Most of us are familiar with the concept of the circular pitch structure presented by Shepard. He suggests that the pitch perception has a relation to the multidimensional circular mechanism. However, in Shepard's context, the results of present psycho-acoustical experiments show only unidimensional facts. This paper is written for the purpose of indicating the limits of present psycho-acoustical experiments and of groping an alternative plan to overcome such limits. For these works, this study focuses on the essential subjects of combination tones and dissonance sensation, and, furthermore, the relation between them. The origin of the dissonance sensation is discussed generally in terms of the frequency ratio and the beat effect. However, it is difficult to elucidate the eventual origin of the dissonance sensation only with these cues. Therefore, it appears to be necessary for this study to focus in detail on the following three subjects: the arguments for aural harmonics and secondary combination tones, the discussion of the mechanical relationship between two primary tones on the basilar membrane, and the introduction of a new neurophysiological concept about the multidimensional mechanism of the pitch perception, so-called tonotopy or tonotopicity.
Design of Superconducting Magnets for a 600 kJ SMES

The design of superconducting magnets for a 600 kJ SEMS was discussed. The basic constraint conditions in the design of a 600 kJ SMES magnet were V-I loss(<1 W), inductance of magnet(<24 H), the number of Double Pancake Coils(DPC about 10), the number of turns of DPC(<300), outer diameter of DPC(close to 800 mm) and total length of HTS wire in a DPC(<500 m). As a result of optimum design, we obtained design parameters of the 600 kJ SMES magnet with two operating currents, 360 A and 370 A, which are in the limited conditions without V-I loss. V-I loss of each operating current was calculated with design parameters and V-I characteristic of the HTS wire. As a result of calculations, V-I losses with operating currents of 360 A and 370 A were 0.6 W and 1.86 W, respectively. Even though all design parameters of the SMES magnet in case of operating current of 360 A were in the restricted conditions, V-I loss of SMES magnet showed a tendency to generate at local DPCs, which are located on the top and the bottom of the SMES magnet more than that of the other DPCs.

본 논문에서는 600kJ급 SMES용 열전도판의 와전류 손실의 해석에 대해서 나타내었다. SMES의 운전 상태는 충전, 운전, 방전의 3가지 구간으로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 이 중 방전 구간에서는 SMES 코일에서의 전류 감소에 의해서 와전류 손실이 발생한다. 이때 발생하는 와전류 손실은 짧은 시간동안 발생하지만 그 크기가 크기 때문에, SMES 시스템 설계 시 냉각 시스템의 효율과 안정성을 위해서 반드시 고려되어야만 한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 열전도판의 와전류 손실을 해석하고, 그 형상의 변화에 따른 와전류 손실 값들을 분석하였다.

Numerical identification of synthetic d-q flux linkage, representative parameters for analyzing interior buried PM synchronous Motor(IPMSM) with distinguished magnetic saturation, has been performed. Particularly, numerical identification of synthetic flux linkage using modified Finite Element Method(F.E.M) has been taken cross-magnetization of multi-layered PM configuration into consideration. Futhermore, experimental identification on the purpose-built prototype has been made to verify the validity of the numerically identified synthetic d-q flux linkages.
