Christian theologians have always been confronted with the problem of proving the existence of God since they began to scrutinize the concept of God. They thought out, indeed, various ways of reaching after the God of philosophers including the ontological, the cosmological proof as well as the teleological one. However, it is still an open question whether those proofs have anything to do with the God of the Bible. Karl Barth, one of the most distinguished Protestant theologians in the 20th century, insisted exclusively on the possibility of believing in the revealed God of the Bible in terms of the analogia fidei rejecting the theologia naturalis. Yet many of the Roman Catholic theologians such as Hans Urs von Balthasar and Hans Kung criticized the narrow-minded monism of the Barthian Christology. This study proposes a possible dialogue on this topic between Protestant and Catholic theologians. There have been, generally, two different traditions in figuring out the Christian doctrine of God, but it does not necessarily mean that they are exclusive ones. Karl Barth even recognized indirectly the possibility of the natural revelation in his later works of Church Dogmatics (IV/3, IV/4) although he still adhered to his former christological concentration.
