유아 성별에 따른 아버지의 놀이참여와 유아의 행동적 자기조절력의 관계

국문 초록 (Abstract)

공동양육자로서의 아버지 역할수행이 강조되며 특히 아버지의 놀이참여가 자녀의 발달에 갖는 중요 성에 대한 관심이 커지고 있다. 본 연구는 유아 성별에 따른 아버지의 놀이참여가 유아의 발달 및 학습 경험에 중요한 영향력을 가지는 행동적 자기조절력에 어떤 관계를 가지고 있는지 살펴보고자 하였다. D시에 위치한 유치원 및 어린이집 13곳에 재원 중인 만 4, 5세 유아 234명(남아 116명, 여아, 118명)과 그 아버지를 대상으로 하여, 아버지의 놀이참여는 자기보고식 측정도구를, 유아의 행동적 자기조절력 은 교사평정을 통하여 측정하였다. 연구결과, 첫째 아버지의 놀이참여와 유아의 행동적 자기조절력 전 체는 유아 성별에 따른 차이가 없었으나 하위요인별로는 유의한 차이가 있음이 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 남아와 여아 모두에게 아버지의 놀이참여와 유아의 행동적 자기조절력은 상당히 높은 정적 상관이 있었다. 셋 째, 남아는 아버지의 놀이참여 하위요인 중 게임, 신체놀이, 구성놀이 참여가 행동적 자기조절력의 55% 를, 여아는 아버지의 놀이참여 하위요인 중 교수놀이, 기능놀이, 역할놀이가 행동적 자기조절력의 53% 를 설명해 주었다. 이러한 결과는 유아의 행동적 자기조절력 향상을 위한 아버지의 놀이참여의 중요성 을 강조하며, 유아의 요구에 민감한 아버지 역할수행에 대한 추후 연구의 필요성을 제기한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As the co-parenting role of fathers has been increasingly emphasized, there is an urgent need to explore the importance of paternal involvement, particularly in play, on their child's development. This study aimed to examining the relationships between fathers’ play involvement and preschoolers' behavioral self-regulation, a critically important construct for children’s development and later learning experiences, influenced by child gender. The subjects were 234 4- to 5-year-olds (116 boys and 118 girls), enrolled in 13 different kindergartens and child care centers in D city, and their fathers. Paternal play involvement was measured through a self-report type measure, and behavioral self-regulation of preschoolers was measured by a teacher rating measure. The results showed that fathers’ overall play involvement and preschoolers' behavioral self-regulation were not different by child gender but significant differences were detected for sub-factors. Second, the correlations between fathers' play involvement and preschoolers' behavioral self-regulation were considerably high for both groups. Third, fathers’ involvement in games, physical play, and constructive play explained 55% of the boys’ behavioral self-regulation, while the involvement in instructive play, functional play, and pretend play explained 53% of the girls’ behavioral self-regulation. These results indicate the importance of paternal play involvement in enhancing children's behavioral self-regulation, and a need for further investigation on sensitive fathering attuned to child’s needs.
