Canine mammary gland tumors (CMGTs), which are the most common neoplasms in sexually intact female dogs, have been suggested as a model for studying human breast cancer because of several similarities, including relative age of onset, risk factors, incidence, histological and molecular features, biological behavior, metastatic pattern, and responses to therapy. In the present study, we established a new cell line, the SNP cell line, from a CMGT. A tumor formed in each NOD.CB17-Prkdcscid/J mouse at the site of subcutaneous SNP cell injection. SNP cells are characterized by proliferation in a tubulopapillary pattern and are vimentin positive. Moreover, we examined miRNA expression in the cultured cells and found that the expression values of miRNA-143 and miRNA-138a showed the greatest increase and decrease, respectively, of all miRNAs observed, indicating that these miRNAs might play a significant role in the malignancy of SNP cells. Overall, the results of this study indicate that SNP cells might serve as a model for future genetic analysis and clinical treatments of human breast tumors.

Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Purpose: To investigate the association between vaginal delivery and pelvic parameters and clarify the effect of parity on parameter fluctuations. Overview of Literature: During vaginal delivery, the sacroiliac joint widens and the sacrum nutates (nods). However, the association between these pelvic parameters and parity is unknown. Methods: As part of a 2016 health screening, 320 female volunteers underwent whole-spine radiographs. Age-matched healthy women were grouped according to the number of vaginal deliveries (0, 1–2, or ≥3). Demographic variables and spinopelvic parameters were compared among the three groups. Results: Of the 320 volunteers, 213 were enrolled (mean age, 71.1±7.2 years). The mean number of vaginal deliveries was 2.2. The average pelvic incidence (PI) was 55.6°±11.1° and was significantly higher in the 90 women with three or more vaginal deliveries than in the other two groups (p<0.001). The average sacral slope was 33.4°±11.1° and was significantly higher in the women with three or more vaginal deliveries than in the 18 who did not deliver vaginally (p<0.001). The 105 women with one or two vaginal deliveries had significantly higher PIs and sacral slopes than did those who did not deliver vaginally (p<0.001). Conclusions: This is the first study documenting an association between vaginal delivery and pelvic parameters. Bony birth canal realignment during vaginal delivery can affect postnatal PI. Our study helps in understanding the PI changes over a woman’s life span.
Development of Flexible Robot Gripper Holding Deformation by Electromagnetic Brake
Tomohiro Kuwano,Takeshi Nishida 제어로봇시스템학회 2019 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2019 No.10
We developed a flexible robot gripper which holds the deformation of a flexible bag enclosing an object by a magnetic brake. Since the gripper has no fluid in the flexible bag, it is not susceptible to gravity during the gripping operation, and can grip the object in various postures. Also, there is no concern of liquid leakage, and most of the component parts can be easily manufactured by 3D printing. Furthermore, it can be operated by supplying power to the electromagnet brake without complex control.

In Mongolian gerbils, bilateral common carotid artery occlusion (BCCAO) for several minutes induces ischemia, due to an incomplete circle of Willis, resulting in delayed neuronal cell death in the Cornet d’Ammon 1 (CA1) region of the hippocampus. Neuronal cell death in the hippocampus and changes in behavior were examined after BCCAO was performed for 5 min in the gerbils. One day after BCCAO, the pyramidal neurons of the CA1 region of the hippocampus showed degenerative changes (clumped chromatin in nuclei). At 5 and 10 days after BCCAO, extensive neuronal cell death was observed in the hippocampal CA1 region. Cognitive performance was evaluated by using the radial maze and passive avoidance tests. In the radial maze test, which examines win-stay performance, the number of errors was significantly higher in ischemic gerbils than in sham-operated gerbils on days 1 and 2 post-operation. In the passive avoidance test, the latency and freezing times were significantly shorter in ischemic gerbils than in sham-operated gerbils on the days 1, 2, and 4–6 post-operation. These results indicate that transient forebrain ischemia impairs cognitive performance, even immediately after the ischemic insult when there are only subtle signs of neuronal cell death.
Object Recognition from Spherical Camera Images Based on YOLOv3
Tomohiro Kai,Humin Lu,Tohru Kamiya 제어로봇시스템학회 2020 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2020 No.10
The aging of Japan is remarkable, and attention has been focused on the use and utilization of assistive devices. One of them is electric wheelchair, which enables physical disability people to easily operate it using a handle or a joystick. However, accidents are occurring frequently with increasing demand by using electric wheelchair. Therefore, developing an autonomous electric wheelchair is required to reduce accidents such as maneuvering mistakes, reduce the accident rate, improve convenience, and reduce the burden on caregivers. In this paper, we focus on the recognition of obstacles and use panoramic images obtained from a spherical camera that can easily handle information from all directions at low cost. A spherical camera is attached to an electric wheelchair, and images are cut out from the sequential images obtained by running. For image analysis, YOLOv3, which has been successful in the field of image recognition in recent years, is used. In the proposed method, considering the distortion of the image caused by using the spherical camera, the improvement of the model of YOLOv3 is examined, and the validity with the actual data is verified.
Leveraging Devices, Data and Discovery for Smarter Healthcare in Japan
Tomohiro Sawa 대한의료정보학회 2011 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.17 No.3
Objectives: Over the past decade, hospitals and clinics have gradually adopted hospital information systems, including provider order entries and electronic health records. Although these systems have helped to improve patient safety and efficiency of healthcare providers, not all healthcare providers and patients are satisfied with the current situation. Healthcare should be smarter. Thus, there is a need for state-of-the-art medical and healthcare devices that can handle massive amounts of data with the help of sophisticated information processing and discovery technologies. Methods: This article compares hospital information systems with the information systems of other social infrastructures. It also explores the possibilities of smarter healthcare, including personal health devices and personal health records with interoperability. Results: The main traits of the iEHR at Teikyo University Hospital in Tokyo include IT governance, unification, and workflow efficiency. Conclusions:Smarter healthcare can be achieved by leveraging the full capabilities of devices, data, and sophisticated algorithms.
Design Consideration of a Secure Sensor Chip for Home Cancer Examination
Tomohiro Tanaka,Kazuya Tanigawa,Tetsuo Hironaka,Takashi Ishiguro 대한전자공학회 2015 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2015 No.6
We propose a secure sensor chip for disposable medical examination for home use. Secure sensor chip is required to have functions for encryption and authentication to prevent personal information leakage. In this paper, we estimated secure sensor chip implementations by specific hardware and micro-controller respectively. As a result, the implementation of specific hardware is 40% of chip area in terms of NAND gates, compared with the micro-controller one.
