        Global Warming Likely Reduces Crop Yield and Water Availability of the Dryland Cropping Systems in the U.S. Central Great Plains

        We investigated the impact of GCM-projected climate change on dryland crop rotations of wheat-fallow and wheat-cornfallowin the Central Great Plains (Akron in Colorado, USA) using the CERES 4.0 crop modules in RZWQM2. The climatechange scenarios for CO2, temperature, and precipitation were produced by 22 GCM projections for Colorado based on theA1B scenario. The climate change for years 2050 and 2075 was super-imposed on measured 30-year-baseline climate data(1989-2008). For all the cropping rotations and projection years, simulated yields of wheat and corn decreased significantly (P< 0.05) with increasing temperatures. The yield declines due to the elevated temperatures should be attributable to the shorteningof crop maturity duration and concurrent decreases in soil water and evapotranspiration. The model was also projected todecrease crop yields for the combined climate change scenarios of CO2, temperature, and precipitation in the dryland croppingrotations

        Potential Impacts on Climate Change on Paddy Rice Yield in Mountainous Highland Terrains

        Crop models are suitable tools to assess the potential impacts of climate change on crop productivity. While the associated assessmentreports have been focused on major rice production regions, there is little information on how climate change will impact thefuture rice crop production in mountainous highland regions. This study investigated effects of climate change on yield of paddy rice(Oryza sativa) in mountainous highland terrains of Korea using the CERES-Rice 4.0 crop model. The model was first calibrated andvalidated based on observed data and then applied to simulations for the future projections of rice yield in a typical mountainous terrainwhich borders North and South Korea, the Haean Basin in Kangwon Province, Republic of Korea. Rice yield in the highland terrainwas projected to increase by 2050 and 2100 primarily due to elevated CO2 concentration. This effect of CO2 fertilization on yield(+10.9% in 2050 and +20.0% in 2100) was also responsible for increases in water-use efficiency and nitrogen-use efficiency. Withmanagement options, such as planting date shift and increasing nitrogen application, additional yield gains were predicted in responseto the future climate in this area. We also found that improving genetic traits should be another option to get further yield increases. Allin all, climate change in mountainous highland areas should positively influence on paddy rice productivity

        이익조작지수를 이용한 회계부정 적발

        본 연구는 국내 기업의 회계자료를 이용하여 보고이익의 조작 정도를 추정하는 모형을 제시하고 이의 활용방법을 예시하였다. 구체적으로, 2001년부터 2005년까지 금융감독원에 의해 이익조작으로 감리지적된 12월 결산 상장법인과 대응표본을 대상으로 100회 무작위추출에 의한 stepwise logit regression을 실시하여 이익조작 예측모형을 도출하였다. 최종 모형에는 Beneish(1997, 1999)의 판매관리비지수 외에 부채비율, 매출액매출채권비율, 총자산매출액비율, 운전자본비율, 현금흐름비율, 금융비용비율이 포함되었다. 실증결과에 의하면, 국내기업들은 판매관리비의 증가, 부채의 증가, 금융비용의 증가, 매출의 감소, 운전자본의 부족, 그리고 유동성의 감소 등을 경험할 때 이익조작 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 모든 기업을 비조작기업으로 가정하는 단순전략과 비교할 때 본 연구의 예측모형은 기대 오류비용을 크게 감소시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이익조작 가능성을 추정하는데 당기와 전기의 자료만을 필요로 하는 본 연구의 예측모형은 규제당국이나 외부감사인, 그리고 투자자들이 특정 기업의 이익조작 가능성을 일차적으로 평가하는데 유용할 것으로 기대된다. This study develops a model to detect earnings manipulation using a sample of firms identified as earnings manipulators by the Financial Supervisory Service of Korea for the period from 2001 to 2005. Besides the sales, general, and administrative expenses index (SGAI) proposed by Beneish(1997, 1999), we find six other useful variables: debt/equity; receivables/sales; sales/total assets; working capital/total assets; cash flow from operations/current liabilities; and financial charges/sales. Results suggest that Korean firms are more likely to manipulate earnings when these seven financial measures become deteriorated. Compared with a naive strategy of classifying all firms as non-manipulators, our estimation model is expected to significantly reduce costs of misclassification. External auditors, financial analysts, regulators, and other users of financial statements might use our model to screen potential earnings manipulators, to which they can allocate additional resources for more in-depth analysis.

