윤상훈(Yoon, Sanghoon),박재영(Park, Jaeyoung) 인천연구원 2015 도시연구 Vol.- No.9
The main purpose of this research is to examine planning factors which can be influential to the satisfaction of visitors with a case study of Kyungin Arabetgil Dumulmeori waterfront eco-park. Waterfront ecological park is a new type of park where waterfront area and ecopark are combined. There are many planning factors that would cause multicollinearity. So the research method was selected PLS regression analysis instead of typical multiple regression analysis. According to the result, the most influential factor in the satisfaction of the service users of the waterfront eco-park is community spaces which visitors are able to communicate each other (VIP rate: 1.242). Other important influential variables are as follows: easy to access (1.138), natural integrity condition as an ecological wetland (1.108), various waterfronts (1.051), guide facilities and information boards (1.036), good inhabiting environment for animals and plantsㆍecosystem protection (1.025) regeneration and restoration of the damaged ecosystem (1.016), accessibility between ecological spaces (1.007). Therefore, it is essential to apply ecological planning factors for improving satisfaction of visitors. It is also important to create some spaces to raising community awareness and park users interaction. Moreover those results suggest that it has to provide well presented basic facilities with easy accessibility and good guide information.

Objective: To evaluate the cerebroplacental ratio (CPR) to predict adverse perinatal outcomes in small-for-gestational-age (SGA) pregnancies. Methods: The study was a retrospective study of cases of pregnant women with SGA babies delivered between 32 and 41 weeks’ gestation, in Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital between January 2009 and December 2015. We analyzed the neonatal adverse outcomes and the risk of emergency cesarean section due to non-reassuring fetal heart rate in pregnancies with norrnal CPR and abnormal CPR in Doppler ultrasonography. Results: The abnormal CPR in SGA pregnancies was significantly associated with neonatal intensive care unit admission (P=0.042) and neonatal seizure (P=0.042), in multivariate logistic regression analysis. In receiver operating characteristic curves, the area under the curve (AUC) of abnormal CPR and severe SGA (less than 5th percentile) was 0.59, with sensitivity of 28.4% and specificity of 90.6% (P=0.038), in the emergency cesarean section due to non-reassuring fetal heart rate. However, between 32-36 weeks’ gestation, AUC of abnormal CPR was 0.7 with sensitivity of 70.6% and specificity of 69.2% (P=0.019) and AUC of abnormal CPR and severe SGA was 0.77, with sensitivity of 64.7% and specificity of 84.6% (P=0.001), in the emergency cesarean section due to non-reassuring fetal heart rate. Conclusion: When SGA is expected after 32 weeks’ gestation, measurement of CPR might be useful in predicting neonatal adverse outcome. Abnormal CPR was highly predictive of cesarean section due to non-reassuring fetal heart rate, in severe SGA, between 32-36 weeks’ gestation.

It is impossible to know the amount of pork primal cut by pig carcass grade which is determined only by carcass weight and backfat thickness in the Korean Pig Carcass System. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between the pig carcass grade and the amount of pork primal cut estimated with AutoFom III. A total of 419,321 Landrace, Yorkshire, and Duroc (LYD) pigs were graded with the Korean Pig Carcass Grade System. Amounts of belly, neck, loin, tenderloin, spare ribs, shoulder, and ham were estimated with AutoFom III. Regression equations for seven primal cuts according to each grade were derived. There were significant differences among the three carcass grades due to heteroscedasticity variance (p < 0.0001). Three regression equations were derived from AutoFom III estimation of primal cuts according to carcass grades. The coefficient of determination of the regression equation was 0.941 for grade 1+, 0.982 for grade 1, and 0.993 for grade 2. Regression equations obtained from this study are suitable for AutoFom III software, a useful tool for the analysis of each pig carcass grade in the Korean Pig Carcass Grade System. The high reliability of predicting the amount of primal cut with AutoFom III is advantageous for the management of slaughterhouses to optimize their product sorting in Korea.

The treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been revolutionized for the last 10 years by the increasing use of immunomodulators and biologics. With immunosuppression of this kind, opportunistic infection is an important safety concern for patients with IBD. In particular, viral hepatitis is determined by the interaction between the virus and the host’s immunity, and the risk of reactivation increases if immunity is compromised by immunosuppression therapy. Parts of Asia, including Korea, still show intermediate endemicity for the hepatitis A virus and hepatitis B virus compared with the United States and Western Europe. Thus, members of IBD research group of the Korean Association for the Study of Intestinal Diseases have produced a guideline on the prevention and management of viral hepatitis in IBD. Structural basis of the specific interaction of SMRT corepressor with histone deacetylase 4
Park, Suk-Youl,Kim, Gwang Sik,Hwang, Hyo-Jeong,Nam, Taek-Hyun,Park, Hee-Sae,Song, Jaeyoung,Jang, Tae-Ho,Lee, Young Chul,Kim, Jeong-Sun Oxford University Press 2018 Nucleic acids research Vol.46 No.22

Abstract

Modification of chromatin and related transcription factors by histone deacetylases (HDACs) is one of the major strategies for controlling gene expression in eukaryotes. The HDAC domains of class IIa HDACs repress the respective target genes by interacting with the C-terminal region of the silencing mediator for retinoid and thyroid receptor (SMRT) repression domain 3 (SRD3c). However, latent catalytic activity suggests that their roles as deacetylases in gene regulation are unclear. Here, we found that two conserved GSI-containing motifs of SRD3c are critical for HDAC4 binding. Two SMRT peptides including these motifs commonly form a β-hairpin structure in the cleft and block the catalytic entry site of HDAC4. They interact mainly with class IIa HDAC-specific residues of HDAC4 in a closed conformation. Structure-guided mutagenesis confirmed critical interactions between the SMRT peptides and HDAC4 and –5 as well as the contribution of the Arg1369 residue in the first motif for optimal binding to the two HDACs. These results indicate that SMRT binding does not activate the cryptic deacetylase activity of HDAC4 and explain how class IIa HDACs and the SMRT-HDAC3 complex are coordinated during gene regulation.

Immediate Effect of Foot Drop Stimulator in Outpatients with Chronic Stroke: A Mixed Method Study
Jaeyoung Park,Dooho Lee,Donghwan Oh 국제물리치료연구학회 2020 Journal of International Academy of Physical Ther Vol.11 No.1
Background: The foot drop stimulator is designed to improve the walking ability of foot drop in patients after stroke, however, studies on clinical effects are still lacking. Objective: To investigate the effect of a foot drop stimulator on the walking and balancing abilities of foot drop patients after a stroke. Design: One-Group (Pretest-Posttest) Design. Methods: All subjects walked in all three conditions: foot drop stimulator (FDS) ankle foot orthosis (AFO) and barefoot. Primary outcome measures were assessed for walking and balance using a 10-m walking test (10MWT) and a timed up and go test (TUG). Secondary outcome measures consisted of a brief user interview, and the patients recorded the advantages and disadvantages of each condition. Results: FDS, AFO, and barefoot conditions showed a statistically significant difference in 10MWT and TUG (P<.001) as a result of comparing three conditions. FDS and AFO were significantly different from the barefoot condition as post-hoc results; however, there was no significant difference between the two conditions (P>.05). Conclusion: In this study, the foot drop stimulator contributed to improving the balance ability, and the walking ability was similar to the effect of the anklefoot orthosis.

Genomes of more than 60 fungal species have been sequenced to date, yet there has been no systematic approach to analyze fungal transcription factors (TFs) kingdom widely. We developed a standardized pipeline for annotating TFs in fungal genomes. Resulting data have been archived in a new database termed the Fungal Transcription Factor Database (FTFD). In FTFD, 31,832 putative fungal TFs, identified from 62 fungal and 3 Oomycete species, were classified into 61 families and phylogenetically analyzed. The FTFD will serve as a community resource supporting comparative analyses of the distribution and domain structure of TFs within and across species.

A Study on an Automatic Multi-Focus System for Cell Observation
Park, Jaeyoung,Lee, Sangjoon Korea Information Processing Society 2019 Journal of information processing systems Vol.15 No.1
This study is concerned with the mechanism and structure of an optical microscope and an automatic multi-focus algorithm for automatically selecting sharp images from multiple foci of a cell. To obtain precise cell images quickly, a z-axis actuator with a resolution of $0.1{\mu}m$ was designed to control an optical microscope Moreover, a lighting control system was constructed to select the color and brightness of light that best suit the object being viewed. Cell images are captured by the instrument and the sharpness of each image is determined using Gaussian and Laplacian filters. Next, cubic spline interpolation and peak detection algorithms are applied to automatically find the most vivid points among multiple images of a single object. A cancer cell imaging experiment using propidium iodide staining confirmed that a sharp multipoint image can be obtained using this microscope. The proposed system is expected to save time and effort required to extract suitable cell images and increase the convenience of cell analysis.
