Gap junctions mediate direct communication between cells; however, toxicological cascade triggered by nonessential metals can abrogate cellular signaling mediated by gap junctions. Although cadmium (Cd) is known to induce apoptosis in organs and tissues, the mechanisms that underlie gap junction activity in Cd-induced apoptosis in BRL 3A rat liver cells has yet to be established. In the present study, we showed that Cd treatment decreased the cell index (a measure of cellular electrical impedance) in BRL 3A cells. Mechanistically, we found that Cd exposure decreased expression of connexin 43 (Cx43), increased expression of p-Cx43 and elevated intracellular free Ca2+ concentration, corresponding to a decrease in gap junctional intercellular communication. Gap junction blockage pretreatment with 18b-glycyrrhizic acid (GA) promoted Cd-induced apoptosis, involving changes in expression of Bax, Bcl-2, caspase-3 and the mitochondrial transmembrane electrical potential (Δym). Additionally, GA was found to enhance ERK and p38 activation during Cd-induced activation of mitogen-activated protein kinases, but had no significant effect on JNK activation. Our results indicated the apoptosis-related proteins and the ERK and p38 signaling pathways may participate in gap junction blockage promoting Cd-induced apoptosis in BRL 3A cells.

Nanofiller reinforcement is an effective approach to realize high performance of regular synthetic fibers. In thispaper, graphene oxide nanoribbons (GONRs) with complete morphology were prepared via unzipping single-walled carbonnanotubes (SWCNTs) through long-time freeze-drying after oxidation. GONRs derived from SWCNTs (SGONRs) did notneed any modification and could be directly added to poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) to form uniform dispersions and thencontinuous fibers were fabricated using wet spinning and hot-drawing. SGONRs provided abundant hydrogen bondinginteraction with PVA chains, so SGONRs could not only obviously improve the dispersibility in PVA, but also enhance themechanical properties of the composites. The tensile strength of PVA/SGONRs composite fibers with 0.4 wt% loading ofSGONRs reach 1032 MPa, improved by 121 % compared with PVA/SWCNTs fiber, and by 200 % with PVA fiber,respectively.

This study investigates the impact of executive compensation incentive on earnings management in Chinese listed companies. From the perspectives of the principal-agent, asymmetric information, and incentive theories, this study examines Chinese A-share, main board-listed companies from 2015 to 2019 for the impact of executive compensation incentive on corporate earnings management, using a multiple linear regression method. The results show that executive monetary compensation has a negative effect on the level of accrual-based earnings management and real earnings management, indicating that executive monetary compensation has an incentive effect and reduces earnings management behavior. However, the executive shareholding ratio has a positive impact on accrual-based earnings management but no significant impact on real earnings management, indicating that equity incentives only affect accrual-based earnings management. The study’s findings enrich the related theories of executive compensation and earnings management and provide useful insights for investors and policymakers of listed companies.
EU의 한국산 제품에 대한 반덤핑 조치에 영향을 미치는 거시경제요인 분석

본 연구에서는 EU 집행위원회가 취한 반덤핑 규제와 특징을 분석하고, EU의 대 한국산 제품에 대한 반덤핑 규제에 영향을 미치는 EU의 GDP 성장률, 실업률, 무역수지, EU·한국간 무역수지, 수입침투도 등과의 관계를 실증 분석함으로써 EU의 반덤핑 조치결정과 EU의 거시 경제변수들 간의 관계를 확인하고자 하였다. 2004년∼2012년까지 분기자료를 기반으로 실증분석 결과 EU의 거시경제 변수 중에서 GDP 증가율, 무역수지, EU·한국 무역수지 부분은 EU 반덤핑 영향에 유의한 결과를 가져오며, 다만 EU 실업율, 수입침투도 부분에서는 EU 반덤핑 규제 영향력에 대한 유의성이 없음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 한국기업이나 정부는 EU의 반덤핑 규제에 대한 피소가능성이 높은 EU 경제상황을 예의 주시하면서 적절한 대응책을 마련해야 할 것이다. The transaction size between South Korea and the European Union (EU) had increased by more than two times among 2003 to 2008. With rapid growth of transaction, the EU was becoming important transaction object of South Korea gradually. EU has used the Antidumping policy as a trade protection tool against Korean products due to reduce the deficit of trade balance of payment, boost the economic growth and protect its weak industries. This paper investigates whether there is a connection between the EU s macroeconomic activity and pressures for protection to Korean products under antidumping measures with using the current data that come from the WTO, World Bank for 2004 to 2012. The result suggests that pressures for protection under Antidumping measure against exporting of Korean products to EU have increased during periods of macroeconomic weakness of low GDP growth, larger deficit of trade balance, however, has not significantly affected during periods of high unemployment.

