        Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid Type-1 Channel in Cardiometabolic Protection

        Transient receptor potential vanilloid type-1 channel (TRPV1) is a non-selective cation channel with a preference for calcium ions that is able to sense a vast range of endogenous physical and chemical stimuli and plays an important role in transducing the sensations of noxious heat and pain signaling. Recent studies showed that TRPV1 is widely expressed in different tissues and organs beyond the sensory nerves and has multiple biological effects that are involved in functional regulation in the pancreas, blood vessel, adipose tissue and liver. To further understand the link between TRPV1 and cardiometabolic diseases, we reviewed the role of TRPV1 in hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidemia. This review provides new insights into the involvement of TRPV1 channels in the pathogenesis of cardiometabolic disorders and implicates this channel as a potential therapeutic target for the management of cardiometabolic diseases.

        Ovarian transcriptomic analysis of Shan Ma ducks at peak and late stages of egg production

        Objective: To assess the differences in ovarian transcriptomes in Shan Ma ducks between their peak and late stages of egg production, and to obtain new transcriptomic data of these egg-producing ducks. Methods: The Illumina HiSeq 2000 system was used for high throughput sequencing of ovarian transcriptomes from Shan Ma ducks at their peak or late stages of egg production. Results: Greater than 93% of the sequencing data had a base quality score (Q score) that was not less than 20 (Q20). From ducks at their peak stage of egg production, 42,782,676 reads were obtained, with 4,307,499,083 bp sequenced. From ducks at their late stage of egg production, 45,316,166 reads were obtained, with 4,562,063,363 bp sequenced. A comparison of the two datasets identified 2,002 differentially expressed genes, with 790 upregulated and 1,212 downregulated. Further analysis showed that 1,645 of the 2,002 differentially expressed genes were annotated in the non-redundant (NR) database, with 646 upregulated and 999 downregulated. Among the differentially expressed genes with annotations in the NR database, 696 genes were functionally annotated in the clusters of orthologous groups of proteins database, involving 25 functional categories. One thousand two hundred four of the differentially expressed genes with annotations in the NR database were functionally annotated in the gene ontology (GO) database, and could be divided into three domains and 56 categories. The three domains were cellular component, molecular function, and biological process. Among the genes identified in the GO database, 451 are involved in development and reproduction. Analysis of the differentially expressed genes with annotations in the NR database against the Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes database revealed that 446 of the genes could be assigned to 175 metabolic pathways, of which the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor signaling pathway, insulin signaling pathway, fructose and mannose metabolic pathways, gonadotropin releasing hormone signaling pathway and transforming growth factor beta signaling pathway were significantly enriched. Conclusion: The differences in ovarian transcriptomes in Shan Ma ducks between their peak and late stages of egg production were elucidated, which greatly enriched the ovarian transcriptomic information of egg-producing ducks.

        Effects of Surface Modification of Silane Coupling Agent on the Properties of Concrete with Freeze-thaw Damage

        Surface waterproofing treatment with silane coupling agent is developed to prepare surface modification concrete, in recent years, which possesses an excellent permeability resistance. Freeze-thaw damage inevitable exists in concrete exposed to the cold environment, therefor this paper intensively investigates the effects of surface modification of silane coupling agent on the properties of concrete with freeze-thaw damage. Freeze-thaw cycles, capillary absorption, chloride penetration and carbonization tests were carried out, respectively. The results demonstrate that the surface waterproofing treatment is appropriate for the durability repairing of concrete with freeze-thaw damage, and the penetration depth of silane coupling agent in concrete increases linearly with the rise of freeze-thaw damage. The water and chloride permeability both increase with the increased freeze-thaw cycles for various concrete; however, the surface modification concrete has a better permeability resistance than ordinary concrete with the same freeze-thaw damage. In particular, the permeability resistance increases with the increases of applied amount of silane coupling agent, and there exists a good correlation between the permeability behavior and induced freeze-thaw damage for various concrete. Abrasion significantly decrease the permeability resistance of surface modification concrete, which should be considered carefully in the durability repairing.

      • The Development of IGCT-based Large Capacity Three-Level Dual-PWM Converter

        In media and high voltage large capacity converter systems the Integrated Gate Commutated Thyristor (IGCT) take the place of Gate Turn Off Thyristor (GTO) duo to its outstanding performance. And IGCT-based large capacity three-level converters are widely used in industrial motor-driving field. In this paper the development of a set of IGCT-based large capacity three-level dual-PWM converter is introduced. The converter includes PWM rectifier, DC capacitors, PWM inverter. The topology of the converter is given. The close-loop control strategy and SVPWM algorithm of PWM rectifier is presented in this paper. The control strategy and algorithm of the PWM inverter is also presented. The experiments were performed and the results show that the converter reaches the design requirement and has excellent performance.

