Does the quality of motivation matter for frequent consumption of vegetables?

Despite best intentions to eat vegetables, the consumption of vegetables is very low. Applying Social Determination Theory, we examined the possible unique contribution of intrinsic motivation (i.e., enjoyment of taste) versus identified regulation (i.e., conscious valuation of benefits) for healthy eating to the frequency of serving cruciferous vs. noncruciferous vegetables in a prospective two-wave survey. Intrinsic motivation was significantly associated with the consumption of non-cruciferous vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, potatoes), whereas identified regulation was not. In contrast, the preparation of cruciferous vegetables was neither significantly influenced by intrinsic motive nor by identified regulation. Understanding of motivations for eating vegetables may inform effective interventions.
이동컴퓨팅환경에서 데이타의 접근 빈도 및 시맨틱 관계를 고려한 방송 방법

이동 컴퓨팅(mobile computing) 환경이 가지는 통신 대역의 협소함과 이동 기기의 에너지 제약 때문에 데이타 베이스 서버에서 다수의 이동 클라이언트로 데이타를 전달할 때는 브로드캐스트(broadcast)가 효과적이다. 기존의 여러 가지 브로드캐스트 방법은 클라이언트의 데이타 접근 빈도(access frequency)를 이용하여 전송 스케줄을 정하거나, 데이타들의 시맨틱 관계(semantic relationship)를 이용하여 전송 스케줄을 결정하였다. 데이타의 접근 빈도만을 반영하는 경우 클라이언트들이 접근하는 데이타들의 의미적 관계를 고려하지 않으므로 클라이언트가 밀접한 시맨틱 관계를 갖는 데이타를 차례로 접근해야 하는 경우 오랜 시간 동안 무선 채널을 듣고 있어야 한다. 시맨틱 관계만을 반영하여 전송 스케줄을 작성하면, 클라이언트가 시맨틱 관계는 없으나 접근 빈도가 높은 특정 데이타를 자주 접근할 필요가 있는 경우, 클라이언트의 데이타 접근 시간이 길어지게 된다. 이 논문에서는 데이타 접근 빈도와 시맨틱 관계를 함께 반영하여 이동 클라이언트의 데이타 접근 시간을 개선한 효율적인 하이브리드 데이타 브로드캐스트 방법을 제안한다. 우리가 제안하는 하이브리드 브로드캐스트 방법은 데이타 접근 빈도에 의해 브로드캐스트 스케줄을 생성한 후, 스케줄 상 데이타 전송 위치를 시맨틱 관계에 따라 조정한다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 기존의 방법들과 성능을 비교 분석하여 우리의 방법이 효율적임을 보인다. Data broadcast is an effective data transmission method from a data base server to numerous mobile clients due to the restrictions on mobile environment such as low wireless communication bandwidth and energy shortage of mobile devices. There are various broadcast methods based on clients' data access frequencies or semantic relationship of data. The broadcast schedule based only on the access frequencies does not consider semantic relations of data, so that when a client needs to access a series of semantically related data, the client has to listen to the wireless channel for a long time. On the other hand, the broadcast schedule based only on semantic relationship of data makes data access time longer when clients highly request specific data which are not semantically related but frequently accessed. In this paper, we present an efficient data broadcast method based on not only data access frequencies but also semantic relationship to improve mobile clients' query response time. The new hybrid broadcast method we propose creates a data broadcast schedule according to the data access frequencies and then the schedule is adjusted to reflect semantic relationship of data. We show our method is efficient by experimental performance analysis.

Microchannel plates (MCPs) have been developed by introducing new materials and process technologies. Main body was made of alumina by programmable punching, laminating, and firing. The channel walls of pore arrays of an MCP were deposited with thin films by electro1ess copper plating and sol-gel process. Our MCP has advantages such as easy fabrication, durability, high temperature endurance, and applicability to the large size comparing with the conventional MCPs. Experiments on the brightness of an MCP incorporated FED revealed that the FED with a MCP is three to four times brighter than a conventional FED. Moreover, the focusing in a FED is improved. Incorporating an MCP into a FED is one of promising methods to enhance the characteristics of the FED. In addition, amplification yield of the MCP is measured for varying the aspect ratio and the input current.
The Effects of Incentives to Employees on The innovation and Financial Performance of Chinese Firms

본 연구는 첨단기술기업과 인센티브 관련 활동이 2,517개 중국 상장된 기업의 재무성과 및 기술혁신에 미치 는 영향을 상하이 및 선전 증권거래소에 조사하였다. 또한 본 연구는 RESSET 데이터베이스와 CSMAR 데이터 베이스에서 21,277개의 기업연도 관측치를 병합한 패널 데이터를 사용하였다. 특히 본 연구에서는 LM과 Hausman 검정과 같은 모델 선택 과정을 통해 REM과 OLS와 같은 다른 인기 있는 회귀모형에 비해 선택이 가 장 적합한 모델인 FEM을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 핵심기술직원에 대한 지분 인센티브 제공이 장단기적으로 기업의 기술혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다. 둘째, 경영진 지분이 단기적으로 기업의 기술혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 미치지만, 장기적으로는 그렇지 않다. 셋째, 핵심기술직원에 대한 지분 인센티브 제공이 장단기적으로 기업성과에 부정적인 영향을 미친다. 넷째, 경영진 지분이 단기적으로 그리고 3년 이내의 기업성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다. This study investigated the effects of high-tech firms, and incentive-related activities on the financial performance and technological innovation of 2,517 Chinese listed firms on Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges. Moreover, this study used 21,277 firm-year panel data, extracted from a merged data set of the RESSET database and the CSMAR database. In particular, this study used an FEM, selection as the best-fit model over other popular regression models, such as REM and OLS, through a model selection process such as LM and Hausman tests. First, equity incentives of technician employees positively affect technological innovation in the short and long run. Second, management shareholding has a positive effect on technological innovation in the short run, but not in the long run. Third, equity incentives of technician employees have a negative effect on performance in the short and long run. Fourth, management shareholding has a positive effect on performance in the short run and within 3 years.

In this paper, we will treat the diagnosis problem to accurately determine fault types. The judgement of fault types is accomplished by observing the cluster newly formed with faults and clustering the input current waveforms to intrinsically show the conditions with the dignet that is a clustering algorithm. The types of input current waveforms are, however, constrained during normal operation, though it considers the load character. In case of faults, new clusters are generated outside the clusters, which appear during normal operation, because the input Current waveforms of the induction motor are generated by the type which is not observed in case of faults. The diagnosis about the types of faults is essential to building a fault tree about the induction motor, and it removes the causes of the faults using a fuzzy logic. We, first, constitute a fault tree, which connects with the parts and the entire system of the induction motor, and investigate fault modes which can be generated from the fault tree and the relationship of the cause and the effect of each part (of the motor). Also, we distinguish the faults of each part by means of inducing the said of fuzzy relation equations encapsulating the relationship of the fault modes and each part.

<P>We report directional single mode emission in an InGaAsP semiconductor microcavity laser, which is composed of a circle and an isosceles trapezoid. When exciting a whole cavity, the laser generates a single mode without hopping in two directions over a wide range of continuous injection currents. In the emission spectrum, it is confirmed from the equidistant mode spacing that a scar mode becomes a single lasing mode above the lasing threshold. A numerical analysis of the boundary element method shows that the far-field pattern of the resonance agrees well with that of the experiment.</P>
