A label-free amperometric immunosensor has been proposed for the detection of myeloperoxidase (MPO) in human serum. To fabricate such an immunosensor, a composite film consisting of N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and 1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium tetrafluoroborate ($EMIMBF_4$) suspension was initially formed on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Then cerium dioxide ($CeO_2$) dispersed by chitosan was coated on the GCE. After that, MPO antibodies (anti-MPO) were attached onto the nano$CeO_2$ surface. With a noncompetitive immunoassay format, the antibody-antigen complex formed between the immobilized anti-MPO and MPO in sample solution. The immunosensor was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The factors influencing the performance of the immunosensor were studied in detail. Under optimal conditions, the current change before and after the immunoreaction was proportional to MPO concentration in the range of 5 to $300\;ng\;mL^{-1}$ with a detection limit of $0.2\;ng\;mL^{-1}$.

The etch stop process of SrBi2Ta2O9 (SBT) over CeO2 in Inductively Coupled Plasma Reactive Ion Etching (ICP-RIE) is reported in this paper. The etch stop of ferroelectric thin lm on a silicon surface without damage is important for the self-aligned gate structure process in the fabrication of the single-transistor-type ferroelectric random access memory. A high vertical etching angle is also necessary for high integration. We investigated the etch rate of SBT and of Si and CeO2 which were used as a buer layer to improve the interface between SBT and silicon, with various Ar/Cl2 gas mixtures, ICP powers and RF bias powers in ICP-RIE. The highest etching selectivity of SBT/CeO2 and SBT/Si was 6.8 and 0.3 respectively. The vertical angle of SBT was 82 degrees. SEM images and XPS surface analyses showed good etch stop characteristics of the buer layer without damage to the silicon surface.

HZSM-5 (HZ) zeolite co-modified with Zn and second promoters (Zr, Ce, Mo and Cr) was synthesized and the aromatization of methanol over the modified HZ in a fixed-bed reactor was investigated. The results of catalytic tests revealed that the methanol conversion and yield of benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX) over the Cr, Zn comodification HZ (CrZn/HZ) were higher than that over ZrZn/HZ, CeZn/HZ, and MoZn/HZ. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, N2 isothermal adsorption-desorption and NH3-TPD. The results suggest that Zn species exist in two forms in the HZ zeolite. One is ZnO particle, the other one is ZnOH+, which significantly improveds the yield of BTX. Furthermore, the Cr species on the external surface promoted the dispersion of ZnO, increased the amount of ZnOH+, which further improved the yield of BTX. In addition, the optimal Cr2Zn1/HZ catalyst exhibited better catalytic performance and prolonged lifetime of reaction.

To evaluate the value of enhancement features and quantitative parameters of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in differentiating solid hypoechoic renal angiomyolipomas (AMLs) from clear cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCCs). We analyzed the enhancement features and quantitative parameters of CEUS in 174 hypoechoic renal masses (32 AMLs and 142 ccRCCs) included in the study. Centripetal enhancement pattern was more common in AMLs than in ccRCCs on CEUS (71.9% vs. 23.2%, p < 0.001). At peak enhancement, all AMLs showed homogeneous enhancement (100% in AML, 27.5% in ccRCCs; p < 0.001). Quantitative analysis showed no significant difference between rise time and time to peak. Tumor-to-cortex (TOC) enhancement ratio in AMLs was significantly lower than that in ccRCCs (p < 0.001). The criteria of centripetal enhancement and homogeneous peak enhancement together with TOC ratio < 91.0% used to differentiate hypoechoic AMLs from ccRCCs resulted in a sensitivity and specificity of 68.9% and 95.8%, respectively. Both qualitative and quantitative analysis with CEUS are valuable in the differential diagnosis of hypoechoic renal AMLs from ccRCCs.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of noncoding RNA molecules that function as negative regulators of gene expression and play important roles in a wide spectrum of biological processes, including in immune response. However, the physiological regulation function of Pinctada fucata miRNAs, specially their immunomodulation has not been explored yet. Here, two small RNA libraries from hemocytes of P. fucata with or without Vibrio alginolyticus infection were constructed and sequenced using the high-throughput Illumina deep sequencing technology. In total, 11,939,992 and 11,083,327 raw reads, corresponding to 10,993,546 and 9,988,179 clean reads, were respectively obtained in the control and infected libraries. A total of 276 miRNAs, including 225 known miRNAs and 51 putative novel miRNAs, were identified by bioinformatic analysis. By using pairwise comparison between two libraries, 93 miRNAs were found to be significantly differentially expressed, with 42 and 51 miRNAs exhibiting up-regulation and down-regulation, respectively. Thereinto, some known miRNAs were considered to be immune-related. Real-time PCR were implemented for 6 miRNAs co-expressed in the control and infected samples, and agreement was confirmed between the high-throughput sequencing and real-time PCR data. After miRNA targets were predicted, GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis were performed, and the results indicated that ten of the differentially expressed miRNAs were involved in immunerelated pathways, and might participate in the host immune response to V. alginolyticus. These results of identification and comparative analysis of miRNAs might deepen our understanding of host-pathogen interactions and immune defense mechanisms in P. fucata.

