CGNS Data Format을 지원하는 CFD 전/후처리장치의 개발

In the present study, a pre/post-processor for CFD program is developed and the CGNS library is used to exchange grid data between different CFD programs. The CGNS library is useful to store, retrieve and exchange CFD Data. It can be easily implemented in C, C++, Fortran77 and Fortran90 applications. The developed pre/post-processor is build with Visual C++ and can be run on Microsoft Windows platforms. OpenGL library is used to manipulate graphic view which consists of many vertices and cell data.

An experimental study on the structure of a separated shear layer downstream of the backward-facing step has been performed by examining mean flow and turbulent quantities in terms of free stream turbulence. When free stream turbulence exists, the entrainment rate of the separated shear layer and the flow rate in the recirculation region are enhanced, resulting in shorter reattachment length. The production and diffusion terms in the turbulent kinetic energy balance are shown to increase more than the dissipation term does. Rapid decrease of the pressure-strain term in the shear stress balance implies the enhancement of the three-dimensional motion by free stream turbulence.

The numerical simulations on the train entering a tunnel are performed by solving unsteady axi-symmetric problems. To reduce the effects of the pressure wave generated by the train starting abruptly, several starting methods of the train are examined. The high order velocity increase gives better results than those for the linear velocity increase. The high order velocity increase gives good results for the pressure rise by the train entering a tunnel, too. The distance to the train reaches the highest running velocity from the start should be more than 60m when the train speed is 350km/h.

Background : Ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. meyer) is a medicinal herb which has been used for prevention and treatment of diseases in Korea, China and Japan for a long time. Ginseng is well known to have effects such as immunity enhancement, anticancer, antioxidative effect and blood circulation improvement. These pharmacological effects of ginseng have been reported to be due to various ginsenoside components. Recently, many studies have been actively conducted to identify the major components and functionalities of ginseng berry. Ginsenoside, a representative active ingredient of ginseng, is distributed in various parts of ginseng. However, contents of certain ingredient such as ginsenoside Re which have antidiabetic effect is higher in ginseng berry. This study was conducted to compare ginsenoside content and UV blocking effect according to the color of ginseng berry. Methods and Results : The ginseng berry extracts for the component analysis and UV-blocking effect test were obtained by harvesting the ginseng berry by color in 4-years-old ginseng cultivated, and then removing the seeds and extracting only the flesh of the ginseng berry and the peel with methanol. Ginsenosides analysis was carried out by dissolving 100 ㎎ of the extract in 2 ㎖ of methanol, filtering it with a 0.50 ㎛ filter and using it as a sample for HPLC analysis. Analysis of ginsenoside content showed that the total ginsenoside and ginsenoside Rb2 content of yellow ginseng berry were 23.9 and 2.9 ㎎/g, while those of red berry was 19.6 and 2.3 ㎎/g, respectively. The UV blocking effect of yellow ginseng berry was 17.4%, which was higher than that of red berry. Conclusion : The ginsenoside content and UV blocking effect of yellow ginseng berry were superior to those of red berry. These results suggested that yellow berry is more useful as cosmetic material for UV protection.
제트홴의 설치방법에 따른 도로터널내의 환기량 변화에 대한 수치해석연구

In the present study, ventilation flow rates through a road tunnel is simulated numerically using CFD for various arrangements of jet fans. It has been found that the locations of jet fan installation have little effect on the ventilation flow rates. However, the flow rate in the case that jet fans are installed by pair gives about 5% more than by a single fan. And in the case that fans are inclined downward by 5 degrees, the flow rate through the tunnel shows about 5% increase compared with the case that fans are installed horizontally.

In the present study, a new wood boiler was developed through the performance test. The efficiency of the boiler was obtained up to about 63.7%, which is 67% higher than that of conventional wood boiler, about 38.2%. The structure of the new boiler is more complicated than the conventional boiler. The passage of combustion gas is sufficiently long to exchange heat well with heating water. Therefore, the obtained efficiency is so high, and the temperature of exhaust gas was lower than 200$^{\circ}C$, which is as low as that of light oil boiler. The composition of exhaust gas was measured, and the CO gas concentration was obtained more than 3000 ppm. So, it seems that more study is needed to lower the concentration of CO gas.
제트 홴 방식 환기시스템을 사용하는 터널의 환기량에 영향을 주는 인자에 대한 수치해석 검토

In the present study, ventilation flow rates and pressure rises through a road tunnel are simulated numerically using CFD with the various conditions such as roughness height, swirl angle of jet fan, entrance and exit effect and hub to tip ratio. By using a modified wall function, friction factor can be predicted under 10% of error with respect to the Moody chart for the circular pipe flow and 15%, for the present tunnel. For more precise design, the effects of the swirl angle and hub to tip ratio of jet fan, which is not included in the theoretical equation of pressure rise by jet fan are necessary to be considered.
