        A Geometric Compression Method Using Dominant Points for Transmission to LEO Satellites

        In the operation of a low earth orbit satellite, a series of antenna commands are transmitted from a ground station to the satellite within a visibility window (i.e., the time period for which an antenna of the satellite is visible from the station) and executed to control the antenna. The window is a limited resource where all data transmission is carried out. Therefore, minimizing the transmission time for the antenna commands by reducing the data size is necessary in order to provide more time for the transmission of other data. In this paper, we propose a geometric compression method based on B-spline curve fitting using dominant points in order to compactly represent the antenna commands. We transform the problem of command size reduction into a geometric problem that is relatively easier to deal with. The command data are interpreted as points in a 2D space. The geometric properties of the data distribution are considered to determine the optimal parameters for a curve approximating the data with sufficient accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is superior to conventional methods currently used in practice.

        A Survey: application of geometric modeling techniques to ship modeling and design

        In this study, geometric modeling techniques and their application to ship modeling and design are presented. Traditionally the hull shape is defined by using curves called the lines and various necessary computations are performed based on the discrete points obtained from the lines. However, some applications find difficulty in using the lines such as seakeeping analysis, which requires the computation of wetted part that is changing dynamically over time. To overcome such a problem and increase accuracy and efficiency in computation, two essential geometric modeling techniques, surface modeling and surface-to-surface intersection, are introduced and their application to ship modeling and analysis including hydrostatic computation, slamming and seakeeping analyses is presented.

      • Pyridine과 2,4-Dinitrochlorobenzene의 반응에 미치는 Micelle의 영향

        The reaction of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene with pyridine has been studied and the reaction rates were determined at various temperature. The amounts of the product obtained from the reaction, 2,4-dinitrophenylpyridinium chloride, were determined by reacting aliquots of the reaction mixtures with aqueous alkali and measuring absorbances of the resulting red solution. The effects of surfactants such as cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), sodium laurylsulfate (SDS) and Triton X-100 on the reaction rates have been investigated. It was found that all three surfactants speed the reaction, but the effect of CTAB was the greatest. At high concentration of CTAB, the reaction rates become almost independent of〔CTAB〕as substrate binding approaches completion. The thermodynamic parameters for the reaction in the presence of surfactants were evaluated and compared with those in the absence of surfactants.

        Development of software for computing forming information using a component based approach

        In shipbuilding industry, the manufacturing technology has advanced at an unprecedented pace for the last decade. As a result, many automatic systems for cutting, welding, etc. have been developed and employed in the manufacturing process and accordingly the productivity has been increased drastically. Despite such improvement in the manufacturing technology, however, development of an automatic system for fabricating a curved hull plate remains at the beginning stage since hardware and software for the automation of the curved hull fabrication process should be developed differently depending on the dimensions of plates, forming methods and manufacturing processes of each shipyard. To deal with this problem, it is necessary to create a "plug-in" framework, which can adopt various kinds of hardware and software to construct a full automatic fabrication system. In this paper, a framework for automatic fabrication of curved hull plates is proposed, which consists of four components and related software. In particular the software module for computing fabrication information is developed by using the ooCBD development methodology, which can interface with other hardware and software with minimum effort. Examples of the proposed framework applied to medium and large shipyards are presented.

        Augmented reality (AR) is a well-known technology these days and a growing number of AR applications have been introduced. One of the critical problems in AR is how to visualize a virtual object without causing any unnatural feeling when the object or information is augmented in the real world. In particular rendering the object without considering an environment condition fails to give realistic and natural feelings to the viewers. In this paper, we propose a framework for realistic rendering of a virtual object in an AR environment using ray tracing with a single webcam. The framework consists of two steps: one is to obtain information for the environment and light sources from a single webcam by analyzing the input video sequences, and the other is to render objects and shadows using ray tracing based on the environment information for the realistic augmentation of the objects in the real world.

      • Polyphosphoric Acid와 Ester와의 반응에 의한 Anhyride의 합성에 관한 연구

        The reaction of various esters with polyphosphoric acid was investigated. Reaction of diethyl phthalate and diethyl maleate with polyphosphoric acid yielded phthalic anhydride ad maleic anhydride, respectively, in almost quantitative yields. However, no acetic anhydride was detected from ethyl acetate ad polyphosphoric acid. These results indicate that the reaction of diesters with polyphosphoric acid can provide a new synthetic route to cyclic acid anhydrides.

