다문화교육에 관한 유아교육기관 교사의 인식 및 실태

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 현재 부산지역 유아교육기관교사들의 다문화교육에 대한 인식과 실태의 차이를 교사의 배경변인(학력, 경력, 소속기관 유형)에 따라 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구의 대상은 부산 지역에 위치한 유치원과 어린이집 교사 342명이며 이들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과에 따르면 첫째, 유아교육기관 교사들의 다문화교육에 대한 인지정도는 낮은 반면, 다문화교육의 필요성은 매우 높게 인식하고 있었다. 다문화 교육에서 가장 어려운 문제점은 우리나라 상황에 맞는 다문화 교육자료 부족과 다문화 관련 교사 연수, 워크숍 부족 이었다. 둘째, 다문화교육의 실태에 있어 유아교육기관의 다문화교육에 관한 교육 경험은 부족하였으며 경력이 높을수록 다문화 교육 경험이 많았다. 유치원보다 어린이집 교사들이 다문화 가정 유아를 지도할 기회가 더 많았다. 경력이 높은 교사들이 다문화교육을 더 잘 실시하고 있었다. 다문화교육을 실시하지 않는 이유는 다문화가정 유아가 없기 때문에 할 필요가 없다는 비율이 높아 다문화교육이 다문화가정 유아에게 국한 되어 있음을 알 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to find out the perceptions and the actual conditions according to early childhood teachers' background (the educational level, the teaching experiences, and the type of organization) for multicultural education. The questions of this study were as follows: First, Is there any difference, in teachers' perceptions of multicultural education according to teachers' background factors. Second, Is there any difference, the actual conditions the multicultural education, by teachers' background factors? The objects of study was 341 teachers belong to the nationalㆍpublic and private child care centers and kindergartens in the Busan. The instrument of this study was the questionnaire that was developed by Jung, Sunhee(1997). This questionnaire was revised by Kim, Ahyoung(2oo4), Lee, Meesoo(2007), and Jun, Duksoo(2007). Researcher of this study adopted revised version with some reversion. The analysis method of this study was Chi-squares to test differences for teachers' perceptions and actual conditions for multicultural education. The results of this study as follows: First, the perceptions of the multicultural education by the teachers, for the necessity of the multicultural education, 97.1% had answered positively. The most difficult things in the multicultural education were "the lack of the proper material" for the Korea situations and lack of the "teacher's training and the workshop" for teachers about multicultural education. Second, the actual conditions of the multicultural education showed significant difference partly in the educational level, the teaching experience, and the type of organization. This study showed that longer teaching experiences had more experiences on the multicultural education, and the child care teachers had more experiences than the kindergarten teachers.
