교사의 자기애적 성향이 대인관계문제에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감의 매개효과 = The Influence of Teacher's Narcissism Propensity on Interpersonal Relationship Problem: Mediating effect of self-esteem

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of self-esteem on the association between the teacher's narcissism propensity and their interpersonal relationship problem. For this study, questionnaires measuring overt narcissism, convert narcissism, interpersonal relationship problem and self-esteem were completed by 300 teachers of elementary, middle and high school in Busan. To verify the effects, the independent samples t-test was applied to see if the relationship among vert narcissism, convert narcissism, interpersonal relationship problem and self-esteem could differ depending og gender. Also, correlation analysis was applied to find out the correlation among these variables and hierarchical multiple regression analysis to verify the mediating effect of self-esteem on the association between narcissism propensity and interpersonal relationship problem. The finding of this study were as follows. First, there were significant correlations between teacher's narcissism propensity (overt narcissism, covert narcissism), interpersonal problems and self-esteem. Third, the relationship between teacher's overt narcissism propensity and interpersonal relationship problem was not mediated by self-esteem. Second, the relationship between teacher's covert narcissism propensity and interpersonal relationship problem was partially mediated by self-esteem. Consequently, the narcissism propensity perceived by teachers has influences on their interpersonal relationship problem and self-esteem. And self-esteem was shown to mediate only the path between covert narcissism propensity and interpersonal relationship problem. Therefore, these finding give deep and reasonable understandings on the associations among teacher's narcissism propensity(overt narcissism, covert narcissism), interpersonal relationship problem and self-esteem. Limitations to the current study and recommendations for future research are discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 교사의 자기애적 성향이 대인관계문제에 미치는 영향 중에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 부산광역시에 소재한 초, 중, 고 교사 300명을 대상으로 외현적 자기애 검사, 내현적 자기애 검사, 자아존중감 검사, 대인관계문제 검사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료들을 바탕으로 변인들 간의 성별에 따른 차이를 알아보기 위해 t검증을 실시하였다. 또한 주요 변인들 간의 관련성을 살펴보기 위해 상관관계 분석을 실시하고, 변인들 간의 영향력을 살펴보기 위해 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 밝혀진 주요결과는 첫째, 교사의 자기애적 성향 중 외현적 자기애와 대인관계문제와의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 살펴본 결과, 매개변인인 자아존중감이 통제되었을 경우 외현적 자기애의 효과 크기가 증가한 것으로 보아 자아존중감은 외현적 자기애가 대인관계문제에 미치는 영향을 매개하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교사의 자기애적 성향 중 내현적 자기애와 대인관계문제와의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 살펴본 결과, 매개변인인 자아존중감이 통제되었을 경우 내현적 자기애의 효과 크기가 감소한 것으로 보아 자아존중감은 내현적 자기애가 대인관계문제에 미치는 영향을 부분매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 후속연구에 대한 제언과 시사점을 논하였다.