      • 1-aryl-3-aminocarbonylpyridinium 염의 환원

        Reduction of 1-aryl-3-aminocarbonylpyridinium salts were investigated. Reduction by sodium dithionite gave 1-aryl-3-aminocarbonyl-1,4-dihydropyridines, while reduction by sodium borohydride yielded 1-aryl-3-aminocarbonyl-1,2-dihydropyridine. Spectroscopic and physical data for the above 1,2-and 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives were given.

      • 口蓋裂 患者에 있어서 口蓋 成形術後 鼻咽腔 閉鎖에 關한 臨床的 硏究

        In order to find the causes of velopharyngeal incompetency after primary palatorrhaphy in cleft palate patients, we analyzed the form and function of the velopharyngeal space of fifteen operated cleft palate patients and five normal subjects. The velopharyngeal function was evaluated by lateral cephalometric radiography, velopharyngography and hypernasality cul-de-sac test. The obtained results were as follows 1. The rate of velopharyngeal incompetency was twenty percent, three of the fifteen operated patients. Two of them were complete cleft palate and the other was incomplete one. 2. The length of soft palate and levator eminence were longer in normal group than those of good speech group and complete cleft palate group during phonation of /i/ (P<0.05). The lengthening rate of soft palate was smaller in good and poor speech group than that of normal group(P<0.05) and, reduced in order, normal group, complete cleft palate group and incomplete palate group(P<0.05). 3. The nasopharyngeal distance had no significant difference between all groups at rest, but, smaller in normal group than that of both cleft palate group(P<0.05), good speech group and poor speech group(P<0.05) during phonation of /i/. The difference in nasopharyngeal distance between rest and /i/ phonation was greater in normal group than that of both cleft palate group, good speech group and poor speech group. 4. The moving distance of soft palate reduced in order, normal group, incomplete cleft group, complete cleft palate group(P<0.05). 5. The distance between lateral pharyngeal wall had no significant difference between all groups in rest, but, smaller than that of complete cleft palate group in normal group(P<0.01) and increased in order normal group, good speech group, poor speech group(P<0.01) during phonation of /a/. The mobility of lateral pharyngeal wall was reduced in order, normal group, good speech group, poor speech group(P<0.01). 6. There was low corelationship between the mobility of lateral pharyngeal wall and soft palate. Therefore, it suggest that the movements of lateral pharyngeal wall and soft palate occurs independently.

        An Exploratory Study on Development for Sustainable Community Enterprise in Jeju

        Purpose: There have been 1,592 community enterprises(CEs) as of June, 2019 in nationwide since the first case started in 2010 as 184 CEs were designated by the government. However, the majority of CEs has been in management risk due to low investment money and technological capability compared with private companies. Therefore, the purposes of this study were to identify the current situations regarding CEs and to provide managerial implications for securing sustainability and quality growth. Research design, data, and methodology: This study basically went through an exploratory methodology. The study mainly used the secondary data for literature reviews including background, concept, previous studies about development of CEs, and also collected the primary data with interview for some CEs in Jeju from August 2019 to June 2020. Results: There have been 1,592 CEs in nationwide in 2019 since 2010. The largest type was food area including 689 general foods and 224 traditional foods. Diverse areas were recommended including café, child care, financial services, leisure sports, transportation services, library, and teen-ager services such as England. The total of 37 CEs have registered in Jeju since 2010 starting two CEs. 41% was food area but 12 CEs have closed temporarily and 2 have closed completely. Like other regions, diversification of CEs was necessary. In addition, efforts should be made to diversify the types of village enterprises, as in the case of Britain and other countries, which are the origin of village enterprises. Conclusion: First, the re-organization of system relating CEs has needed such as unification of the concept of the ordinance. Second, diversification of CEs has been recommended to promote various types of businesses. Finally, supporting system has needed to re-organize such as implementation of CEs business by JPDC (Jeju Province Development Corporation; local public corporation) and JDC(Jeju Development Center; state-run corporation). Furthermore, in order to increase the value of this research, it is necessary to develop indicators that can guarantee the sustainability of CB through expert surveys(Delphi, FGI, AHP etc.) and make suggestions so that they can come up with support methods and systems suitable for the characteristics of Jeju according to the indicators.