        산업구조 변화가 건축물 용도변경에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this article is to make clear the relationship between the change in building use from wholesale and retail trade to educational activities etc and analysis the industrial factors affecting a building use change in the Seoul City. Based on local government building management data in 1996~2005 and industrial statistics of the korea national statistical office from 1977 to 2006. The following result has been confirmed: Factors of building-use change influencing forces were food service activities, education, real estate activities, renting and leasing, financial and insurance activities, human health and social work activities. Comparatively highly influencing forces factor was analyzed into real estate activities and renting and leasing with pearson correlation 0.675. The specific factors that affected a building-use change was food service activities 25.95%, real estate activities and renting and leasing 23.35%, wholesale and retail trade 15.17% and education 7.I%. Industrial structure change of the local government affected influence for a building-use change, Kangdong-Ku was education, Kangsea-Ku was financial and insurance activities, Dongdaemoon-Ku was education, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, food service activities and human health and social work activities, Seocho-Ku was manufacturing, Yangchon-Ku was food service activities, human health and social work activities, accommodation and real estate activities and renting and leasing,Kumchon-ku was financial and insurance activities.

        지상라이다를 이용한 지하철 역사의 3D 실내공간정보 구축방안 연구

        Recently, importance of indoor space is on the rise, as larger and more complex buildings are taking place due to development of building technology. Accordingly, range of the target area of spatial information service is rapidly expanding from outdoor space to indoor space. Various demands for indoor spatial information are expected to be created in the future through development of high technologies such as IT·Mobile and convergence with various area. Thus this research takes a look at available methods for building indoor spatial information and then builds high accuracy three-dimensional indoor spatial information using indoor high accuracy laser survey and 3D vector process technique. The accuracy of built 3D indoor model is evaluated by overlap analysis method refer to a digital map, and the result showed that it could guarantee its positional accuracy within 0.04m on the x-axis, 0.06m on the y-axis. This result could be used as a fundamental data for building indoor spatial data and for integrated use of indoor and outdoor spatial information. 최근 공간정보 서비스 대상 영역의 범위가 실외 공간에서 실내 공간으로 급속하게 확대되어 가고 있으며, 이러한 변화는 IT·모바일 등 첨단기술의 발달과 함께 다양한 분야와의 융·복합을 통한 연계 활용으로 향후 실내공간정보의 다양한 서비스 수요를 창출하게 될 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현재 활용 가능한 실내공간정보 구축방법에 대해 살펴본 후, 서울 시청 지하철 역사를 대상으로 실내 고정밀 레이저 측량 및 3차원 벡터 가공기술을 활용하여 정밀 3차원 실내공간정보를 구축하였다. 구축된 정밀 3차원 실내모델은 1:1000 수치지도와의 중첩분석을 통해 정확도 평가를 실시하였으며 그 결과, X축으로 최대 0.04m Y축으로 최대 0.06m 이내의 위치정확도를 확보할 수 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 향후 실내공간정보 구축 및 실내외 공간정보 연계활용을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

        서울시(市) 산업구조변화(産業構造變化)에 따른 건축물(建築物) 용도변경(用途變更)의 구조적(構造的) 변화(變化)

        The purpose of this study ㅑs to identify the relationship between the change of the industrial structure and the conversion of the building at the point in time that the importance of reuse of the existing building increases with the industrial change and analyze the structural change found between conversion. The scope of this study was to survey the 10-year(1996~2005) change of the variables of great classification in the Korean Standard Industrial Classification and the numbers of conversion carried out for the same period under the jurisdiction of 20 local governments in Seoul. This study attempted to analyze the data collected this way to investigate the correlation in a statistical method. CNA(conversion network analysis) was conducted on the buildings before and after conversion by dividing Seoul into the Seoul district. The finding of this study present the following suggestions : First, it is necessary to design the building with due regards to its conversion at the time of new construction in terms of securing building maintenance and market competitiveness with the passage of time. Second, it would be possible to make practical use of statistical data if the standard and criterion for classification of building conversion in the Building Code is made to correspond with the Standard Industrial Classification. Third, it is necessary to reflect in the plan for conversion revitalization and local development the change in businesses found to have a correlation with building conversion in each district. Fourth, it is necessary to readjust the item of building use classification to fit the realities. For example, it is necessary to examine the movement of the massage parlor included in the 2nd-class neighborhood living facility group to the item of amusement facilities.
