        Determining the Walker exponent and developing a modified Smith-Watson-Topper parameter model

        Mean stress effects significantly influence the fatigue life of components. In general, tensile mean stresses are known to reduce the fatigue life of components, whereas compressive mean stresses are known to increase it. To date, various methods that account for mean stress effects have been studied. In this research, considering the high accuracy of mean stress correction and the difficulty in obtaining the material parameter of the Walker method, a practical method is proposed to describe the material parameter of this method. The test data of various materials are then used to verify the proposed practical method. Furthermore, by applying the Walker material parameter and the Smith-Watson-Topper (SWT) parameter, a modified strain-life model is developed to consider sensitivity to mean stress of materials. In addition, three sets of experimental fatigue data from super alloy GH4133, aluminum alloy 7075-T651, and carbon steel are used to estimate the accuracy of the proposed model. A comparison is also made between the SWT parameter method and the proposed strainlife model. The proposed strain-life model provides more accurate life prediction results than the SWT parameter method.

        Lifetime prediction for turbine discs based on a modified Walker strain model

        We created three-dimensional models of turbine disc and blades of a type of aero-engine according to their geometries. Extant studies show that low cycle fatigue is the main failure mechanism of turbine disc. By using a non-linear elastic-plasticfinite element method, the static stress and strain state of the critically high stress regions, which can lead to operational failures,are determined. On the basis of stress-strain relation, a modified Walker strain life prediction model is proposed with norequired knowledge on the mean stress correction. Then the predicted life data from the modified Walker strain model arecompared with the testing results. After the verification, the modified Walker strain life prediction model and Miner’s rule wereapplied to predict the lifetime of the turbine disc under various operating conditions.

        DeepPTP: A Deep Pedestrian Trajectory Prediction Model for Traffic Intersection

        Compared with vehicle trajectories, pedestrian trajectories have stronger degrees of freedom and complexity, which poses a higher challenge to trajectory prediction tasks. This paper designs a mode to divide the trajectory of pedestrians at a traffic intersection, which converts the trajectory regression problem into a trajectory classification problem. This paper builds a deep model for pedestrian trajectory prediction at intersections for the task of pedestrian short-term trajectory prediction. The model calculates the spatial correlation and temporal dependence of the trajectory. More importantly, it captures the interactive features among pedestrians through the Attention mechanism. In order to improve the training speed, the model is composed of pure convolutional networks. This design overcomes the single-step calculation mode of the traditional recurrent neural network. The experiment uses Vulnerable Road Users trajectory dataset for related modeling and evaluation work. Compared with the existing models of pedestrian trajectory prediction, the model proposed in this paper has advantages in terms of evaluation indicators, training speed and the number of model parameters.

        Simulation and Test of Gear Pump Flow Pulsation

        Flow pulsation is the inherent properties of volumetric hydraulic pump, the direct noise source of hydraulic system. Simulating the internal gear pumps’ flow pulsation based on the mathematical model is difficult, so a new simulation method was adopted in this article. The chamber of the pump is divided into four Control Volumes (CVs), whose effective volumes change along with the rotation of the gears. The CVs take in fluid from suction port and squeeze fluid out at the outlet port. According the CVs connection relationship, the pump simulation model was established in AMESim. To verify the simulation results, flow pulsation experiment was conducted and experiment data show that simulation model is correct and the accuracy is up to 95%. Results prove that the modeling method and experiment test are effective. Thus the evaluation of flow pulsation from simulation to testing was established, which shown great significance to evaluate and develop the pump’s vibration and noise.

        Research progress on heavy metals removal by graphene from wastewater

        We selected literature from the core collection of the Web of Science (WOS) database as the research object and used visualization bibliometric software to analyse the 1313 collected studies. We found that the research on the graphene-based adsorption of heavy metals from wastewater has received widespread attention in various countries around the world, especially developing countries, since 2015, and Chinese researchers have made significant contributions. The adsorption mechanisms, adsorbent materials, and advanced adsorption techniques for the removal of heavy metals from wastewater by graphene have been the focus and hotspots in the research in this field in recent years. Heavy metal removal from wastewater with graphene has strong application potential. In the future, researchers in this area can focus on exploring issues such as “new materials,” “recyclability,” and “interdisciplinarity” to break through existing technological bottlenecks, supplement the technical research and development of graphene materials, and promote advances in this field.         Traffic Flow Prediction Model Based on Spatio-Temporal Dilated Graph Convolution

        With the increase of motor vehicles and tourism demand, some traffic problems gradually appear, such as traffic congestion, safety accidents and insufficient allocation of traffic resources. Facing these challenges, a model of Spatio-Temporal Dilated Convolutional Network (STDGCN) is proposed for assistance of extracting highly nonlinear and complex characteristics to accurately predict the future traffic flow. In particular, we model the traffic as undirected graphs, on which graph convolutions are built to extract spatial feature informations. Furthermore, a dilated convolution is deployed into graph convolution for capturing multi-scale contextual messages. The proposed STDGCN integrates the dilated convolution into the graph convolution, which realizes the extraction of the spatial and temporal characteristics of traffic flow data, as well as features of road occupancy. To observe the performance of the proposed model, we compare with it with four rivals. We also employ four indicators for evaluation. The experimental results show STDGCN’s effectiveness. The prediction accuracy is improved by 17% in comparison with the traditional prediction methods on various real-world traffic datasets.