      • Novel Mn–Ce–Ti Mixed-Oxide Catalyst for the Selective Catalytic Reduction of NO<sub><i>x</i></sub> with NH<sub>3</sub>

        <P>Mn-Ce-Ti mixed-oxide catalyst prepared by the hydrothermal method was investigated for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx with NH3 in the presence of oxygen. It was found that the environmentally benign Mn-Ce-Ti catalyst exhibited excellent NH3-SCR activity and strong resistance against H2O and SO2 with a broad operation temperature window, which is very competitive for the practical application in controlling the NOx emission from diesel engines. On the basis of the catalyst characterization, the dual redox cycles (Mn4+ + Ce3+<-> Mn3+ + Ce4+, Mn4+ + Ti3+ <-> Mn3+ + Ti4+) and the amorphous structure play key roles for the high catalytic deNO(x) performance. Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy studies showed that the synergetic effect between Mn and Ce contributes to the formation of reactive intermediate species, thus promoting the NH3-SCR to proceed.</P>

        Influence of heterogeneous mechanical properties on the performance of forward static bending test of rail welded joint

        The contact FE model for forward static bending test of the rail joint welded by narrow gap arc welding (NGAW) was established, in which the welded joint with heterogeneous mechanical properties was divided into multiple regions with gradual and step-changed mechanical properties determined according to the hardness distribution characteristics of the actual rail welded joint. Then the stress and strain distribution of the heterogeneous rail welded joint was calculated and analyzed under the forward static bending load, referring to the standard of static bending test for the rail joint welded by flash butt welding. The calculated results indicate that the magnitude of equivalent stress (Von Mises stress) presents positive correlation with the value of strength in the rail welded joint, while the failure tendency presents negative correlation with the value of strength, and the lowest strength region in HAZ is the weakest and most vulnerable part of the rail welded joint. Therefore, increasing the strength of soften zone in HAZ by appropriate post-weld heat treatment process is effective to improve the performance of forward static bending test. Further analysis was made by adjusting the value of strength in the weld zone within the heterogeneous rail welded joint, and it was found that the weld zone with high strength match could reduce the value of Von Mises stress of all other zones and improve the performance of forward static bending test of the rail welded joint. All these researches are expected to provide valuable reference and guidance for the adjustment and optimization of the process of NGAW and post-weld heat treatment, and the improvement of the performance of static bending test of rail welded joint.

        Early Performance Evolution Tracking and Monitoring for Cement-based Piezoelectric Composites under Multiple Curing Conditions

        Piezoelectric composites based on 0 − 3 cement have been extensively employed in structuralhealth monitoring. Significantly, curing conditions considerably affect the forming strength ofmatrix materials. In order to obtain the best molding conditions of 0 − 3 cement-basedpiezoelectric composites, this paper studied the evolution of various parameters with timeduring the early molding process of 0 − 3 cement-based piezoelectric composites underdifferent temperature and humidity conditions. The analysis indicated that the higher thetemperature, which increases the forming speed of the sample, the lower the curing humidity,which decreases the current generated during the polarisation process of the sample, andlonger the time required to attain the polarisation voltage. The test concluded that the curingcondition of high temperature and high humidity was conducive to obtaining higherpiezoelectric and dielectric properties of the sample and the piezoelectric strain constant anddielectric constant reached the maximum value at 80oC/100RH, which were 45.5 pC/N and44.36 respectively.

        Transplantation of Wnt5a-modified NSCs promotes tissue repair and locomotor functional recovery after spinal cord injury

        Traditional therapeutic strategies for spinal cord injury (SCI) are insufficient to repair locomotor function because of the failure of axonal reconnection and neuronal regeneration in the injured central nervous system (CNS). Neural stem cell (NSC) transplantation has been considered a potential strategy and is generally feasible for repairing the neural circuit after SCI; however, the most formidable problem is that the neuronal differentiation rate of NSCs is quite limited. Therefore, it is essential to induce the neuronal differentiation of NSCs and improve the differentiation rate of NSCs in spinal cord repair. Our results demonstrate that both Wnt5a and miRNA200b-3p could promote NSC differentiation into neurons and that Wnt5a upregulated miRNA200b-3p expression through MAPK/JNK signaling to promote NSC differentiation into neurons. Wnt5a could reduce RhoA expression by upregulating miRNA200b-3p expression to inhibit activation of the RhoA/Rock signaling pathway, which has been reported to suppress neuronal differentiation. Overexpression of RhoA abolished the neurogenic capacity of Wnt5a and miRNA200b-3p. In vivo, miRNA200b-3p was critical for Wnt5a-induced NSC differentiation into neurons to promote motor functional and histological recovery after SCI by suppressing RhoA/Rock signaling. These findings provide more insight into SCI and help with the identification of novel treatment strategies.
