      • 입제의 수면처리에 의한 주요수도해충의 동시방제

        본 시험은 유기인계 살충제인 Terracur P입제 및 Lebaycid 입제와 유기염소계 살충제인 상감마입제$(\gamma-BHC 입제)$를 수면시용 하였을때 수도요해충인 이화명충, 끝 동매미충, 애멸구 및 흰둥멸구에 대한 동시방제가능성과 방제적기를 구명하고 약제간의 방제효과를 비교코저 실시하였다. 얻어진 시험결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 약제처리후 부화직후 이화명충 접종 시험에 있어서 상감마와 Terracur P는 높은 살충율을 보였으나 Lebaycid의 살충율은 낮았다. 約 $50\%$ 살충력 잔효일수에 있어서 상감마는 8-14日이었고 Terracur P는 6일간이었다. 2) 당초 계획된 방제적기에 관한 정보는 얻을 수 없었다. 즉 주어진 일간격이 좁아 유의한 차를 얻을 수 없었다. 3) 1,2화기 이화명충에 대한 방제효과는 Terracur P=상감마>Lebaycid의 순이었다. 4) Terracur P와 Lebaycid 입제의 처리는 끝동매미충의 방제효과가 좋았으나 상감마$(\gamma-BHC 입제)$의 방제효과는 기대할 수 없었다. 끝동매미충에 대한 Terracur P와 Lebaycid입제의 잔효력은 30일 이상이었다. 5) 애멸구와 흰등별구에 대한 시험은 충의 서식밀도가 낮기 때문에 약제간 방제효과를 얻을 수 없었다. 6) 공시약제중 Terracur P와 Lebaycidd입제는 이화명충과 끌동매미충의 동시방제제로서 사용할 수 있을 것 같다. This experiment was conducted to find out the simultaneous control effect of granulated insecticides on the several major rice insect pests in Korea. The granulated insecticides used were Terracur P$5\%$ (one of the phosphoric insecticides), Lebaycid $5\%$, and Sang-gamma (gamma-BHC) $6\%$. Those insecticides were broadcasted by hand on the paddy field at the ratio of 3kg. in June and 4kg. in August per 10 a, and the date of insecticidal application was based on the maximum moth occurrence of the rice stem borer in 1969. The rice insect pests tested in this study were rice stem borer (Chilo suppressalis W.), green rice leafhopper (Nephotettix bipunctatus cincticeps U.), smiller brown planthopper (Laodelphax striatellus F.), and white back planthopper (Sogotella furcifera H.). For the study of residual effectiveness of the insecticides, the rice stem borer larvae just hatched from the eggs were installed on the sheath of rice plants collected from the paddy field after insecticidal treatment, and the mortality was made at 48 hours after installation. High mortality was observed in Terracur P and Sang-gamma treatments and low mortality in Lebaycid treatment. The duration of residual effects giving about 50% mortality was about 14 days in Sang-gamma and about 6 days in Terracur P treatments. The study on the effectiveness of the insecticides to the rice stem borer in the paddy field was made by the number of dead blades and white heads of the rice plants injured by the larvae, and the number of survival larvae in the straws after crop harvest. The order of insecticidal effectiveness to the rice stem borer was Terracur P=Sang-gamm>Lebaycid. The study on the effectiveness of the insecticides to the leafhoppers and planthoppers in the paddy field was made by the population density by sweeping (5 times) at the given day intervals after treatments. Terracur P was highly effective for the control of the green rice leafhoppers and Lebaycid was moderately effective, but Sang-gamma seemed not to be effective. The effectiveness of the insecticides tested to the planthoppers was not clear, and it seemed to related with the low insect population density. Study on the determination of proper timing of insecticidal application was not also made clear, and it seemed to be short in the range of day intervals in the insecticidal application. For the study on the control effects of the rice insect pests, rice yield per 100 hills per plot was observed. There was no statistically significant difference among the treatments in rice yields, but the order of yield (Terracur P>Sang-gamma>Lebaycid>Control) was paralleled with the tends of control effects above mentioned. In a view point of simultaneous control of the rice stem borers and green rice leafhoppers by the application of granulated insecticides, Terracur P and Lebaycid were more effective than Sang-gamma which have been used.