We consider closed, star-shaped, admissible hypersurfaces in ℝ<sup>n+1</sup> expanding along the flow Ẋ = |X|<sup>α-1</sup> F<sup>-β</sup>, α ≤ 1, β > 0, and prove that for the case α ≤ 1, β > 0, α + β ≤ 2, this evolution exists for all the time and the evolving hypersurfaces converge smoothly to a round sphere after rescaling. Besides, for the case α ≤ 1, α + β > 2, if furthermore the initial closed hypersurface is strictly convex, then the strict convexity is preserved during the evolution process and the flow blows up at finite time.

Background: Our aim was to conduct a meta-analysis to compare the efficacy and safety of pemetrexed and docetaxel for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods: We systematically searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, China Biology Medicine Database for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the efficacy and toxicities of pemetrexed versus docetaxel as a treatment for advanced NSCLC. We limited the languages to English and Chinese. Two reviewers independently screened articles to identify eligible trials according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and assessed the methodological quality of included trials, and then extracted data. The meta-analysis was performed using STATA12.0. Results: Six RCTs involving 1,414 patients were identified. We found that there was no statistically significant differences in overall response rate, survival time, progression-free survival, disease control rate, and 1-2yr survival rate (p>0.050) but it is worthy of mention that patients in the pemetrexed arms had significantly higher 3-yr survival rate (P=0.002). With regard to the grade 3 or 4 hematological toxicity, compared with docetaxel, pemetrexed led to lower rate of grade 3-4 febrile neutropenia, neutropenia, and leukocyts toxicity (p<0.001). There was no significant difference in anemia between the two arms (p=0.08). In addition, pemetrexed led to higher rate of grade 3-4 thrombocytopenia toxicity (p=0.03). As for the non-hematological toxicities, compared with docetaxel, pemetrexed group had lower rate of grade 3-4 diarrhea and alopecia. Conclusions: Pemetrexed was almost as effective as docetaxel in patients with advanced NSCLC. At the same time, pemetrexed might increase the 3-yr survival rate. As for safety, pemetrexed led to lower rate of grade 3-4 febrile neutropenia, neutropenia, leukocytes, diarrhea and alopecia toxicity. However, it was associated with a higher rate of grade 3-4 thrombocytopenia.

Based on the analysis of knowledge structure and factors that influence the professional competence of IMIS undergraduates, this paper selects 7 courses as evaluation indexes. Firstly, it gets 3 indexes of database theory, data oriented programming (C#), Management Information Systems as evidences through the method of information entropy reduction. Secondly, it improves the BPA of subjective experience by using rough set theory and gets an objective BPA. Finally, it uses D-S evidence theory to synthesize the evidence and evaluates the professional competence of IMIS undergraduates.

Escherichia coli heat-labile enterotoxin (LT) and its non-toxic mutant (LTm) are well-known powerful mucosal adjuvants and immunogens. However, the yields of these adjuvants from genetically engineered strains remain at extremely low levels, thereby hindering their extensive application in fundamental and clinical research. Therefore, efficient production of these adjuvant proteins from genetically engineered microbes is a huge challenge in the field of molecular biology. In order to explore the expression bottlenecks of LTm in E. coli, we constructed a series of recombinant plasmids based on various considerations and gene expression strategies. After comparing the protein expression among strains containing different recombinant plasmids, the signal sequence was found to be critical for the expression of LTm and its subunits. When the signal sequence was present, the strong hydrophobicity and instability of this amino acid sequence greatly restricted the generation of subunits. However, when the signal sequence was removed, abundantly expressed subunits formed inactive inclusion bodies that could not be assembled into the hexameric native form, although the inclusion body subunits could be refolded and the biological activity recovered in vitro. Therefore, the dilemma choice of signal sequence formed bottlenecks in the expression of LTm. These results reveal the expression bottlenecks of LTm, provide guidance for the preparation of LTm and its subunits, and certainly help to promote efficient preparation of this mucosal adjuvant protein.
