        Cytokine Storm Related to CD4<sup>+</sup> T Cells in Influenza Virus-Associated Acute Necrotizing Encephalopathy

        Acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE) is a rare but deadly complication with an unclear pathogenesis. We aimed to elucidate the immune characteristics of H1N1 influenza virus-associated ANE (IANE) and provide a potential therapeutic approach for IANE. Seven pediatric cases from a concentrated outbreak of H1N1 influenza were included in this study. The patients' CD4<sup>+</sup> T cells from peripheral blood decreased sharply in number but highly expressed Eomesodermin (Eomes), CD69 and PD-1, companied with extremely high levels of IL-6, IL-8 in the cerebrospinal fluid and plasma. Patient 2, who showed high fever and seizures and was admitted to the hospital very early in the disease course, received intravenous tocilizumab and subsequently showed a reduction in temperature and a stable conscious state 24 h later. In conclusion, a proinflammatory cytokine storm associated with activated CD4<sup>+</sup> T cells may cause severe brain pathology in IANE. Tocilizumab may be helpful in treating IANE.

      • Monitoring of Corrugation Growth on Tracks with Cologne Egg Fastening System

        Corrugation is a serious problem in railway industry. It may be more commonly seen in metro networks for that metro lines usually have more and sharper curves than the main lines. Research has shown that fastening system is an influence factor on corrugation. Server corrugation was found on tracks with Cologne egg fastening system (Cologne egg for short) shortly after the operation of a metro line. To understand the effects of Cologne eggs on the development of corrugation, curved and tangent lines with Cologne eggs were selected for corrugation growth monitoring. In order to compare the effects of different fastening systems on corrugation, monitoring was also conducted on tracks with the same line condition but using ordinary short sleeper fastening system. Monitoring of rail roughness was done during the whole period between two rail grinding operations using a Corrugation Analysis Trolley (CAT). The characteristics of corrugation growth, such as the speed of growth, the wavelength of corrugation, the distribution of corrugation, etc. were analyzed on different track configurations. Corrugation showed a rapid growth in the first a few weeks after grinding and slowed down after that. Monitoring results show that fasting system is a strong influence factor of corrugation growth. The effect of grinding was discussed. Comparison of corrugation growth of different grinding methods shows that proper grinding method would not only reduce the speed of corrugation growth, but also the final rail roughness level.

      • An overlay-based service architecture for distributed video surveillance system

        In this paper, a service architecture based on overlay network was presented. The architecture was designed to build a novel distributed video surveillance system, called as Etouch. In the model, the system is divided into three layers: underlying network layer (UNL) , overlay service network layer (OSNL) and application layer (AL). OSNL is composed of many intelligent overlay nodes mapped by underlying network layer. Overlay nodes provide all kinds of media service for surveillance application in AL. OSNL allows media service composition of distributed stream processing applications dynamically. And a load balance of QoS-aware service composition algorithm (LBQSC) is employed to satisfy their end-to-end QoS demands. Large-scale experimental results demonstrate the scalability, efficiency and performance of the E-touch system.

        Virtual resistance with compensation link control strategy for traction network‑EMUs systems

        A coupled system composed of a traction network and electric multiple units (EMUs) may oscillate or be prone to instabilitydue to the influence of the large number of nonlinear power electronic devices introduced by the EMUs. To solve thisproblem, this paper proposes a virtual resistance with a compensation link control strategy for the four-quadrant convertersof EMUs. First, based on the actual background, input and output impedance models of the coupled system are established,including the output impedance model of the traction network and the input impedance model of the EMUs. Based on theabove models, the factors affecting the stability of the coupled system are analyzed by utilizing the impedance matching analysis method and the generalized Nyquist stability criterion (GNC). In the proposed control strategy, virtual resistance is used to adjust the loop gain and to increase system damping, which can improve the stability margin of the system. Virtual resistance can also increase the initial power equivalent to improve system stability. The introduction of the compensation link is to suppress the increasing tendency of the intermediate DC voltage steady-state error caused by the virtual resistance. The parameters of the virtual impedance and the compensation link are designed by forbidden region criterion to meet engineering requirements. With the proposed control strategy, the maximum EMU number to ensure system stability has been significantly increased. Finally, simulations and experiments verify the correctness of the analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

