      • Service Quality Improvement of Smart Phone Application

        Smart phones have drastically changed the life of today’s competitive world. Smart phone application (App) developers are trying their best to meet the customer requirements in the most efficient way while considering all its attributes. However smart phone service quality has been given less consideration comparatively during the last few years. This paper proposes a measurement method for improving service quality of smart phone application. This method combines the service quality performance model and process capability index. The service quality performance model is used to identify service items that require improvement. Process capability index is used to prioritize these items for improvement. We collected data on satisfaction level of customers who have used application service. By the proposed method, we found five significant service items from three categories - execution, security and resilience and prioritized those items for improvement.

        Smart phones have brought rapid changes in this competitive world. Smart phone application developers are trying their best to consider the customer requirements in the most efficient way while considering all its attributes. However smart phone service quality has been given less consideration comparatively during the last few years. This paper proposes a measurement method for improving service quality of smart phone application. This method combines the service quality performance model (SQPM) and process capability index (PCI). The service quality performance model is used to identify service items that require improvement. Process capability index is used as a measure for prioritization of those improvements. Case study was carried out to search out important communication application service attributes. customer satisfaction level data was collected for users who used the application service. A total of twenty four service attributes were found during this survey. Using the joint approach of SQPM and PCI, five significant service attributes were prioritized for service quality improvement.

        폴리페놀 함량과 항산화력에 따른 피땅콩 겉껍질의 최적 추출 조건 확립과 항비만 기능성 평가

        본 연구에서는 초음파를 이용하여 농업 부산물인 피땅콩 겉껍질의 추출 조건을 최적화하고 추출물의 항산화능과 항비만 기능성을 측정하였다. 실험설계는 CCD를 이용하였고 독립 변수인 추출 시간, 추출 온도, 에탄올 농도에 따라 TPC, TFC와 RSA를 종속 변수로 설정하여 이들의 값을 최대로 하는 공통 조건을 예측하였다. 각각의 모델식의 R²값은 0.85 이상으로 적합하였으며, 추출 조건으로 추출 온도와 에탄올 농도가 TPC 및 TFC에 유의적인 영향을 주는 것을 알 수 있었다. 반면 RSA는 에탄올 농도에 영향을 많이 받는데, 에탄올 농도가 높을수록 RSA가 높아지다가 최고점을 보인 후 다시 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 최적 추출 조건인 추출 시간 35.8분, 추출 온도 82.7°C와 에탄올 96.0%에서 제조한 추출물의 TPC, TFC와 RSA의 실측치는 예측치와 유사한 값을 나타내어 회귀 방정식이 신뢰할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 추출물의 항비만 기능성 평가를 위한 GIA와 LIA 실험 결과는 각각 86.4%와 78.5%로 열수 추출물보다 높게 나타나 초음파 추출에 의한 생리활성 물질 추출이 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 이로써 농업 부산물인 피땅콩 겉껍질로부터 고부가가치 생리활성 물질 생산 가능성을 확인하였고 식품, 화장품 및 의약품용 항산화와 항비만 기능성 소재 생산에 있어 원료 공급비용 절감과 효율적인 추출 공정 확보로 산업 전반에서 가격 경쟁력 확보와 환경문제 해결에 기여할 것으로 사료된다. Purpose: The extraction conditions for bioactive components from peanut shells, which is a byproduct of peanut processing, were optimized to enhance the total phenolic content (TPC, Y₁), total flavonoid content (TFC, Y₂), and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity (RSA, Y₃). In addition, this study evaluated the anti-obesity effect of peanut shell extract. Methods: Optimization of ultrasonic‐assisted extraction (UAE) was performed using a response surface methodology. The independent variables applied for extraction were time (X₁: 5.0–55.0), temperature (X₂: 26.0–94.0), and ethanol concentration (X₃: 0.0%–99.5%). Quadratic regression models were derived based on the results of 17 experimental sets, and an analysis of the variance was performed to verify its accuracy and precision of the regression equations. Results: When evaluating the effects of independent variables on responses using statistically-based optimization, the independent variable with the most significant effect on the TPC, TFC, and RSA was the ethanol concentration (p = 0.0008). The optimal extraction conditions to satisfy all three responses were 35.8 minutes, 82.7°C, and 96.0% ethanol. Under these conditions, the inhibitory activities of α-glucosidase and pancreatic lipase by the extract were 86.4% and 78.5%, respectively. Conclusion: In this study, UAE showed superior extraction efficiency compared to conventional hot-water extraction in the extraction of polyphenols and bioactive materials. In addition, α-glucosidase and pancreatic lipase inhibitory effects were identified, suggesting that peanut shells can be used as effective antioxidants and anti-obesity agents in functional foods and medicines.

