자살은 세계적으로 심각한 문제이며 한국의 경우는 요즘 OECD 국가 중 자살률 1위를 기록하면서 그 심각성을 더한다. 당국은 자살 예방을 위해 다양한 법령등의 조치를 취하고 있지만 자살감소에 얼마나 효과적일 것인지 의문이다. 복잡한 동기를 가진 자살행위는 어느 한 분야가 책임질 일이 아니다. 우리는 자살문제를 연구하는 데 걸림돌이 되는 모든 종류의 왜곡된 시각들을 우선적으로 타파해야 한다. 제목에서 볼 수 있듯이 자살예방의 해법을 제시한다기보다는 자살예방연구를 위한 준비 단계라고 말하고 싶다. 과연 연구자들은 자살자를 어떻게 바라봐야 하는 것인지 점검하는 과정이 될 것이다. 역사적인 사실들을 점검하여 자살에 대한 견해를 분석하고 연구자들이 객관적인 연구결과를 위해 지녀야 할 태도를 만들어야 한다. 서구의 기독교 논리가 우리의 문제를 윤리적으로 왜곡시키기 전에 존재했던 인간적인 자살을 이해하는 것이 문제를 풀어나가는 데 도움이 될 것이다. 자살을 거론하면 자살이 늘어난다는 속설에서 벗어나야 한다. 자살은 무조건 나쁜 것이고 자살자는 불쌍하기 때문에 그들을 구해야 한다는 식의 사고가 자살자를 줄이는데 전혀 도움이 되지 않는다. 인간은 자기 자신의 고유한 생명에 대한 각자의 자유가 있다는 것을 인정하면서도 왜곡된 표현으로서의 자살을 예방하도록 노력하는 것이 인문학이 할 수 있는 전부다. 자살자들이 자살에 이르는 과정은 길고 민감한 과정이다. 인간 내부에 존재하는 격렬함이 표출되는 경로도 다양하여, 갑자기 감각의 노예가 되는 경우도 있지만 대부분의 경우는 마음과 육체 속에서 은밀하게 자라나기 때문에 이 여정에 효과적으로 관여하는 것이 자살예방을 위해서 필요하다. 특히 자살과는 다른 극도로 위험한 행동에 견줄 수 있는 왜곡된 표현으로서의 자살을 막는 것은 인문학에서 주로 맡아야 할 부분이다.

Obesity in modern society lowers quality of life, it`s not a disease that can easily be cured, it`s harming health and life of citizens since it`s apt to recur. By relieving the point that electrodesiccation can manage within short period of time without pain recur which was known as the biggest disadvantage of belly management, the researcher recorded belly, its weight, and body fat toward women from 20~40 who don`t have any health problems and didn`t take any medicines from obesity clinic for studying effect of electrodesiccation over weight loss and reduction of belly. People with obesity have very solid ligation of adipose tissue and also have unnecessary water between solid adipose tissue. Body heating which is produced by electrodesiccation makes ligation of adipose tissue loose, has function of dissolving and burning water between it and accelerate burning of adipose tissue. Adipose tissue that`s dissolved and burned like that are discharged through sweat glands or urine. In order to observe the numerical value difference of body through perspective of belly obesity management, we decided to execute repeating measurement every week, electrodesiccation treatment were processed for twice a week for 6 weeks. With final measurement result after 6 weeks, we could see that body fat were reduced 2.78% in average, belly were reduced 4.23cm in average and weight were reduced 2.76kg in average. According to survey result about body satisfaction after end of obesity management, the result shows that 66.5% people got confidence and therefore I strongly recommend electrodesiccation for belly obesity management.

유럽문화의 한 축 : ‘프랑스식(à la française)’