        Intestinal segment and vitamin D3 concentration affect gene expression levels of calcium and phosphorus transporters in broiler chickens

        Two experiments were conducted in this research. Experiment 1 investigated the spatial expression characteristics of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) transporters in the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum of 21-day-old broilers provided with adequate nutrient feed. Experiment 2 evaluated the effects of dietary vitamin D3 (VD3) concentration (0, 125, 250, 500, 1,000, and 2,000 IU/kg) on growth performance, bone development, and gene expression levels of intestinal Ca and P transporters in 1–21-day-old broilers provided with the negative control diet without supplemental VD3. Results in experiment 1 showed that the mRNA levels of calcium- binding protein 28-kDa (CaBP-D28k), sodium-calcium exchanger 1 (NCX1), plasma membrane calcium ATPase 1b (PMCA1b), and IIb sodium-phosphate cotransporter (NaPi-IIb) were the highest in the broiler duodenum. By contrast, the mRNA levels of inorganic phosphate transporter 1 (PiT-1) and 2 (PiT-2) were the highest in the ileum. Results in experiment 2 showed that adding 125 IU/kg VD3 increased body weight gain (BWG), feed intake (FI), bone weight, and percentage and weight of Ca and P in the tibia and femur of 1–21-day-old broilers compared with the negative control diet (p < 0.05). The rise in dietary VD3 levels from 125 to 1,000 IU/kg further increased the BWG, FI, and weights of the bone, ash, Ca, and P (p < 0.05). No difference in growth rate and leg bone quality was noted in the broilers provided with 1,000 and 2,000 IU/kg VD3 (p > 0.05). Supplementation with 125–2,000 IU/kg VD3 increased the mRNA abundances of intestinal Ca and P transporters to varying degrees. The mRNA level of CaBP-D28k increased by 536, 1,161, and 28 folds in the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum, respectively, after adding 1,000 IU/kg VD3. The mRNA levels of other Ca and P transporters (PMCA1b, NCX1, NaPi-IIb, PiT-1, and PiT-2) increased by 0.57–1.74 folds by adding 1,000–2,000 IU/kg VD3. These data suggest that intestinal Ca and P transporters are mainly expressed in the duodenum of broilers. Moreover, the addition of VD3 stimulates the two mineral transporter transcription in broiler intestines.

        An improved Corten-Dolan’s model based on damage and stress state effects

        The value of exponent d in Corten-Dolan’s model is generally considered to be a constant. Nonetheless, the results predicted on thebasis of this statement deviate significantly from the real values. In consideration of the effects of damage and stress state on fatigue lifeprediction, Corten-Dolan’s model is improved by redefining the exponent d used in the traditional model. The improved model performsbetter than the traditional one with respect to the demonstration of a fatigue failure mechanism. Predictions of fatigue life on thebasis of investigations into three metallic specimens indicate that the errors caused by the improved model are significantly smaller thanthose induced by the traditional model. Meanwhile, predictions derived according to the improved model fall into a narrower dispersionzone than those made as per Miner’s rule and the traditional model. This finding suggests that the proposed model improves the life predictionaccuracy of the other two models. The predictions obtained using the improved Corten-Dolan’s model differ slightly from thosederived according to a model proposed in previous literature; a few life predictions obtained on the basis of the former are more accuratethan those derived according to the latter. Therefore, the improved model proposed in this paper is proven to be rational and reliable giventhe proven validity of the existing model. Therefore, the improved model can be feasibly and credibly applied to damage accumulationand fatigue life prediction to some extent.

      • Parallel FM Signal Demodulation System based on Software Radio Platform

        A parallel FM signal demodulation system is designed in this paper. All FM signals from 90MHz to 110MHz could be captured, separated and restored into original information. The method of digital channelized receiving is used in the system to divide the broadband signals into independent ones according to their center frequency. This design could be used in the field of electron reconnaissance and multichannel communication system. We realized the design on a software radio platform based on the structure of SCA (Software Communication Architecture), and the advantages of this ideal is discussed in the paper.
