        지속 가능한 개발과 환경관리를 위한 관심은 지속되고 있고 온실가스 배출량에서 많은 부분을 차지하고 있는 건물부문의 환경부하 관리에 대한 중요성은 증가하고 있다. 건물부문은 국내 온실가스 배출량의 1/4을 차지하고 있으며 이미 국내외적으로 건물의 건설단계부터 폐기단계까지 전 과정에 걸쳐 환경오염에 미치는 영향이 막대하다고 보고되고 있다. 국내 건물부문의 환경부하 평가는 대부분 건물이 건설된 이후 단계에서 사용되는 에너지 사용량에 초점을 맞춰 수행되고 있다. 하지만 건물이 건설되기 이전단계부터 폐기되어 다시 건설되는 전 생애주기에서 이들이 환경에 주는 영향은 이보다 더 클 수밖에 없다. 이에 본 연구에서는 건물부문 환경부하 평가모형 개발을 위한 문헌연구의 일환으로 국내외 친환경 건축물 건설을 위한 국내외 계획, 제도, 연구를 살펴보았다. 또한 전과정평가의 방법론을 살펴봄으로써 합리적인 국토개발을 위한 정책수립의 근거자료로서의 방법론을 제안하고자 한다. 본 연구는 건물부문 환경부하 평가모형 개발을 위한 기초연구로서 국토 및 환경정책에 활용하기 위한 방법론의 연구 동향 조사에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 건물부문이 환경에 미치는 영향과 지속 가능한 건물에 대한 개념을 살펴보았다. 또한 지속 가능한 건물을 계획하기 위한 국내외 계획 및 제도를 검토하고 국제적인 연구 및 정책 동향을 살펴보았다. 이어서 건물의 전 생애주기에서 건물이 환경에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 전과정평가 방법론을 연구하였다. 전과정평가 수행 시 목록분석 방법론 3가지와 건물 전 생애주기에서 단계별 전과정평가 방법론을 연구하였다. 더불어 전과정평가를 수행할 수 있도록 개발된 국내외 데이터 및 소프트웨어를 조사하였다. 마지막으로 건물부문 전과정평가 방법론을 활용할 수 있는 국내 국토계획 및 환경정책에 대해 고찰하였다. 본 연구는 건물 전과정평가를 국토 및 환경정책에 활용하기 위한 방법론 개발 및 정책제언을 위한 동향연구로서 향후 연구의 기반을 마련하는 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다. The importance of environmental assessment in the building sector has increased along with the growing interest in sustainable development and environmental management. The building sector accounts for about 25% of the nation`s total greenhouse gas emission and it is reported that the environmental impact of this sector throughout the life cycle from construction to demolition is enormous. Environmental assessment of the building sector in South Korea focuses mainly on energy uses during the use phase of buildings. However, the impact of buildings on the environment is much higher throughout its life cycle. Thus, this research as part of a literature review aimed at development environmental assessment models for the building sector investigates national and international plans, systems, and researches for the construction of environmentally-friendly buildings. Also, the research by studying life cycle assessment methodologies suggests the use of these methodologies to support policy makings of land planning as well as environmental planning. The aim of this working paper is to review literatures to develop environmental assessment models and it focuses on methodology researches to be used for land and environmental policies. This paper discusses the impact of buildings on the environment and the concept of sustainable buildings. Also, it examines national and international plans and policies about plans for sustainable buildings, and investigates related international research and policy trend. Also, it investigates life cycle assessment methodology in order to determine the environmental impact of buildings throughout their life cycle, including three methodologies in life cycle inventory as well as life cycle stages of buildings. Moreover, the paper analyzes data and software developed to perform life cycle assessment of buildings. It concludes with suggestions that this life cycle assessment can be used for national land use planning and environmental planning for scientific and rational decision-makings. This working paper may serve as a research basis for the next phase of research concerning the development of environmental assessment models for buildings that can support environmental policies.

        이상과 거트루드 스타인의 모더니즘적 욕망

        This paper examines the modernist desire, which is found in the works of Yi Sang and Gertrude Stein in common, to escape from square planar writing style. Stein’s poetry has been devalued in modernism due to its hermetic and recondite writing style. However, this incomprehensibility problem can be solved with understanding Yi Sang’s poetry. Both writers had profound knowledge and interests in modern mathematical methods, science, and painting. This makes the base for comparing two with the same perspective. Yi Sang’s impassioned writings embody an exorbitant amount of scientific knowledge, showing his desire to dispose of square planar geometry and head into three-dimensional structures. When we use his poetry as a tool to understand Stein’s poetry, her works turn out to be giving body to Yi Sang’s poetics. Stein’s poetry paints an object as an event using multiple points of view which are thrown from every direction in a three-dimensional space. In other words, Stein’s works visualize the stereoscopic understanding of an object/event when Yi Sang’s non-planar poetic projection is applied to her works. Since the amount of academic achievements on Yi Sang’s poetry is much larger than on Stein in Korea, this approach can help understand the meanings hidden in Stein’s works. Although there exist the differences in terms of their sensitivity and style, the desire to establish a new style of poetic thinking and writing is the core of modernist’s desire in the early 20<SUP>th</SUP> century.

