        PSCArs2294008 T polymorphism increases the risk of bladder cancer in Bai, Dai, and Han ethnicity in China and a potential mechanism

        The aim of this study is to make a comparative evaluation on association of PSCArs2294008 C/T polymorphism with the risk of bladder cancer in Bai, Dai, and Han people in China. A potential mechanism of the T allele risk was also investigated. T allele increased the occurring risk of bladder cancer in Han (OR 1.34; 95% CI 1.17–1.69), Dai, (OR 1.33; 95% CI 1.12–1.70), and Bai (OR 1.14; 95% CI 1.08–1.57) people. T genotype was also observed to associate with invasive bladder cancer in all the three populations (Bai, OR 1.15, 95% CI 1.07–1.87; Dai, OR 1.17, 95% CI 1.05–2.23; Han, OR 1.22, 95% CI 1.10–2.09). PSCA m-RNA levels in T genotype bladder cancer tissues were significantly lower than those in C genotype. An enhancement of PSCA m-RNA level by over-expressing C or T genotype in bladder cancer cells both decreased the cell proliferation and migration, but not affected cell cycle. The increased cell apoptasis due to the over-expression of the two variants was observed. Those change of cell proliferation, migration, and apoptasis was more remarkable in over-expressed C genotype cells than those in over-expressed T genotype. T genotype was genetically high risk to the occurrence of bladder cancer. The decreased PSCA m-RNA levels were involved in the progress of bladder cancer. T allele takes more responsibility for PSCA m-RNA down-regulation to promote cell proliferation and migration and hinder cell apoptasis, thus leading to a higher risk.

        Sodium nitrate modified SBA-15 and fumed silica for efficient production of acrylic acid and 2,3-pentanedione from lactic acid

        The catalytic conversion of lactic acid to acrylic acid and 2,3-pentanedione over sodium nitrate-supported mesoporous SBA-15 and fumed silica was studied. The yields of acrylic acid, 2,3-pentanedione, and acetaldehyde are 44.8%, 25.1%, and 13.3%, respectively, over the 23%NaNO3/SBA-15 catalyst. The performance of the catalysts is strongly affected by NaNO3 loading, catalyst texture and porosity, and product diffusion efficiency. A proper control of NaNO3 loading can result in modification catalyst structure for improvement of 2,3-pentanedione selectivity. Under certain reaction conditions, the surface NaNO3 species can readily transform to sodium lactate that functions as active component to catalyze the target reactions.

        Flutter reliability analysis of suspension bridges based on multiplicative dimensional reduction method

        A reliability analysis method is proposed in this paper based on the maximum entropy (MaxEnt) principle in which constraints are specified in terms of the fractional moments instead of integer moments. Then a multiplicative dimensional reduction method (M-DRM) is introduced to compute the fractional moments. The method is applicable for both explicit and implicit limit state functions of complex structures. After two examples illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of this method in comparison to the Monte Carlo simulation (MCS), the method is used to analyze the flutter reliability of suspension bridge. The results show that the empirical formula method in which the limit state function is explicitly represented as a function of variables is only a too conservative estimate for flutter reliability analysis but is not accurate adequately. So it is not suitable for reliability analysis of bridge flutter. The actual flutter reliability analysis should be conducted based on a finite element method in which limit state function is implicitly represented as a function of variables. The proposed M-DRM provide an alternate and efficient way to analyze a much more complicated flutter reliability of long span suspension bridge.

        Parameter optimization of five-axis polishing using abrasive belt flap wheel for blisk blade

        Considering the weak rigidity of blisk blades and the limited accessibility of blisk tunnels, polishing blisk blades is difficult when using tools with poor flexibility and large dimension. Hence, to reduce the surface roughness (SR) of a blisk blade, five-axis polishing method with abrasive belt flap wheel (ABFW) is employed to polish the blisk blade based on the analysis of the blisk structure and advantages of ABFW polishing. Polishing experiments based on central composite design are performed using ABFW. Response surface method (RSM) is employed to establish a predictive model between SR and various parameters, including ABFW size, contact force, spindle speed, and feed rate. Analysis of variance is then performed to evaluate the proposed model. The degree of influence of each factor on SR after polishing using ABFW is determined by plotting main effects. The interactions of polishing factors on SR are analyzed by RSM. Optimal parameters are obtained by response surface optimization. Finally, an experiment on blisk blade polishing using ABFW on a five-axis polishing machine is carried out for confirmation. Results indicate that the surface quality of the blisk blade after polishing is significantly improved, with SR being less than 0.4 μm.

