야생조류 유래 대장균의 항생제 감수성 및 plasmid profile

The present study was conducted to investigate serologic characteristics, antimicrobial resistance and plasmid profile of 79 E. coli isolated from faecal sample of the wild bird in Busan province (Gangseo, Saha) during the period from November 2004 to February 2005. Many strains were positive for raffinose (63.3%), sorbitol (96.2%), sucrose (73.4%) and few strains were positive for esculin, arginine dihydrolase, ornithine decarboxylase. Among 79 isolates, O serotypes were O55, O158, O18 and 47 strains (59.5%) were resistant to antimicrobial drugs such as tetracycline (40.5%), carbenicillin (27.8%). 15 strains showed 14 different plasmid bands composed of 1 to 6 bands. They were ranged from 1.6 to 43 kb and harbored 43 kb (11.4%), 5.3 kb (6.3%) and 11.4 kb (5.1%). Plasmid profile of 15 strains were 43 profile (2.5%), 2.4, 43 profile (2.5%) and 5.3, 11.4, 43 profile (2.5%).

A 23-year-old woman with pulmonary arteriovenous malformation was scheduled for open reduction and internal fixation due to her mandible fracture. Total intravenous anesthesia using propofol and remifentanil was selected as the anesthetic method in order to avoid the inhibition of hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and the exacerbation of intrapulmonary shunting. After the standard monitoring devices were applied, anesthesia was then induced and maintained with a target controlled infusion of propofol and remifentanil in the range of 2.5-3.0 μg/ml and 2-3 ng/ml, respectively. Anesthesia was performed uneventfully and the patient was discharged without complication. (Korean J Anesthesiol 2009; 56: 713~6)

Background: Sevoflurane and propofol have different cardiorespiratory effects on postural changes. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of sevoflurane and propofol on hemodynamics and gas exchange index when patients are raised from the supine position to the beach chair position. Methods: Forty patients requiring beach chair position for shoulder surgery were randomly assigned to receive sevoflurane (end-tidal concentration 1 vol%, n = 20) or propofol (target concentration 3μg/ml, n = 20). Hemodynamic variables and arterial blood gas analysis data were recorded and gas exchange indices were calculated before induction (baseline), 20 min after endotracheal intubation (supine position), and 20 min after beach chair position. Results: There were significant decreases in mean arterial pressure, central venous pressure, and central venous oxygen saturation after beach chair position. There were no significant changes in gas exchange indices after the position changes. There were no significant differences between groups in hemodynamics and gas exchanges indices. Conclusions: Raising healthy patients from the supine to the beach-chair position produced a significant decrease in hemodynamic indices with little changes in gas exchange indices. However, the effects of sevoflurane and propofol on the both hemodynamic and gas change indices were not significantly different. (Korean J Anesthesiol 2007; 52: 23~8)
W^(sh)/W^(sh) 마우스 고환에서 Protein Kinase C(PKC)와 c-kit의 발현 양상

Protein kinase C (PKC) is a multigene family of at least nine serine/threonine kinases that are central to many signal transduction pathways. And the expression of PKC gene is strictly con-trolled by developmental stage. Mutation of the W (c kit) gene, which encodes a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor, affect the development and differentiation stem cells. Most homozygous W mutant mice are sterile, due to a lack of germ cells arising during embryonic development, but one of notable exception is W */Wh mice, which are fully fertile in both sexes. In order to elucidate the biological functions of PKC S and c-kit in the testes, we have examined the expression of PKC b mRNA and c-kit mRNA in While mouse testes by means of Northern blotting. North-em blot results was demonstrated that only PKC 8, 4, 8 mRNA can be detected in normal mouse testes. PKC, 8 mRNA was weakly expressed in 7 and 8-week-old mice and highly ex-pressed by 12 weeks. The PKC 8 mRNA and the c-kit mRNA was detectable in the testes of Whl Wh mouse. These results indicated that the function of the PKC a gene is necessary for the development and the W (c-kit) gene is important for the transmission of signal in testes.

Background: Low flow anesthesia provides many advantages, including reduced cost, conservation of body heat and airway humidity. This study was performed to compare low flow anesthesia with high flow anesthesia and to investigate whether the advantages of low flow anesthesia during positive pressure ventilation can be combined with the laryngeal mask airway in paralyzed pediatric patients. Methods: Thirty-one pediatric patients of ASA physical status 1 or 2 were studies and divided into two groups according to the fresh gas flow (FGF) in the breathing system; low flow group (FGF ≒ 1 L/min, n=17) or high flow group (FGF ≒ 4 L/min, n=14). Each respiratory parameter was measured when a steady state was reached at 20 min after induction. Results: There were no significant differences of respiratory data between the two groups except that the inspired oxygen concentration was lower in the low flow group than in the high flow group. Hemodynamic changes with the laryngeal mask airway insertion were not statistically significant. Conclusions: A laryngeal mask airway is an effective airway device for low flow anesthesia as well as for high anesthesia in paralyzed pediatric patients. (Korean J Anesthesiol 2002; 43: 723~727)
상처치유시 Antisense TGF-β1 Oligodeoxynucleotides가 Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase발현 조절에 미치는 영향

Wound healing in the skin may be complicated by both microbial invasion and inflammation. Following injury, platelet degranulation releases a number of chemotactic factors including transforming growth factor (TGF-fl) and platelet derived growth factor (PDGF). TGF-19 is a cytokines that modulates many cellular function and gene expression. However, it is not known whether TGF-P could regulate inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene expression during wound healing. Here we report that down regulation of TGF-Q gene expression by antisense oligodeoxynucleotides increase iNOS during wound healing. Our reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) result has shown that antisense TGF-fil oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN) targeting the TGF-J11 translation initiation region markedly reduced TGF-(il mRNA levels in wounded skin. Also, marked reduction in TGF-fl1 mRNA after antisense treatment invited that the increment of iNOS mRNA in wounded skin. Therefore, our irnmunohistochemical studies revealed a "pattern of iNOS product in wounded skin treated antisense TGF-fl1 ODN that was similar to the pattern of RNA synthesis detected by RT-PCR. In conclusion, our results indicated that the regulatory actions of TGF fl1 on iNOS. might be involved in the initiation and faciliates the resolution of inflammation following wounding.