        Optimal Beamforming Schemes and its Capacity Behavior for Downlink Distributed Antenna Systems

        <P>In this paper, we investigate the outage and ergodic capacity of downlink distributed antenna systems (DAS) where each distributed antenna unit (DAU) has multiple antennas with per-DAU power constraint. We first derive the optimal beamforming vector in a closed form by applying a matrix minor condition to relax the positive semi-definite constraint. We observe that our derived solution has a form of maximum ratio transmission per each DAU with full power. Based on the derived optimal beamforming, the outage and ergodic capacity under Rayleigh fading channels are analyzed. To this end, we show that a distribution of the received signal-to-noise ratio is characterized as a Gamma distribution by approximating a sum of non-identical independent Nakagami-m random variables as a single Nakagami-m random variable based on the moment matching method. Then, we present an accurate formula of the outage and ergodic capacity in a closed form which matches well with the simulation results. Furthermore, we derive an upper bound of an achievable average rate of DAS with limited feedback. We then propose a new feedback bit allocation algorithm to maximize the derived metric. Simulation results confirm the accuracy of the derived outage and ergodic capacity expressions and the efficiency of the proposed bit allocation method.</P>

      • Heat Dissipation of Transparent Graphene Defoggers

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>In spite of recent successful demonstrations of flexible and transparent graphene heaters, the underlying heat‐transfer mechanism is not understood due to the complexity of the heating system. Here, graphene/glass defoggers are fabricated and the dynamic response of the temperature as a function of input electrical power is measured. The graphene/glass defoggers reveal shorter response times than Cr/glass defoggers. Furthermore, the saturated temperature of the graphene/glass defoggers is higher than for Cr/glass defoggers at a given input electrical power. The observed dynamic response to temperature is well‐fitted to the power‐balance model. The response time of graphene/glass defogger is shorter by 44% than that of the Cr/glass defogger. The convective heat‐transfer coefficient of graphene is 12.4 × 10<SUP>−4</SUP> W cm<SUP>−2</SUP> °C<SUP>−1</SUP>, similar to that of glass (11.1 × 10<SUP>−4</SUP> W cm<SUP>−2</SUP> °C<SUP>−1</SUP>) but smaller than that of chromium (17.1 × 10<SUP>−4</SUP> W cm<SUP>−2</SUP> °C<SUP>−1</SUP>). The graphene‐based system reveals the lowest convective heat‐transfer coefficient due to its ideal flat surface compared to its counterparts of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and reduced graphene oxide (RGO)‐based systems.</P>

      • Approaching ultimate flexible organic light-emitting diodes using a graphene anode

        <P>Ultimate flexible organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) should have an ultra-high device efficiency, a low-efficiency roll-off at a high luminance and excellent flexibility. Here, we realized flexible tandem OLEDs using a graphene anode with a very high electroluminescent efficiency of similar to 205.9 cd A(-1), 45.2% (similar to 396.4 cd A(-1), 87.3% with a hemispherical lens) and a very low efficiency roll-off at a high luminance of similar to 6.6% at 10 000 cd m(-2) (similar to 3.8% with a hemispherical lens) by stacking two organic electroluminescence (EL) units. For the first time, we used an easily controlled and low-temperature processable charge generation layer with lithium nitride (Li3N). This simultaneously provided efficient stacking of EL units and enhanced compatibility of the flexible device on a thin plastic substrate. The flexible tandem OLEDs with a graphene anode also showed great flexibility against bending up to a bending strain of 6.7%. These results represent a significant advancement towards the production of next-generation flexible displays and solid-state lighting that use a graphene anode.</P>

      • The prevalence of BRCA mutations among familial breast cancer patients in Korea: results of the Korean Hereditary Breast Cancer study.