      • Flexible Workshop Scheduling Optimization Based On Multi-agent Technology

        Considering the complexity of flexible workshop scheduling, combined with plant production process characteristics and constraints, we constructed a multi-agent system model to solve multi-objective flexible workshop scheduling problems. This paper proposed an algorithm which was a combination of the ant colony algorithm and Q-learning algorithm. This paper also analyzed and implemented how to solve the workshop scheduling optimization problem. Finally, this paper proved the validity of methods to solve the multi-objective flexible workshop scheduling optimization problems with examples on JADE platform.

        Providing survivability for virtual networks against substrate network failure

        Network virtualization has been regarded as a core attribute of the Future Internet. In a network virtualization environment (NVE), multiple heterogeneous virtual networks can coexist on a shared substrate network. Thus, a substrate network failure may affect multiple virtual networks. In this case, it is increasingly critical to provide survivability for the virtual networks against the substrate network failures. Previous research focused on mechanisms that ensure the resilience of the virtual network. However, the resource efficiency is still important to make the mapping scheme practical. In this paper, we study the survivable virtual network embedding mechanisms against substrate link and node failure from the perspective of improving the resource efficiency. For substrate link survivability, we propose a load-balancing and re-configuration strategy to improve the acceptance ratio and bandwidth utilization ratio. For substrate node survivability, we develop a minimum cost heuristic based on a divided network model and a backup resource cost model, which can both satisfy the location constraints of virtual node and increase the sharing degree of the backup resources. Simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the solutions. The proposed load balancing and re-configuration strategy for substrate link survivability outperforms other approaches in terms of acceptance ratio and bandwidth utilization ratio. And the proposed minimum cost heuristic for substrate node survivability gets a good performance in term of acceptance ratio.

        Optimum study on wind-induced vibration control of high-rise buildings with viscous dampers

        In this paper, optimum methods of wind-induced vibration control of high-rise buildings are mainly studied. Two optimum methods, genetic algorithms (GA) method and Rayleigh damping method, are firstly employed and proposed to perform optimum study on wind-induced vibration control, six target functions are presented in GA method based on spectrum analysis. Structural optimum analysis programs are developed based on Matlab software to calculate wind-induced structural responses. A high-rise steel building with 20-storey is adopted and 22 kinds of control plans are employed to perform comparison analysis to validate the feasibility and validity of the optimum methods considered. The results show that the distributions of damping coefficients along structural height for mass proportional damping (MPD) systems and stiffness proportional damping (SPD) systems are entirely opposite. Damping systems of MPD and GAMPD (genetic algorithms and mass proportional damping) have the best performance of reducing structural wind-induced vibration response and are superior to other damping systems. Standard deviations of structural responses are influenced greatly by different target functions and the influence is increasing slightly when higher modes are considered, as shown fully in section 5. Therefore, the influence of higher modes should be considered when strict requirement of wind-induced vibration comfort is needed for some special structures.

        A new dynamic balancing method of spindle based on the identification energy transfer coefficient

        A new vector matching balance method (VMBM) based on the identification of energy transfer coefficient of spindle rotor system (ETCSRS) is proposed in this paper. This method only needs to extract the original vibration signal of the spindle to compute the spindle rotor system unbalanced vector, and the calculation accuracy depends on the identification precision of ETCSRS. The initial parameters of bearings were calculated by applying Newton-Raphson algorithm based on the quasi-static mechanics analysis of rolling bearings. Through establishing the FEA model of spindle, the structural parameters of the rotor shaft system are obtained and modified by modal correction method. First, the principle of VMBM is verified on a Bentley rotor test bench at different rotating speeds. Second, the verification experiment of VMBM on a high-speed spindle is carried out. Furthermore, the VMBM has a better performance than the influence coefficient method (ICM). The method proposed in this paper is very suitable for on-line dynamic balancing, since it greatly improves the balance efficiency.
