        Analytical Compliance Model for Right Circle Flexure Hinge Considering the Stress Concentration Effect

        In this paper, an analytical compliance model for right circle fl exure hinge (RCFH) is presented with the stress concentrationin consideration. The stress concentration caused by changes in RCFH’s cross-section usually happens at the weakestpoint. It has been shown to seriously aff ect RCFH’s compliance calculation. Based on the virtual work theory, superpositionrelationship of the deformation, as well as Castigliano’s second theorem, RCFH’s analytical compliance model consideringthe stress concentration eff ect is established. The model is calculated as a series of closed-form equations which are relatedwith geometric dimensions and employed material. Complicated defi nite integrals existing in these compliance equations areproved to be correctly calculated through comparisons with other literatures. Finally, in order to examine the validity of theestablished model, fi nite element analysis (FEA) is conducted. The relative errors between the theoretical values obtainedby the established model and FEA results are found within 20% for a wide range of geometric dimensions.

        Three‑stage model predictive control for modular multilevel converters with comprehensive performance optimization

        Model predictive control (MPC) is recognized as an efficient control method for the modular multilevel converter (MMC), owing to its advantages, such as good robustness, rapid dynamic response, and multi-objective control. However, due to the coupling relationship between the ac-side current and the circulating current, the existing MPC has an impact on the ac-side current while suppressing the circulating current. In this paper, the relationship between the ac-side current performance and circulating current suppression is discussed in detail, and a three-stage MPC (TS-MPC) strategy is proposed to optimize the comprehensive performance. With the ac-side current control, circulating current control, and comprehensive optimization control, the optimum performance of both the ac-side current and circulating current suppression is realized while maintaining a low computational burden. Moreover, a grouping sorting algorithm is designed to reduce the calculation burden and to balance the capacitor voltages. The steady-state and transient performances of the proposed TS-MPC strategy have been verified by experimental results, which validates its correctness and effectiveness.

        Saxibacter everestensis gen. nov., sp. nov., A Novel Member of the Family Brevibacteriaceae, Isolated from the North Slope of Mount Everest

        We isolated and analyzed a novel, Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, rod-shaped, non-motile actinobacterium, designated as strain ZFBP1038T, from rock sampled on the north slope of Mount Everest. The growth requirements of this strain were 10–37 °C, pH 4–10, and 0–6% (w/v) NaCl. The sole respiratory quinone was MK-9, and the major fatty acids were anteiso-C15:0 and iso-C17:0. Peptidoglycan containing meso-diaminopimelic acid, ribose, and glucose were the major cell wall sugars, while polar lipids included diphosphatidyl glycerol, phosphatidyl glycerol, an unidentified phospholipid, and an unidentified glycolipid. A phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain ZFBP1038T has the highest similarity with Spelaeicoccus albus DSM 26341 T (96.02%). ZFBP1038T formed a distinct monophyletic clade within the family Brevibacteriaceae and was distantly related to the genus Spelaeicoccus. The G + C content of strain ZFBP1038T was 63.65 mol% and the genome size was 4.05 Mb. Digital DNA–DNA hybridization, average nucleotide identity, and average amino acid identity values between the genomes of strain ZFBP1038T and representative reference strains were 19.3–25.2, 68.0–71.0, and 52.8–60.1%, respectively. Phylogenetic, phenotypic, and chemotaxonomic characteristics as well as comparative genome analyses suggested that strain ZFBP1038T represents a novel species of a new genus, for which the name Saxibacter gen. nov., sp. nov. was assigned with the type strain Saxibacter everestensis ZFBP1038T (= EE 014 T = GDMCC 1.3024 T = JCM 35335 T).

