Influence of operating temperature on CO2-NH3 reaction in an aqueous solution

Although aqueous ammonia solution has been focused on the removal of CO2 from flue gas, there have been very few reports regarding the underlying analysis of the reaction between CO2 and NH3. In this work, we explored the reaction of CO2-NH3-H2O system at various operating temperatures: 40 oC, 20 oC, and 5 oC. The CO2 removal efficiency and the loss of ammonia were influenced by the operating temperatures. Also, infrared spectroscopy measurement was used in order to understand the formation mechanism of ion species in absorbent, such as NH2COO−, HCO3−,CO32−, and NH4+, during CO2, NH3, and H2O reaction. The reactions of CO2-NH3-H2O system at 20 oC and 40 oC have similar reaction routes. However, a different reaction route was observed at 5 oC compared to the other operating temperatures,showing the solid products of ammonium bicarbonates, relatively. The CO2 removal efficiency and the formation of carbamate and bicarbonate were strongly influenced by the operating temperatures. In particular, the analysis of the formation carbamate and bicarbonate by infrared spectroscopy measurement provides useful information on the reaction mechanism of CO2 in an aqueous ammonia solution.

The electrosleep therapy (Somlec therapy) is an altificiai sleep similar to tiormal one induced b보 external stimulus of low voltage electric current to scalp surface which relaxes or inhibits cerebral nerve cells. Since A. W. Filomafitcky, a Russian physiologist, first studied in 1836 CNS response of human-beings to electric current, the technique of psychiatric treatment called electrosleep therapy had greatly expanded in Soviet Union for about 20 years. In fecelit it has become much cohceflied in Europe and America. The author reviewed the references to the technique and method, sleep mechanism, various action and function of the electrosleep therapy. Here, the author reports the clinical experience to the response and results of the electrosleep therapy applied in 17 selected cases of patients having insomnia and psychic tension with other psychiatric symptoms
Potentiometric performance of flexible pH sensor based on polyaniline nanofiber arrays

We report potentiometric performance of a polyaniline nanofiber array-based pH sensor fabricated by combining a dilute chemical polymerization and low-cost and simple screen printing process. The pH sensor had a two-electrode configuration consisting of polyaniline nanofiber array sensing electrode and Ag/AgCl reference electrode. Measurement of electromotive force between sensing and reference electrodes provided various electrochemical properties of pH sensors. The pH sensor show excellent sensor performances of sensitivity of 62.4 mV/pH, repeatability of 97.9% retention, response time of 12.8 s, and durability of 3.0 mV/h. The pH sensor could also measure pH changes as the milk is spoiled, which is similar to those of a commercial pH meter. The pH sensors were highly flexible, and thus can measure the fruit decay on the curved surface of an apple. This flexible and miniature pH sensor opens new opportunities for monitoring of water, product process, human health, and chemical (or bio) reactions even using small volumes of samples.