        <P>The primary aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of BRCA1/2 mutations among familial breast cancer (BC) patients in Korea. We analyzed 775 familial BC patients who were enrolled in the Korean Hereditary Breast Cancer (KOHBRA) study and treated at 36 institutions between May 2007 and May 2010. Patients with familial BC were defined as BC patients with family histories of BC or ovarian cancer (OC) in any relatives. All probands received genetic counseling and BRCA genetic testing was performed after obtaining informed consent. The mean age of BC diagnosis was 43.6 years. The numbers of probands with family histories of BC only and OC only were 682 and 93, respectively. The overall prevalence of the BRCA mutation among familial BC patients was 21.7 % (BRCA1 9.3 % and BRCA2 12.4 %). Subgroup analyses observed prevalences of the BRCA mutation as follows: 19.6 % among patients with BC family history only (BRCA1 7.6 % and BRCA2 12.0 %) and 36.6 % among patients with OC family history only (BRCA1 21.5 % and BRCA2 15.1 %). Most of the subgroups satisfied the 10 % probability criteria to undergo BRCA testing. However, the prevalence of the BRCA mutations among subgroups that had 2 BC patients in a family with both age at diagnosis of more than 50 years old did not reach the 10 % criteria (4.1 %). Korean familial BC patients are good candidates for BRCA testing even when they have family histories of single breast cancers. However, proband age at diagnosis should be carefully considered when selecting patients for testing.</P>

        Zero-Forcing Beamforming in Multiuser MISO Downlink Systems Under Per-Antenna Power Constraint and Equal-Rate Metric

        <P>In this paper, we analyze the average sum rate of downlink multi-antenna systems with zero-forcing beamforming (ZFBF). In practical implementations, each antenna is equipped with its own power amplifier and is limited individually by linearity of the amplifier. Thus, this paper adopts a more realistic per-antenna power constraint instead of conventional sum-power constraint on transmit antennas. To this end, we first show that a distribution of the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the ZFBF scheme with per-antenna power constraint and equal-rate metric can be approximated as a minimum of chi-square random variables. Based on this result, we present an accurate formula of the average sum rate in a closed form. Furthermore, employing extreme value theory, an expression of the asymptotic average sum rate with large numbers of transmit antennas and users is derived from the limiting distribution of the received SNR. Simulation results verify the validity of our analysis even with not so large numbers of transmit antennas and users.</P>

        Background/Aims: Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activity, reflecting the degree of hepatic necroinflammation, is one of the most frequently measured liver tests in persons who are suspected to have liver disease. But current upper limit of normal (ULN) of ALT, 40 IU/L, often can not detect the subclinical liver disease with minimal to mild inflammation. We, therefore, evaluated the ULN of ALT of healthy adult subjects in order to assess the necessity of revision for currently accepted reference range of ALT. Methods: 23,898 adult subjects who visited for medical examination at Health Promotion Center, Dankook University Hospital, from January 2005 to December 2006, were retrospectively enrolled in the present study. We excluded the adults who had HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HIV, VDRL, history of current medication and alcohol consumption more than 40 g/week, and high risks for liver disease defined as BMI more than 23 kg/m2, serum cholesterol level more than 240 mg/dL, triglyceride more than 200 mg/dL, fasting glucose more than 115 mg/dL, and ultrasonographic liver diseases including fatty change. We defined updated ULN of ALT as activity below 95th percentile for each gender. Results: 5,994 adults (2,983 men, 2,961 women) met the inclusion criteria of this present study. Updated ULN of ALT levels were 38 IU/L in men and 25 IU/L in women. This ALT activity showed a tendency to increase according to age increase, and revealed positive correlation with the ultrasonographic degree of fatty liver. Serum ALT activity below 95th percentile of HBsAg or anti-HCV positive carrier subjects, whose medical conditions were equal to those of enrolled healthy subjects in aspect of biochemical and ultrasonographic finding, were 75 IU/L and 77 IU/L, respectively. Conclusions: Updated ULN of ALT was lower than currently accepted ALT activity. Considering age and gender, current reference range of serum ALT level should be revised for the detection of subclinical liver diseases such as fatty liver.