      • 도시재생 활성화지역 노후건물의 재정비 시나리오별 환경적 지속가능성 평가를 위한 기초연구

        도시재생 뉴딜정책이 시행됨에 따라 우리나라는 전국적으로 쇠퇴한 도시 지역을 중심으로 도시재생 사업이 추진될 것이다. 그리고 이 중 많은 곳에서 물리적 정비가 활발하게 진행될 것으로 예상된다. 그러나 도시재생 사업과 관련한 논의와 연구는 대부분 도시재생을 통한 지역살리기나 경제활성화와 같은 경제적인 문제, 그리고 젠트리피케이션 등의 사회적인 불평등 문제에 국한되어 있다. 지속가능한 도시를 만들기 위해서는 경제, 사회적 문제뿐만 아니라 환경적인 문제도 통합적으로 고려할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 노후건물의 재정비에 따른 환경부하 발생량을 정량적으로 측정할 수 있는 도구를 개발하고 향후 정책의 근거자료로 활용할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 도시재생을 위한 물리적 정비사업 추진 시, 노후건물 정비 시나리오별 환경적 지속가능성을 평가하기 위한 기초연구로서, 노후건물 정비의 지속가능성 평가 연구 및 모델을 검토하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 내용으로 구성하였다. 먼저 도시재생의 개념을 정리하고 도시재생 사업에서의 물리적 정비 범위에 대해 살펴보았다. 그리고 환경적 지속가능성의 일반적 개념에 대해 알아보고, 이를 토대로 본 연구에서는 해당 연구목적에 맞는 환경적 지속가능성의 개념에 대해 그 범위를 구체화하였다. 또한 건물 분야에서 환경적 지속가능성을 높이기 위한 국내외 정책을 조사하였다. 향후 도시재생 사업의 정책결정 도구로서 환경적 지속가능성 평가 모델을 개발하기 위해 본 연구에서 정의한 환경적 지속가능성 평가 도구에 해당하는 세 가지 방법론, 즉 전과정평가, 물질흐름분석, 에머지분석에 집중하였다. 각 방법론의 개념을 정리하고 국내외 문헌을 조사하여 연구 목적에 부합하는 문헌을 검토 및 분석하였다. 마지막으로 도시재생 사업에서 노후건물을 재정비할 때 발생할 수 있는 시나리오를 제시하고 재정비 시나리오에서 발생 가능한 환경부하에 대해 고찰하였다. 그리고 각 방법론에 적합한 시나리오 설정 방법을 제안하였고, 이를 토대로 향후 관련 연구의 목적에 맞게 시나리오를 구체화하고 적절한 방법론을 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 향후 도시재생의 환경적 지속가능성을 평가할 수 있는 평가 도구 개발 연구의 기초연구로서 의의가 있다 하겠다. As the Urban Regeneration New Deal becomes effective, urban regeneration projects will be launched at the diminishing areas in Republic of Korea, and it is expected to include active physical development. However, previous discussion and studies related to the urban regeneration projects are limited to the economic issues such as community revitalization and economic development, as well as social inequity issues like gentrification. In order to make sustainable cities, the environmental matter should be considered simultaneously with the economic and social matters. Thus, tools to measure environmental load for refurbishment of the old buildings should be developed quantitatively and they should be utilized in the basis of further policies. This study is a basic research to evaluate environmental sustainability of the rehabilitation scenarios of the old buildings as well as the physical refurbishment in the urban regeneration target areas. The purpose of the study is to review the literatures and models related to the evaluation of the environmental sustainability about the old building refurbishments. The study consists of the following contents. First, the concept of the urban regeneration and the investigation on the scope of the physical refurbishment are described. Second, review on the general concept of environmental sustainability and specific concept of environmental sustainability which suits the purpose of this study are presented. Third, examinations on the domestic and international policies for increasing the environmental sustainability in the field of buildings are conducted. Fourth, to develop the evaluation model of the environmental sustainability as a further decision-making tool for the urban regeneration projects, this study focuses on the three methodologies: 1) Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), 2) Material Flow Analysis (MFA) and 3) Emergy Analysis. The concept of each methodology is summarized and the study also includes the reviews and analysis of the domestic and international documents in conformity with the purpose of the study. Lastly, the study suggests the scenarios for rehabilitating the old building in the urban regeneration areas and investigates possible environmental loads in the rehabilitation scenarios. Moreover, the study suggests how to set scenarios for each methodology. The study has significance in the development of the evaluation tools for environmental sustainability in the urban regeneration areas in the future.