        Robust Stabilization of Switched Positive Linear Systems with Uncertainties

        This paper investigates the robust stabilization of a class of switched positive linear systems. The uncertainties of system models refer to the interval and polytopic uncertainty. By using the multiple linear copositive Lyapunov functions approach and linear programming approache, the robust sta-bilization of those systems in the autonomous form with uncertainties is studied. Further, the control synthesis of those systems in the non-autonomous form with uncertainties is addressed. Finally, a simulating example illustrates the validity of the design.

        Robust Model Predictive Control for Uncertain Positive Time-delay Systems

        This paper proposes the robust model predictive control of positive time-delay systems with interval andpolytopic uncertainties, respectively. The model predictive control framework consists of linear constraint, linearperformance index, linear Lyapunov function, linear programming algorithm, and cone invariant set. By virtue ofmatrix decomposition technique, robust model predictive controllers of interval and polytopic positive systems withmultiple state delays are designed, respectively. A multi step control strategy is utilized and a cone invariant set isconstructed. Linear programming is used for the corresponding MPC conditions. Finally, a numerical example isgiven to verify the effectiveness of the proposed design.

        Detection of Bobbin Yarn Surface Defects by Visual Saliency Analysis

        In order to solve the problem of unstable quality of the traditional bobbin yarn surface defect detection, a methodfor detecting the surface defect of bobbin yarn using visual saliency analysis is proposed. Firstly, the Difference of Gaussianalgorithm is used to suppress the texture of the image, and the contrast between the defect area and the background isenhanced. Then, the method of wavelet threshold is applied to filter the noise in the images after the Difference of Gaussian,and the detailed features of the defect area are preserved while the noise interference is eliminated. Finally, the frequencytuned visual saliency algorithm is used to extract and segment the defective regions accurately. After the process about theDifference of Gaussian and wavelet threshold denoising, the original image of the bobbin yarn can make the image highlightthe feature information of the defect area on the basis of ensuring elimination of the background texture and noise, andfacilitate the detection of the defect area by combining visual saliency analysis. In the detection of the accuracy and integrityof the defect area, the detection method of this paper is better than the control method, and the defect segmentation result ismore accurate. The proposed method for detecting the surface defect of the bobbin can not only completely eliminate theinfluence of the background texture of the bobbin surface, but also accurately and completely detect the surface defect of thebobbin, and the defect details remain intact. In this paper, the effectiveness of the algorithm is further verified by objectivetests. The precision and recall rate of the test are 95.15 % and 98.00 %, respectively, which can meet the needs of actualdetection.

        Event-triggered Asynchronous Filter of Switched Nonlinear Positive Systems

        This paper is concerned with the event-triggered nonlinear filter (ETNF) problem of switched nonlinear positive systems (SNPSs) under asynchronous switching. The nonlinearities of the systems are located into several sector fields. Under a 1-norm inequality-based event-triggering condition, the augmented filter error systems are established by considering the subsystems and the corresponding filters in the matched and mismatched time intervals. Multiple copositive Lyapunov functions (MCLFs) associated with an average dwell time (ADT) switching are employed for the systems. A nonlinear asynchronous filter based on event-triggering mechanism is constructed for the underlying systems with nonlinear disturbance in terms of the matrix decomposition technique. The novelties contain three aspects: (i) A nonlinear filter is constructed for SNPSs, (ii) A linear programming (LP)-based filter gain design approach is introduced, and (iii) An event-triggering mechanism is developed for SNPSs. Finally, one example is given to verify the effectiveness of the obtained results.

        Draw Textured Yarn Packages Hairiness Defect Detection Based on the Multi-directional Anisotropic Gaussian Directional Derivative

        Draw textured yarn (DTY) packages is a significant raw material in manufacturing. Various defects will begenerated on surface during production and transportation, of which hairiness is the most common and intractable defect. Many methods have been applied for fabric surface defect detection, but little research is aimed at DTY packages hairinessdefects. In order to achieve the accuracy of DTY packages hairiness detection in industrial production, a method based onmulti-directional anisotropic Gaussian directional derivatives was proposed to accomplish the DTY packages hairiness defectdetection. Firstly, the original defect images were obtained by a device consisting of plane array light source, camera, andcomputer with image processing algorithm. Secondly, the gradient information of DTY packages images was constructed byanisotropic Gaussian directional derivative to characterize the defect. Then image response maps with all directions werefused to obtain the final response map. After that, a special difference of median (DOM) filter was proposed to removeuseless information. Finally, the segmentation result was obtained by threshold method and morphological processing. Compared with various classical methods, the proposed method obtained the best performance in our evaluation experimentsabout DTY packages hairiness detection.
