Pretreatment systems of Solid-Waste prior to landfilling are currently proposed for acceleration of landfill-site stabilization. In this study, landfill simulation experiments have been carried out, to describe the landfill behavior of incineration residues after water- pretreatment. As result, both organic contents and salt contents in leachate from pretreated residues were found to be sufficiently lower than from untreated.

매립지의 조기 안정화를 위하여 매립에 앞서 폐기물을 전처리하는 시스템이 최근 제안되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 수처리 후 소각재의 매립거동을 나타내기 위하여 매립지 모사 실험이 행해졌다. 그 결과, 전처리된 잔재물의 침출수 중의 유기물 함량과 염류 함량은 처리되지 않은 것 보다 훨씬 더 낮은 것으로 나타났다. Free Rider Facilitated by Trust

In this paper we empirically show that some aspect of trust shall facilitate free riders and we discuss positive meaning of free rider for community governance. Based on Uslaner’s conception of the moral foundation of trust, we introduce the concept of community trust. We assume that community trust works as the moral power that restricts free riders. In addition, however, by being incorporated into the threshold process, it would simultaneously facilitate free riders. After confirming the rational choice framework that consistently explains this contradictory aspect of community trust, we empirically explore how it in fact appears through data. At first, community trust indicates clear restricting effects on free riders, implying that it is closer to moral foundation of trust than general trust. At the same time, being coincide with the above-mentioned rational choice theory, community trust both facilitates and restricts free riders. In this contradictory situation we will find a multilayered composition of free riders that might function to preserve spare energy for producing local public goods when necessary.
Pitch Measurement of 150 nm ID-grating Standards Using an Nanometrological Atomic Force Microscope

Pitch measurements of 150 nm one-dimensional grating standards were carried out using a contact mode atomic force microscopy with a high resolution three-axis laser interferometer. This measurement technique was named as the nano-metrological AFM. In the nano-metrological AFM, three laser interferometers were aligned precisely to the end of an AFM tip. Laser sources of the three-axis laser interferometer in the nano-metrological AFM were calibrated with an I2-stabilized He-Ne laser at a wavelength of 633 nm. Therefore, the Abbe error was minimized and the result of the pitch measurement using the nano-metrological AFM could be used to directly measure the length standard. The uncertainty in the pitch measurement was estimated in accordance with the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM). The primary source of uncertainty in the pitch-measurements was derived from the repeatability of the pitch-measurements, and its value was about 0.186 nm. The average pitch value was 146.65 nm and the combined standard uncertainty was less than 0.262 nm. It is suggested that the metrological AFM is a useful tool for the nano-metrological standard calibration.

Osteochondral lesion is a major joint disease in humans. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the regeneration of articular cartilage and subchondral bone, using three-dimensional constructs of autologous adipose tissuederived mesenchymal stromal cells without any biocompatible scaffolds. Mesenchymal stromal cells were harvested by liposuction from seven pigs, isolated enzymatically, and expanded until construct creation. The pig models had two osteochondral defects (cylindrical defects with a diameter of 5.2 mm and a depth of 5 mm) in one of their patello-femoral grooves. A columnar structure consisting of approximately 770 spheroids of 5 9 104 autologous mesenchymal stromal cells were implanted into one of the defects (implanted defect), while the other defect was not implanted (control). The defects were evaluated pathologically at 6 months (in three pigs) and 12 months (in five pigs) after implantation. At 6 months after surgery, histopathology revealed active endochondral ossification underneath the plump fibrocartilage in the implanted defects, but a deficiency of fibrocartilaginous coverage in the controls. At 12 months after surgery, the fibrocartilage was transforming into hyaline cartilage as thick as the surrounding normal cartilage and the subchondral bone was thickening in the implanted defects. The histological averages of the implanted sites were significantly higher than those in the control sites at both 6 and 12 months after surgery. The implantation of a scaffold-free three-dimensional construct of autologous mesenchymal stromal cells into an osteochondral defect can induce regeneration of hyaline cartilage and subchondral bone structures over a period of 12 months.

The effects of intramuscular fat on the sensory characteristics of M. longissimus dorsi in Japanese Black steers were investigated by a trained analytical panel (average 13.4 panelists). Five sets (10 head) of artificial identical twins were divided into 2 groups, high level of intramuscular fat group (HG) which utilized the fattening method of increasing intramuscular fat and low level of intramuscular fat group (LG) which did not use the above method. Regarding M. longissmus dorsi which was produced for use in the sensory evaluation, crude fat contents of HG and LG was 25.8% and 23.2% respectively (p<0.05). Warner-Bratzler shear force, water holding capacity, cooking loss and fatty acid composition of HG and LG were similar between the two groups. M. Longissimus dorsi taken from HG and LG were tested for their sensory characteristics by a trained panel. HG was given higher points for juiciness than LG (p<0.05). There were no significant differences for tenderness and flavor between the two groups. Overall acceptability which synthesized each of the sensory characteristics of HG and LG were 5.04 and 4.69 points respectively (p = 0.05). These results suggested that juiciness increased with the increase of intramuscular fat, and this raised the overall acceptability of M. longissimus dorsi.