        Are Serum Vitamin D Levels Associated With Dry Eye Disease? Results From the Study Group for Environmental Eye Disease

        Objectives: Dry eye disease (DED) is an increasingly important public health problem in Korea. Previous studies conducted in Korea have reported inconsistent results regarding the protective effects of vitamin D on DED, and these discrepancies may be related to the relatively simple questionnaire that has been used. Thus, we evaluated the association of serum vitamin D levels with DED using the ocular surface disease index (OSDI). Methods: The present study evaluated data from participants in the Study Group for Environmental Eye Disease (2014-2015). This group included data from 752 participants, and data from 740 participants (253 men and 487 women) were analyzed in the present study. DED severity was evaluated using the OSDI. Results: Higher serum vitamin D levels were associated with a non-significantly reduced risk of DED in the crude analysis (odds ratio [OR], 0.991; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.971 to 1.011) and in the adjusted analysis (OR, 0.988; 95% CI, 0.966 to 1.010). In the crude analysis of no/mild DED vs. moderate/severe DED, men exhibited a decreased risk with increasing serum vitamin D levels (OR, 0.999; 95% CI, 0.950 to 1.051), while women exhibited an increased risk (OR, 1.003; 95% CI, 0.979 to 1.027). In these analyses, we found no significant associations. Conclusions: The findings of the present study support previous reports that serum vitamin D levels are not associated with DED.

        Sound Absorption Property of the Leaves of Two Evergreen Broad-Leaved Tree Species, Dendropanax morbiferus and Fatsia japonica

        In this study, the effect of specimen size and layer thickness on the sound absorption of the leaves of two evergreen broad-leaved tree species, Dendropanax morbiferus and Fatsia japonica, was investigated. The specimen sizes of 0.5 × 0.5, 1.0 × 1.0, and 2.0 × 2.0 cm<sup>2</sup> and layer thicknesses of 1.00, 1.75, and 2.50 cm were considered. At the layer thickness of 2.5 cm, the leaf of the D. morbiferus showed no significant difference in sound absorption coefficients (SACs) as the sample size varied, however, a significant change in SACs was recorded in that of the F. japonica. At 1.0-cm thickness, the SACs of the F. japonica leaf varied more remarkably with the sample size. The 2.50-cm-thick F. japonica leaf with the specimen size 0.5 × 0.5 cm<sup>2</sup> exhibited the highest sound absorption effect among all samples investigated.

        건강한 어린 소아에서 수두 백신 접종 후 발생한 대상포진 2예: 백신주에 의한 1예

        Herpes zoster (HZ) has been reported in immunocompetent children who received the varicella vaccine. In vaccinated children, HZ can be caused by vaccine-strain or by wild-type varicella-zoster virus (VZV). Like wild-type VZV, varicella vaccine virus can establish latency and reactivate as HZ. We report two cases of HZ in otherwise healthy 16- and 14-month-old boys who received varicella vaccine at 12 months of age. They presented with a vesicular rash on their upper extremities three to four months after varicella vaccination. In one case, a swab was obtained by abrading skin vesicles and VZV was detected in skin specimens by polymerase chain reaction. The VZV open-reading frame 62 was sequenced and single nucleotide polymorphism analysis confirmed that the virus from skin specimen was vaccine-strain. This is the first HZ case following varicella vaccination confirmed to be caused by vaccine-strain VZV in the immunocompetent children in Korea. Pediatricians should be aware of the potential for varicella vaccine virus reactivation in vaccinated young children.

        수세미오이 발효추출물의 항산화 및 피부암 억제 효과

        본 연구의 목적은 수세미오이 추출물을 유산균을 이용한 발효를 통해 항산화 활성과 함께 생체 활성 물질의 생산을 중대하고 자외선 흡수 및 피부 흑색종 세포 성장 억제를 강화하여 피부암 예방 효과를 향상시키는 데 있다. 수세미오이 발효추출물의 총 폴리페놀(TPC)과 항산화 활성도가 30.23 mg GA/g DM와 45.12%로 열수추출물보다 약 1.4배 높은 수준으로 확인되었다. 자외선 흡수율에 있어 발효추출물은 열수추출물보다 1.5배 높은 53.9%의 흡수율을 보였는데 발효를 통해 증가된 TPC에 의해 UV 흡수가 증가했다는 결론을 도출하였다. 항암효과에 있어 발효추출물과 열수추출물에서 각각 1.0 와 2.0 mg/mL에서 피부 흑색종세포에 대한 성장저해 효과가 나타나 추출물 발효에 따른 항암효과가 증가했음을 알 수 있었다. 발효추출물의 자외선 흡수율에 있어 열수출물보다 2.4배 높아 피부암 예방효과가 예상되며, 수세미오이 발효를 통해 항산화, 자외선차단과 피부암 저해 효과를 가지는 화장품, 식품 및 의약품 소재 개발 가능할 것으로 사료된다. This study aimed to improve the production of bioactive materials with antioxidant activity using a fermented Luffa aegyripia extract and improve the anticancer effect by enhancing UV absorption and inhibiting melanoma cell growth. The total phenolic content (TPC) and antioxidant activity of the fermented extract were 30.23 mg GAE/g DM and 45.12%, respectively, which was 1.4 times higher than that of the hot-water extract (HWE). The fermented extract showed a UV adsorption rate of 53.9%, which was 1.5 times higher than HWE, and it was concluded that UV absorption was increased by TPC, which was increased through the fermentation of L. aegyptiaca extracts using Lactobacillus . In the anticancer effect test, fermented and HWE extracts had carcinogenic effects of 1.0 and 2.0 mg/mL, respectively. This suggests that the increased antioxidant activity due to the increase in TPC caused by fermentation contributed to the anticancer effect. The UV absorption rate of fermented extracts was 2.4 times higher than HWE, giving them potential use as cosmetics and pharmaceutical materials with high polyphenol contents and antioxidant properties and skin cancer prevention.