        High selectivity and removal efficiency of lotus root-based activated carbon towards Fe(III) in La(III) solution

        Rare earth elements are an important strategic resource. However, a trace of Fe(III) impurity has serious adverse impact on the performance of rare earth materials. We synthesized a novel nitrogen-containing carbon material, ACLR-400, using lotus root as raw materials. The ACLR-400 was characterized by surface area analyzer, elemental analysis and FT-IR. The selectivity and removal efficiency of ACLR-400 towards Fe(III) were also investigated. The BET specific surface area of ACLR-400 was 68.44m2·g−1, and the average pore diameter was 12.54 nm. With abundant nitrogen- containing functional groups and well-developed internal pore structure, ACLR-400 possesses strong adsorption affinity, excellent selectivity and removal efficiency for Fe(III). The adsorption capacity of ACLR-400 towards Fe(III) could reach to 0.46mmol·g−1, selectivity coefficient with respect to La(III) was 8.9, and removal efficiency was 99.61%. The adsorption isotherm data greatly obey the Freundlich isotherm. In addition, ACLR-400 can be regenerated easily and possesses better regeneration ability and reusability.

        Preparation and characterization of boron films used for boron-lined gaseous neutron detectors

        Boron-lined gaseous neutron detectors are being widely used in neutron detection to replace 3He proportional counters, and the boron film’s parameters comprise the key factors influencing the performance of such detectors. However, the method of characterizing boron film is relatively simple at present. In this study, boron films stuck to ultrathin glass substrate with different mass proportions of epoxy to natural boron (MPENBs) were prepared. A variety of characterization methods, including scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, white-light interferometry, and multiple tape tests, were used to test the boron films simultaneously, and the test results are discussed herein. Moreover, neutron imaging was conducted to analyze the uniformity of boron-10 atoms. These characterization results demonstrate that the optimized MPENB formulation is 0.16 with the boron atomic ratio of chemical elements (ARCE) at approximately 68.8% and surface roughness Sa = 1.457 μm and that the structure of boron film is uniform and fluffy, contributing to improving the boron-lined method.

        Research on the Correlation between Wavy Modeling of Garment and Fabric Properties

        On the basis of garment spatial configuration technology, the correlation of fabric properties and garment modeling was studied in this paper. With abundant experimental data, practical modeling and the judgment of fabric properties and physical shape, we analyzed the change rules that restricting all kinds of parameters of fabric properties and garment modeling, and discussed the relation of wavy modeling and all correlated factors of fabric properties. The result showed the basis of choosing fabric for different style garment, which would help designers choosing fabric for modeling design or structure design.

        Selective Removal of Al(III) from Rare Earth Solutions Using Peas-based Activated Carbon

        Efficiently removing Al(III) from rare earth is very significant because even trace amount of Al(III) can cause serious harm to the rare earth materials. In this paper, a nitrogen-containing activated carbon, AC-P700, was synthesized using peas as raw materials. The AC-P700 was characterized by surface area analyzer, FT-IR, and XPS methods. The adsorption and recognition properties of AC-P700 towards Al(III) were investigated, and the recognition mechanism was also analyzed. The BET special surface area of AC-P700 was $1277.1m^2{\cdot}g^{-1}$, and the average pore diameter was 1.90 nm. The AC-P700 possesses strong adsorption affinity and excellent recognition selectivity towards Al(III). The adsorption capacity for Al(III) could reach to $0.53mmol{\cdot}g^{-1}$, and relative selectivity coefficients relative to La(III) and Ce(III) is 9.6 and 8.7, respectively. Besides, AC-P700 possesses better regeneration ability and reusability.

        Generalized strictly diagonally dominant matrices have a wide range of applications in matrix theory and practical applications, so it is of great theoretical and practical value to study their numerical determination methods. In this paper, we study the numerical determination of generalized strictly diagonally dominant matrices by using the properties of generalized strictly diagonally dominant matrices. We obtain a new criterion for subdivision iteration determination of the generalized strictly diagonally dominant matrices by subdividing the set of non-prevailing row indices and constructing new iteration factors for the set of predominant row indices, new elements of the positive diagonal factors are derived. Advantages are illustrated by numerical examples.
