        A method of X-ray source spectrum estimation from transmission measurements based on compressed sensing

        A new method of X-ray source spectrum estimation based on compressed sensing is proposed in this paper. The algorithm K-SVD is applied for sparse representation. Nonnegative constraints are added by modifying the L1 reconstruction algorithm proposed by Rosset and Zhu. The estimation method is demonstrated on simulated spectra typical of mammography and CT. X-ray spectra are simulated with the Monte Carlo code Geant4. The proposed method is successfully applied to highly ill conditioned and under determined estimation problems with a good performance of suppressing noises. Results with acceptable accuracies (MSE < 5%) can be obtained with 10% Gaussian white noises added to the simulated experimental data. The biggest difference between the proposed method and the existing methods is that multiple prior knowledge of X-ray spectra can be included in one dictionary, which is meaningful for obtaining the true X-ray spectrum from the measurements.

        Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine was written by Heo Joon in 1610 and published in 1613, it was stored in the Library of Seoul University. It quotes more than 190 ancient Chinese books including mostly those of medicine. The author discusses mainly the theory of herbal formulas and its numbers comparing formulas between quotation and original text in Zhu Zhongjing's formula, Prescriptions from the Great Peace Imperial Grace Pharmacy, Effective Formulas Handed Down for Generations and Recovery from All Ailments. Through comparison it's found that there are five correlations between quotation and original. That shows a affinity relation in traditional medicine between China and Korea and a historical visage that Korean doctors followed Chinese medicine and tried to further development from it.

        Tissue-associated profiling of gene expression in the fifth-instar larvae of Chinese Oak Silkworm, Antheraea pernyi

        Antheraea pernyi is an edible insect with important economic value in both traditional and non-traditional ap plications. Elucidating the details of gene expression variation among different A. pernyi larval tissues will greatly improve our knowledge about A. pernyi biology and promote its protection and breeding. Here, tissue-based transcriptome and gene co-expression network analysis were performed for the fifth-instar larval tissues of testis, midgut, Malpighian tubule, head, trachea, silk gland, integument, hemocyte, ovary, and fat body. A total of 1,991 tissue-associated genes, including 62 transcription factor-encoding genes, were correlated with the development and functions of these tissues. Moreover, 10 gene co-expression modules that were highly corre lated with the tissues were also determined. The most important 30 genes with top connectivity in each module were identified as hub genes to form the core co-expression network with important biological functions in the corresponding tissues. Based on these resources, further in-depth studies should be conducted to determine the roles of candidate genes and transcription factors governing tissue development and trait formation in A. pernyi.

        Constant-stress accelerated life test of white organic light-emitting diode based on least square method under Weibull distribution

        It is currently hard to estimate the reliability parameters of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) when conducting a life test at normal stress, due to the remarkably improved life of OLEDs to thousands hours. This work adopted three constant-stress accelerated life tests (CSALTs) to predict the life of white OLEDs in a short time. TheWeibull function was applied to describe the life distribution, and the shape and scale parameters were estimated using the least square method. The experimental test data were statistically analyzed using a self-developed software. The life of white OLEDs predicted via this software is ingood agreement with that reported from the customers. The numerical results indicated that the assumptions of CSALT are correct, and that CSALT can be used to predict the life of white OLEDs. This work confirmed that the life of white OLEDs meets the Weibull distribution, and that the accelerated life equation conforms to the inverse power law. Furthermore, the precise accelerated parameters were shown to be particularly useful in enabling the rapid estimation of white OLEDs’ life.

        A transcriptional atlas of the silk gland in Antheraea pernyi revealed by IsoSeq

        Silk fibers spun by the silk gland of Antheraea pernyi have many unique properties and are of great value in genetic improvement and non-traditional applications. However, the complete transcriptional landscape and accurate genic annotation of the silk gland are yet to be conducted, which limits related studies on this organ. In this study, isoform sequencing revealed the full-length transcriptome of the A. pernyi silk gland, producing 12,572 high-confidence isoforms from 7,658 genes, among which more than 40 % of genes have not yet been annotated in the reference genome. Moreover, approximately 9 % of isoforms are computationally identified as long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). Up to 1,492 alternative splicing (AS) and 3,068 alternative polyadenylation (APA) events were revealed within this transcriptome. In addition, 2,569 putative transcription factors (TFs) belonging to 68 different families were first identified in A. pernyi genome, including 871 TFs in silk gland, and some TF families have undergone expansion or contraction. This study significantly improve our knowledge of the genes expressed in the silk gland of A. pernyi and provide a valuable resource for the in-depth study of silk protein synthesis and spinning, genetic improvement, and non-traditional applications in A. pernyi.

