        발성사고법을 이용한 학생들의 과학 글쓰기 과정 탐색

        It has been recently emphasized that comprehensive understanding of students` cognitive in the process of writhing as well as final product is needed in order to develop an effective strategy for science writing. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of writing process in the situation that students wrote a composition in solving the application problem on a science topic. Seven eighth graders selected in the consideration of their science achievement and communication skills were asked to write a composition using think-aloud method. They were also interviewed after their writing work. The analyses of the results indicated that students` writing processes consisted of six distinctive components: generating, organizing, translating, evaluating, and revising. It was also found that the patterns of process components for each student were different in terms the frequency and the sequence. The patterns of process components were into four types: systematic, tacit planning, trial and error, random strategies. Educational implications were also discussed.

        중학교 자유학기제 체육활동에 대한 학생 인식 및 만족도 분석

        본 연구는 중학교 자유학기제 도입에 따른 교육과정 내 체육활동의 운영에 대한 학생들의 인식 및 만족도를 파악하여 학생들의 꿈과 끼를 실현할 수 있는 체육교육 활성화를 위한 기초 자료로 사용되고자 한다. 이를 위해 2014년도부터 2015년까지 운영된 자유학기제 연구·희망학교 중 11개교를 비확률 표집(nonprobability sampling)하여 632명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 자료처리는 SPSS Ver 23.0을 이용하여 빈도분석, 기술통계 분석, 교차분석, 독립표본 t검증, one-way ANOVA를 실시하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 학생들은 자유학기제 운영 목적에 대한 이해도는 높은 반면, 자유학기제 체육활동과 기본교과 체육수업 간의 차별성을 인식하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학생들이 자유학기제 체육활동을 통해 경험한 활동들은 주로 경기위주의 스포츠 종목 중심으로 자유학기제 취지와 다른 내용을 제공받고 있었다. 셋째, 자유학기제 체육활동에 대한 만족도에 있어 지역, 학교규모 간 유의미한 차이는 보이지 않았지만, 남학생이 여학생보다 수업시수, 수업방법, 관계 개선, 행복도, 진로 탐색 측면에서 높은 만족도를 나타냈다. The purpose of this study is to explore student`s perceptions toward physical education activities in free semester system in Korean middle school. An investigation into student perception toward the various aspects of free semester system physical education activities revealed that, out of the three background variables(gender, region, school size), a difference in perception regarding physical education activity operation was found according to gender. Regarding the perception of preferred class hours, satisfaction and internal change, male students perceived them as many class hours, high satisfaction, and positive change in contrast to female students. This implies that the relative deprivation felt by the female students may take effect if the physical education activities in the free semester system maintains the contents, methods, and ambience of existing physical education classes. Therefore, free semester system physical education activities must be operated in a way that allows all students to participate without creating a blind spot. Based on such results, the study was able to confirm differences in viewpoint from various aspects regarding free semester system physical education activities. This can be the basis for a directional search aimed at the stable settlement of free semester system physical education activities, and requires a strategic discussion for the revitalization of physical education from a wider perspective.

        표준레시피로 조리된 한국 국류 및 찌개류의 엽산과 비타민 B<SUB>12</SUB> 분석 검증

        본 연구는 한국에서 다소비 되는 총 33종의 국 및 찌개류를 표준레시피로 조리하고 이들의 엽산 및 비타민 B12 함량을 각각 tri-enzyme extraction-Lactobacillus casei와 immunoaffinity-HPLC 방법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 또한 본 연구 데이터를 국가식품영양성분 데이터베이스로 활용하기 위하여 적용된 분석법의 유효성을 검증하고 분석품질관리를 수행하여 데이터의 신뢰도를 확보하였다. 각 분석법의 검출한계, 정량한계, 직선성, 정확성 및 정밀성을 분석한 결과, 모든 지표에서 AOAC 가이드라인의 수용 기준에 충족되었으며, 품질관리도표를 이용하여 전 연구기간 동안 모든 분석이 검증된 조건에 따라 신뢰성 있게 수행되었음이 확인되었다. 분석된 총 33종의 국 및 찌개류의 엽산과 비타민 B12 함량은 각각 0.04~36.64 μg/100 g과 0.00~7.04 μg/100 g으로 사용된 재료의 종류에 따라 다양하게 나타났다. 엽산 함량은 국류 중에서는 엽산 함량이 높은 냉이가 주재료인 냉이된장국(23.38 μg/100 g)이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 찌개류 중에서는 주재료로 오징어와 콩나물을 사용한 오징어찌개(36.64 μg/100 g)가 가장 높게 나타났다. 비타민 B12함량의 경우 국류에서는 굴국(7.04 μg/100 g)이, 찌개류에서는 조개된장찌개(4.42 μg/100 g)에서 가장 높게 검출되었으며, 이외의 국 및 찌개류는 약 2 μg/100 g 이하의 범위를 나타내었고 된장국, 호박찌개 등의 식단에서는 비타민 B12가 검출되지 않았다. 국 및 찌개류의 한 끼 식사량 제공량 300 g을 기준으로 할 때 국 및 찌개류 단일 식단을 통해서도 일정 수준의 엽산과 비타민 B12의 섭취가 가능하며, 이를 하루 세 번 다양한 반찬류와 함께 식단을 구성 시 일일섭취량에 필요한 충분한 수준을 섭취할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 본 연구의 분석 신뢰도 확보 데이터와 함께 한국 식단에서 주요한 위치를 차지하고 있는 국 및 찌개류의 엽산 및 비타민 B12 데이터는 국가식품영양성분 데이터베이스 구축을 위한 기초자료로의 활용이 가능할 것으로 생각된다. A total of 33 Korean key soups (n=21) and stews (n=12) were prepared according to the standard Korean recipes, and these were analyzed for folate and vitamin B12 by using tri-enzyme extraction-Lactobacillus casei assay and immunoaffinity-HPLC, respectively. The applied analytical methods were verified, and analytical quality control was performed to assure reliability of the analyzed data. The folate content of the 33 soups and stews ranged from 0.04 to 36.64 μg/100 g. The folate content was the highest in Doenjang-guk (naeng-i) (23.38 μg/100 g) and Ojingeo-jjigae (36.64 μg/100 g) among the soups and stews, respectively. Vitamin B12 content was high in Gul-guk (7.04 μg/100g) and Doenjang-jjigae (jogae) (4.42 μg/100 g), which were prepared from seafood sources such as oysters and clams. Otherwise, any vitamin B12 content was not detected in soup and stew samples containing mainly vegetable ingredients. The applied analytical methods for folate and vitamin B12 showed good accuracy (96.8∼99.8% recoveries) and precision (<5% relative standard deviations), which met the requirements of the official method validation guidelines. The limits of quantitation of the folate and vitamin B12 assays were 0.307 μg/100 g and 0.017 μg/100 g, respectively. This study provides reliable folate and vitamin B12 contents in frequently consumed Korean soups and stews, which could be used for an update of national food nutrient database and planning a balanced diet focusing on water-soluble vitamins.

