따돌림 피해 경험이 우울과 자살생각에 미치는 영향: 성별차이를 중심으로 = The pathways from school bullying to depression and suicidal ideation: With a special focus on gender differences

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

School bullying is a serious problem to healthy child development, especially mental health. Depression and suicidal ideation have been found to be the most common correlates of school bullying victimization. The main purpose of this study is two-fold: to assess the effects of problem-solving ability, parental attitude, academic achievement as mediators in the pathways from school bullying victimization to depression and suicidal ideation; and to assess gender differences in the pathways. The major findings are as follows. First, problem-solving ability, parental attitude, and academic achievement are partially mediated in the pathways. Second, gender differences are confirmed in multi-group analysis. The path coefficient from parental attitude to suicidal ideation is higher for female students than male students. In contrast, the path coefficient from problem-solving ability to depression is higher for male students than female students. Third, the path coefficient from bulling victimization to problem-solving ability, depression, and suicidal ideation are higher for female students than male students. Fourth, the path coefficient from bulling victimization to academic achievement is higher for female students than male students. Based on the results of this study, the implications for school social work practices were discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

학교폭력 중 가장 크게 증가하고 있는 유형은 따돌림인데, 따돌림 피해경험 학생들이 경험하지 않은 학생들보다 우울과 자살생각의 가능성이 더 높다고 보고되고 있다. 본 연구는 따돌림 피해경험이 우울과 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 경로에서 성별차이를 확인하고자 선행연구와 이론에 근거하여 문제해결능력, 부모양육태도, 학업성취 등의 매개변인을 투입한 경로모형을 설정하였다. 이를 통해 초등학생의 우울과 자살예방에서 성별차이가 반영된 효율적인 개입에 대한 기초자료를 제공할 수 있을 것이다. 분석대상은 서울지역 초등학교 5, 6학년 563명이었으며 성별차이를 분석하기 위해 구조방정식모형의 다집단분석을 활용하였다. 따돌림 피해경험이 문제해결능력, 부모양육태도, 학업성취를 통해 부분적으로 매개되었고 우울과 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다집단분석결과, 따돌림 피해경험이 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로에서 남녀 학생 모두 유의하였지만 여학생이 더 높다는 것을 확인하였고 따돌림 피해경험이 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 경로에서는 여학생만 유의한 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 여학생의 우울은 친구관계에서 영향을 더 크게 받고, 남학생의 우울은 문제해결능력에 따라 영향을 더 크게 받는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같이 성별에 따라 변인의 영향력이 달리 나타날 수 있음에 주목하여 학교사회복지의 실천적, 정책적 함의를 제시하였다.