18세기에 시작되어 아직도 통용되는 ‘프랑스식’이라는 조어는 일종의 관용구처럼 쓰이는 표현으로 “높은 정도의 세련됨”을 의미한다. 그렇지만 18세기에 영국과 유럽 전체에서 성행되던 ‘그랜드 투어’와 연관시켜보면 이 말은 요리나 패션 등에 국한된 것이 아니라는 사실을 알 수 있다. 당시에 유럽의 지식인이나 귀족이라면 필수적으로 익혀야했던 프랑스어는 라틴어 시대 다음으로 프랑스어 시대를 열고 있었다. 오늘날 영어의 강세로 둔화되기는 했지만 국제어로서의 프랑스어 전통은 아직도 유효하다. 여기서 우리는 ‘프랑스식’이라는 말이 프랑스의 존재 가치를 알려주는 포괄적인 표현이라고 강조하고 싶다. 전통적으로 영국과 프랑스는 갈등 관계에 있었다. 11세기 윌리엄공의 침공, 14-15세기 백년전쟁과 나폴레옹과 웰링턴의 전쟁 등으로도 잘 알 수 있다. 무력전쟁 뿐만이 아니고, 18세기 이후 국제 표준을 선정하던 시기에도 영국과 프랑스는 대립했다. 결과적으로 표준시를 영국이, 미터법은 프랑스가 주도하는 결과를 낳았지만 파국이 아니라 타협으로 결과를 도출해냈다. 양국의 경쟁은 파괴적이라기보다는 발전적인 방향으로 진행되었다. 영국과 프랑스의 문화가 서양의 두 방향성이라 판단된다. 우리에게 더 익숙해 보이는 영미식과는대조적인 프랑스식 사고방식도 경쟁력이 있다는 것을 말하고 싶다. 오히려 우리가 익숙하지 않은 것을 깊이 연구하면 창의적인 결과물을 생산할 수도 있을 것이다. The french idiomatic phrase ‘à la française’ which was first coined and used in the 18th century is still being metaphorically used to denote “something that is refined.” In relation to the idiom ‘The Grand Tour’ which was widely used in Europe the idiomatic phrase ‘à la française’ can be identified to have been used in a broader sense than just for ‘fashion’ or ‘cuisine.’ The 18th century saw the emergence of French as a requisite for the aristocracy and quickly substituted for Latin which had been a requirement for the european aristocracies. Today the French language even though it has lost some of its prestigious past due to the proliferation of English world wide is still valid. To this effect the idiomatic phrase ‘à la française’ emphasizes the on-going existence of french cultural tradition that we easily identify today. Traditionally England and France has been in a conflicting relationship with each other. The 11th century Norman invasion, the Hundred Year War during the 14th-15th century and the Napoleonic Wars and the Wellington battle all attest to this discord between the two nations. Not only on the battlefield this conflict between the two nations also can be traced in the 19th century conference when the International Standards were eventually decided with England being the norm for International Standard Time and France the International Standards in Measuring by implementing the metric system. The two nations formed a developmental relationship rather than a conflicting relationship as before. The two cultural traditions of England and France are the dominant factors of what we today describe as an European culture. And this paper is to suggest that the ‘french style’ which might be somewhat odd from the ‘anglo-american style’ that we are so accustomed to is still valid. In a different perspective studying what is less in trend may lead to a more creative results.

La sexualite n`a pas ete un sujet d`etude tres prise. Ce n`est pas parce que ce sujet n`est pas important que l`on en parle peu, c`est plutot parce que cela releve de l`intimite des individus. C`est un sujet qui oblige a la discretion. Il est d`autant plus difficile que la sexualite doit etre abordee sous les deux angles: corps et ame. Le corps fut longtemps meprise par les philosophes antiques et, en Europe, les Chretiens fideles sur ce point de vue ont cru que seule l`ame peut entrer au Paradis. On peut observer un tel dualisme chez les Occidentaux comme chez les Orientaux pour lesquels le corps n`est qu`une partie subordonnee inferieure, une sorte de "marionette" commandee par l`ame. Ce n`est que dans les annees 80 que l`on commence a s`interesser au corps et a la sexualite grace aux chercheurs en sciences humaines. Trois phenomenes expliquent cette evolution. D`abord il y a eu des changements dans la societe: le regime capitaliste traditionnel a peu a peu laisse place a la societe de consommation et de loisirs. Deuxiement, avec la progression de l`esperance de vie, les seniors prennent conscience de l`importance de la sante, et donc de leur corps. Enfin on donnera comme explication l`expansion du feminisme. C`est l`element le plus determinant. Dans la mesure ou le feminisme tente d`emanciper les femmes de l`ordre patriarcal, et des contraintes sociales imposees a leur corps, le corps des femmes devient un sujet important pour le feminisme. L`evolution des vetements feminins reflete par excellence celle des contraintes imposees au corps des femmes. Le degre des decolletes est etroitement lie au degre de liberte des femmes. Aujourd`hui les vetements feminins occidentaux sont concus pour mettre en valeur la beaute du corps feminin. Dans ce sens, la popularite de la "mini jupe" ou du "bikini" a, elle aussi facilite l`emancipation de la femme, et je dirai meme que les "Topless" a la plage font partie des mouvements feministes. Elles peuvent enlever leur soutien-gorge si elles en ont envie. Elles n`ont pas a suivre les contraintes imposees par la societe, puisque leur corps leur appartient. Il peut y avoir deux sortes de nudite: si le premier cas releve d`une provocation sexuelle a caractere pornographique, le deuxieme est une simple expression de la fierte que la femme peut avoir pour son corps: il s`agit la d`une nudite positive. Et c`est precisement cet aspect positif qui a fait evoluer le statut de la femme pour ce qui touche a la sexualite dans la vie quotidienne en Europe.