      • Current Controlled with Valley Voltage Detection Three-port Converter with Current-Pulsed Load

        In small power supply systems such as aircraft and ships, some loads present the characteristics of current pulse. After the pulse load is directly connected to the power supply bus, the instantaneous power of its load presents the pulse characteristic as the load current. In order to balance the difference of instantaneous power, this paper proposes a bi-directional converter to compensate for the current fluctuation caused by the pulse load characteristic, which makes the power supply bus in the state of constant voltage and constant current, and solves the problem of adaptability of pulse load and power supply. In the meanwhile, a current feedback control method with valley voltage loop is proposed to control the bi-directional converter, which is also applicable when there is any change in frequency or duty cycle of the pulse load, even the constant power load. Finally, an experimental prototype is built to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis.

        On a new fourth order self-adaptive time integration algorithm

        An explicit 4th order time integration scheme for solving the convection-diffusion equation is discussed in this paper. A system of ordinary differential equations are derived first by discretizing the spatial derivatives of the relevant PDE using the finite difference method. The integration of the ODEs is then carried out using a 4th order scheme and a self-adaptive technique based on the spatial grid spacing. For a non-uniform spatial grid, different time step sizes are used for the integration of the ODEs defined at different spatial points, which improves the computational efficiency significantly. A numerical example is also discussed in the paper to demonstrate the implementation and effectiveness of the method.

      • Management of Primary Hepatic Tuberculosis: A Single Center Experience

        Aims: Primary hepatic tuberculosis is a rare benign disease, without typical manifestation and specific test, which usually contribute to the misdiagnosis of the disease. Therefore, we reviewed eleven cases of primary hepatic tuberculosis in our medical center, in order to find the common features, which might be conductive to improve the diagnostic accuracy of the disease. Methods: Eleven cases of hepatic tuberculosis confirmed by histopathological examination from 2012 to 2017, were collected in our hospital. Clinical features and outcomes were retrospectively analyzed. Results: All the patients were in good condition at admission, including seven male and four female, aging from 18 to 66 years (average 42.7 years). They disclaimed history of pulmonary and any extra-pulmonary tuberculosis. Tumor markers including AFP, CA19-9 and CEA were within the normal range. All the patients, with liver function classified as Child Pugh A, showed no signs of infection. The lesions were presented as hypo-echoic, cystic or solid-cystic in ultrasonography, low density with periphery enhancement on CT scan, and mixed signals on MRI. Two patients were initially diagnosed as liver cancer, two as liver benign tumor, three as hilar tumor, two as liver abscess, and one as others. Five cases underwent partial hepatectomy, two received laparotomy and drainage of the abscess, two experienced laparotomy and liver biopsy, and two with percutaneous needle biopsy. All recovered well after the operation, subsequently received regular treatment of anti-tuberculosis, and completely cured for hepatic tuberculosis. Conclusions: Surgical intervention is an effective way to clarify the diagnosis of asymptomatic primary hepatic tuberculosis.

        A cavitation performance prediction method for pumps: Part2-sensitivity and accuracy

        At present, in the case of pump fast optimization, there is a problem of rapid, accurate and effective prediction of cavitation performance. In "A Cavitation Performance Prediction Method for Pumps PART1-Proposal and Feasibility" [1], a new cavitation performance prediction method is proposed, and the feasibility of this method is demonstrated in combination with experiments of a mixed flow pump. However, whether this method is applicable to vane pumps with different specific speeds and whether the prediction results of this method are accurate is still worthy of further study. Combined with the experimental results, the research evaluates the sensitivity and accuracy at different flow rates. For a certain operating condition, the method has better sensitivity to different flow rates. This is suitable for multi-parameter multi-objective optimization of pump impeller. For the test mixed flow pump, the method is more accurate when the area ratios are 13.718% and 13.826%. The cavitation vortex flow is obtained through high-speed camera, and the correlation between cavitation flow structure and cavitation performance is established to provide more scientific support for cavitation performance prediction. The method is not only suitable for cavitation performance prediction of the mixed flow pump, but also can be expanded to cavitation performance prediction of blade type hydraulic machinery, which will solve the problem of rapid prediction of hydraulic machinery cavitation performance.

        Comparative transcriptome analyses of drought-resistant and - susceptible Brassica napus L. and development of EST-SSR markers by RNA-Seq

        Brassica napus is a dicotyledonous plant in the family Brassicaceae. It is an important oil crop which has been widely cultivated over the world. However, drought stress is a very important threatening to B. napus production. In this study, two B. napus strains with different resistance to drought stress were treated with 200 g/L PEG-6000 as drought simulation agent (marked as S, R)and two controls were treated with 1/2 Hoagland medium(marked as ST, RT). With the help of Illumina paired-end RNA-seq technology and de novo assembly by Trinity, we obtained 107,294 Unigenes (integrated four sample results) with an average length of 834 bp and N50 1245. Of these Unigenes, 84,768, 92,545, 54,857, 28,129, 75,278 were assigned to NR, NT, Swiss-Prot, COG and GO database respectively. A total of 46,861 were mapped to 128 pathways by BLAST comparison against the KEGG database. In order to have an overall understanding of the unique genes’ expression difference among four samples, we utilized RPKM to calculate Unigene expression, and to identify differentially expressed genes. Besides, 22,414 SSRs were developed in this study.