      • Distribution of Mast Cells and Locations, Depths, and Sizes of the Putative Acupoints CV 8 and KI 16

        <P>The anatomical locations and sizes of acupuncture points (APs) are identified in traditional Chinese medicine by using the cun measurement method. More precise knowledge of those locations and sizes to submillimeter precision, along with their cytological characterizations, would provide significant contributions both to scientific investigations and to precise control of the practice of acupuncture. Over recent decades, researchers have come to realize that APs in the skin of rats and humans have more mast cells (MCs) than neighboring nonacupoints. In this work, the distribution of MCs in the ventral skin of mice was studied so that it could be used to infer the locations, depths from the epidermis, and sizes of three putative APs. The umbilicus was taken as the reference point, and a transversal cross section through it was studied. The harvested skins from 8-week-old mice were stained with toluidine blue, and the MCs were recognized by their red-purple stains and their metachromatic granules. The three putative APs, CV 8 and the left and the right KI 16 APs, were identified based on their high densities of MCs. These findings also imply that acupuncture may stimulate, through MCs, an immune response to allergic inflammation.</P>

      • Domain-engineered BiFeO3 thin-film photoanodes for highly enhanced ferroelectric solar water splitting

        <P>In photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting, charge separation and collection by the electric field in the photoactive material are the most important factors for improved conversion efficiency. Hence, ferroelectric oxides, in which electrons are the majority carriers, are considered promising photoanode materials because their high built-in potential, provided by their spontaneous polarization, can significantly enhance the separation and drift of photogenerated carriers. In this regard, the PEC properties of BiFeO3 thin-film photoanodes with different crystallographic orientations and consequent ferroelectric domain structures are investigated. As the crystallographic orientation changes from (001)(pc) via (110)(pc) to (111)(pc), the ferroelastic domains in epitaxial BiFeO3 thin films become mono-variant and the spontaneous polarization levels increase to 110 mu C/cm(2). Consequently, the photocurrent density at 0 V vs. Ag/AgCl increases approximately 5.3-fold and the onset potential decreases by 0.180 V in the downward polarization state. It is further demonstrated that ferroelectric switching in the (111)(pc) BiFeO3 thin-film photoanode leads to an approximate change of 8,000% in the photocurrent density and a 0.330 V shift in the onset potential. This study strongly suggests that domain-engineered ferroelectric materials can be used as effective charge separation and collection layers for efficient solar water-splitting photoanodes.</P>

      • The effect of advertising on sales

        “How does advertising affect sales?” is the fundamental issue of modern advertising research. There is an interesting issue for estimating carry over effects of advertising on sales, and the aggregated data biases exist in the duration of advertising effect. This research suggests a modified model at micro-data using Koyck model (Koyck 1954) by estimated model the aggregate data, and empirically shows the aggregated data bias. Our modified model with the aggregated level of actual data is more appropriate than the base model for micro-data. The result shows that it is very important to consider the disaggregated data level in the analysis of dynamic effects of adverting such as lagged effects.

        Association of Maternal Diabetes with Neonatal Outcomes of Very Low Birth Weight Infants

        Objective: Women with diabetes mellitus (DM) are at high risk for preterm delivery. However, reported findings on the effects of maternal diabetes on the outcome of very low birth weight infants (VLBWIs) are inconsistent. This study compared the mortality and morbidity among VLBWIs born to women with and without DM. Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we included data on VLBWI without congenital malformations born between April 2013 and September 2020. Neonatal outcomes according to maternal diabetes, type of diabetes, and maternal insulin treatment were compared using multivariate logistic analysis. Results: Of 756 infants, 61 were born to women with DM. Of these 61 mothers, 55 had gestational DM, while 6 had pregestational DM. After adjusting for confounders, it was observed that VLBWI born to women with diabetes were less likely to develop sepsis. The risk of grade 3 or 4 intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) was higher in the insulin-requiring DM group. There was no significant difference in the mortality of VLBWI under any maternal condition. Conclusion: Maternal diabetes lowers the prevalence of sepsis in VLBWI, which is particularly augmented in the insulin-requiring DM group. However, maternal insulin treatment increases the incidence of severe IVH in VLBWI.

        Re-Considering Aggregated Data Bias by Extending "Koyck Model" of Advertising Effect

        "How does advertising affect sales?" is the fundamental issue of modern advertising research. There is an interesting issue for estimating carryover effects of advertising on sales, and the aggregated data biases exist in the duration of advertising effect. This research suggests an extended model of Koyck Model which is employed for micro-data (Koyck 1954) to estimate aggregated advertising data. and empirically shows the aggregated data bias. Our developed model with the aggregated level of actual advertising data is more appropriate than the basic Koyck model for micro-data. The result figures out that it is important to consider the disaggregated data level in the analysis of dynamic effects of adverting such as carryover effects.