The 70 kDa zeta-chain associated protein kinase (ZAP-70) plays a critical role in effective signal transductions that are fundamental to T cell differentiation, proliferation and effector functions. In this paper, the ZAP- 70 gene of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus (designated as On-ZAP-70) was cloned and its expression pattern under the stimulation of Streptococcus agalactiae was investigated. Sequence analysis showed important structural characteristics required for TCRs signal transduction were detected in the deduced amino acid sequence of On-ZAP- 70, and the deduced genomic structure of On-ZAP-70 was similar to the known ZAP-70. In healthy tilapia, the On- ZAP-70 transcripts were mainly detected in the thymus, spleen, head kidney and gill. Moreover, there was a clear time-dependent expression pattern of On-ZAP-70 after immunization and the expression reached the highest level at 48 h in the spleen and head kidney, and at 72 h in the thymus, respectively. This is the first report on the expression of ZAP-70 induced by intracellular bacteria vaccination in teleosts. These findings indicated that On- ZAP-70 may play an important role in the immune response to intracellular bacteria in Nile tilapia.

Li, Shu-Xia,Liu, Bei-Bei,Lu, Jian-Hua Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.7
Background: Dynamic changes of cancer-related fatigue (CRF) among hospitalized patients with colorectal cancer were determined. Materials and Methods: This longitudinal, descriptive study involved 96 hospitalized patients with colorectal cancer, all recruited from a tertiary general hospital in Guangzhou, China. Patients completed questionnaires three times to assess the degree of fatigue, and measurement points were within one week of admission, at 2 to 3 days after surgery and 3 weeks after surgery. Results: Significant differences among the three measurement points (p<0.01) were observed. The scores of fatigue in the second survey were the highest, followed by the third and first surveys. Colon cancer patient scores were higher than those of rectal cancer patients with a significant difference (p<0.05). Colorectal patients experienced different degrees of fatigue at different periods during hospitalization. Conclusions: This study highlights the importance of interventions that are carefully tailored to patients based on the characteristics at different periods to alleviate fatigue.

Nocardia salmonicida is one of the main pathogens of fish nocardiosis. The purpose of this study was to build a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) method for the rapid and sensitive detection of N. salmonicida. A set of four primers were designed from the 16S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer region of N. salmonicida, and conditions for LAMP were optimized as incubating all the reagents for 60 min at 64°C. LAMP products were judged with agar gel electrophoresis as well as with the naked eye after the addition of SYBR Green I. Results showed the sensitivity of the LAMP assay was 1.68 × 103 CFU/ml (16.8 CFU per reaction) and 10-fold higher than that of PCR. The LAMP method was also effectively applied to detect N. salmonicida in diseased fish samples, and it may potentially facilitate the surveillance and early diagnosis of fish nocardiosis.