        알긴산 나트륨을 이용한 유산균 캡슐화의 상업화 공정 개발

        We aimed to develop commercialization process of encapsulation which is superior in productivity compared to existing methods by using sodium alginate. Also, in the same process, sodium alginate with chitosan was used to encapsulate lactic acid bacteria with the same process and then the viable cell counts of the two encapsulated lactic acid bacteria were compared. As a test result of the fluidized drying process developed by the present researchers, it was found that the drying time was shortened by 15 to 20 hours compared to the freeze drying method, but the number of viable lactic acid bacteria was about 75% as compared with freeze drying. However, considering the cost and time of drying, it can be confirmed that the commercialization process is possible by the fluidized bed drying method. When the number of viable cells of Ca-alginate capsule and Chitosan-alginate capsule were compared, it was confirmed that there were about 1×10<sup>9</sup> or more bacteria in the former and about 1×10<sup>3</sup> in the latter. The lactic acid bacterium capsules prepared by the present technique were stable for 96 hours or more at pH 4.65 and 6.01, but disappeared within 1 hour at pH 7.07 and 8.35. This suggests that the disintegration of lactic acid bacteria can be easily occurred in small and large intestine.

        Synthetic phenolic antioxidant propyl gallate induces male infertility through disruption of calcium homeostasis and mitochondrial function

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Propyl gallate (propyl 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoate, PG) is a phenolic antioxidant that has been used for oil-containing foods to prevent acidification. Owing to its antioxidant properties, PG has been applied to various fields and active research is currently underway to prove PG as an anticancer agent. However, there are still concerns about PG as a possible reproductive toxicant. Therefore, we determined whether PG induced male infertility. Our results indicated that PG induced testicular dysfunction in both Leydig and Sertoli cells via suppression of cell viability and steroidogenesis. These normal testis functions were destroyed by PG-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and calcium homeostasis dysregulation. In addition, PG disrupted the expression of several genes associated with the testis function and induced endoplasmic reticulum stress. Furthermore, we verified PG-induced mRNA expression changes in steroidogenesis enzymes and hormone receptors <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I>. From the results of the qPCR analysis, we further confirmed the PG-mediated reduction in the mRNA expression of genes related to testis functions by <I>in situ</I> hybridization. Finally, we demonstrated that PG induced testicular toxicity via the disruption of mitochondrial or ER function and the inhibition of testicular development-related genes in mice.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Propyl gallate induces cell cycle arrest of mouse testicular cells via cyclin suppression. </LI> <LI> Propyl gallate dysregulates steroidogenesis necessary for testicular cells. </LI> <LI> Propyl gallate inhibits the normal growth and survival of testicular cells. </LI> <LI> Propyl gallate may lead to the failure of spermatogenesis and male infertility. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>Schematic hypothesis of the model of propyl gallate (PG)-induced testicular toxicity.         Reliability of Skeletal Muscle Area Measurement on CT with Different Parameters: A Phantom Study

        Objective: To evaluate the reliability of CT measurements of muscle quantity and quality using variable CT parameters. Materials and Methods: A phantom, simulating the L2–4 vertebral levels, was used for this study. CT images were repeatedly acquired with modulation of tube voltage, tube current, slice thickness, and the image reconstruction algorithm. Reference standard muscle compartments were obtained from the reference maps of the phantom. Cross-sectional area based on the Hounsfield unit (HU) thresholds of muscle and its components, and the mean density of the reference standard muscle compartment, were used to measure the muscle quantity and quality using different CT protocols. Signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) were calculated in the images acquired with different settings. Results: The skeletal muscle area (threshold, -29 to 150 HU) was constant, regardless of the protocol, occupying at least 91.7% of the reference standard muscle compartment. Conversely, normal attenuation muscle area (30–150 HU) was not constant in the different protocols, varying between 59.7% and 81.7% of the reference standard muscle compartment. The mean density was lower than the target density stated by the manufacturer (45 HU) in all cases (range, 39.0–44.9 HU). The SNR decreased with low tube voltage, low tube current, and in sections with thin slices, whereas it increased when the iterative reconstruction algorithm was used. Conclusion: Measurement of muscle quantity using HU threshold was reliable, regardless of the CT protocol used. Conversely, the measurement of muscle quality using the mean density and narrow HU thresholds were inconsistent and inaccurate across different CT protocols. Therefore, further studies are warranted in future to determine the optimal CT protocols for reliable measurements of muscle quality.
