        Nitrogen-Doped Hollow Carbon Nanospheres Derived from Dopamine as High-Performance Anode Materials for Sodium-Ion Batteries

        Designed as an anode material for sodium ion batteries, porous nitrogen-doped hollow carbon nanospheres (N-HCS, D = 200 nm) are successfully synthesized via the mature template-assisted method using silica and dopamine as template and carbon precursor, respectively. For detailed characterization of Raman, FTIR and XPS results, it is revealed that N-doping can form a disordered carbon structure and induce a large number of topological defects on carbon outer wall. The N-HCS electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability and rate capability, delivering a satisfying capacity of 306 mAh g-1 over 600 cycles at a discharging rate of 0.05 A g-1 and an attainable capacity of 188 mAh g-1 even at a high discharging rate of 3.0 A g-1. The excellent electrochemical performance of N-HCS can be attributed to the high content of pores. Moreover, the high content of pyridinic and graphitic N could facilitate the transfer of sodium ion and electron.

        POINTWISE ESTIMATES AND BOUNDEDNESS OF GENERALIZED LITTLEWOOD-PALEY OPERATORS IN BMO(Rn)

        In this paper, we study the generalized Littlewood-Paley operators. It is shown that the generalized g-function, Lusin area function and g∗λ-function on any BMO function are either infinite everywhere, or finite almost everywhere, respectively; and in the latter case, such operators are bounded from BMO(Rn) to BLO(Rn), which improve and generalize some previous results.

        ER stress and unfolded protein response (UPR) signaling modulate GLP-1 receptor signaling in the pancreatic islets

        Insulin is essential for maintaining normoglycemia and is predominantly secreted in response to glucose stimulation by β-cells. Incretin hormones, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide, also stimulate insulin secretion. However, as obesity and type 2 diabetes worsen, glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide loses its insulinotropic efficacy, whereas GLP-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists continue to be effective owing to its signaling switch from Gs to Gq. Herein, we demonstrated that endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress induced a transition from Gs to Gq in GLP-1R signaling in mouse islets. Intriguingly, chemical chaperones known to alleviate ER stress, such as 4-PBA and TUDCA, enforced GLP-1R's Gq utilization rather than reversing GLP-1R's signaling switch induced by ER stress or obese and diabetic conditions. In addition, the activation of X-box binding protein 1 (XBP1) or activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6), 2 key ER stress-associated signaling (unfolded protein response) factors, promoted Gs utilization in GLP-1R signaling, whereas Gq employment by ER stress was unaffected by XBP1 or ATF6 activation. Our study revealed that ER stress and its associated signaling events alter GLP-1R's signaling, which can be used in type 2 diabetes treatment.

      • The Significance in Martial Arts History as Warriors Stratum for Constructing Chinese Wu Xia

        Purpose: For a private study about Chinese Wu Xia, a representative warriors stratum of ancient China, this study is about to learn in what environment of times was Chinese Wu Xia formed and how did the social trend of that times influence on forming Chinese Wu Xia. Based on that, this study is also about to investigate what significance does the construction of Chinese Wu Xia have in the history of Chinese martial arts. Method: This study used documentary research to collect kinds of Chinese classics, academic publications and theses and then analyzed and compared them. Result: People in primitive Chinese age put stress on martial arts and developed it consistently. Consequently, they have gradually formed martial spirit. Seeing the records of Chinese classics like Lushi Chunqiu, Rites of Zhou and Zhuangzi, it can be said that martial arts like swordmanship actively spreaded according to the martial spirit among people in the Spring and Autumn & warring state period (B.C.770-221) and even a warriors`` group with professional martial art appeared. Scholar, the initial warriors stratum in Chinese history, was born under the environment of times with such martial spirit. However, the scholars stratum failed to last long but gradually got differentiated since Late Spring and Autumn due to frequent war and chaotic social structure. Some of the scholars gave up to be warriors and chose literati instead, while the rest determined that martial art was more important than liberal arts and kept focusing on training martial arts. Two groups differentiated from such scholars stratum started to be called as “Confucianism” in the case of literati and “Xia” for warriors. Since then, Chinese Wu Xia had worked on positive lines with their basic feature as martial arts for a long time in ancient Chinese history and they became a representative warriors stratum of ancient China. As Chinese Wu Xia was formed like that, Chinese martial arts went specialization for the first time in history, which did an important leading role for the martial arts to develop specially in the later generation. Martial arts at that times was also a basic function of Chinese Wu Xia, through which they worked. Therefore, construction of Chinese Wu Xia can be seen to have promoted Chinese martial arts to go occupational. Conclusion: Having been differentiated from scholars stratum in Late Spring and Autumn, Chinese Wu Xia is a representative warriors stratum in ancient China. Following the construction of such stratum, Chinese ancient martial arts went professional and occupational. In addition to that, it can be seen as an unignorable precondition in specialization process of martial arts of later generation.

        Visible-Light Self-Driven Photodetector with Enhanced Performance Based on CdS /Si Nanowire Heterojunction

        In this article, the appealing application of the CdS/Si nanowire heterostructure asthe self-driven photodetector was presented based on a facile successive ioniclayer absorption and reaction. Compared to CdS /Si planar based device,photocurrent illuminated with light (532 nm) to dark-current ratio was enhancedsignificantly for CdS/Si nanowire based detector. Measurements of time resolvedresponses at zero bias were conducted, and the result also demonstrated that CdS/Si nanowire heterostructure had a high photosensitivity and fast photo-responseas the self-driven visible light photodetector. Additionally, the correspondingmechanism for the phenomenon was discussed, and it is believed that such a highphotoresponse comes from the improved optical absorption as well as the goodcarrier transfer and collection capability. The present CdS/Si core-shellheterojunction architectures are envisaged as potentially valuable candidates fornext-generation photodectors.

        Host-guest doping induced excited state energy transfer for efficient room temperature phosphorescence emission

        The 1,8-naphthalimide derivatives as the guest and the benzophenone (BP) analogues bis(4-chlorophenyl)methanone (BP2C) and bis(4-fluorophenyl)methanone (BP2F) benzophenone derivativesas the host, we constructed a series of novel doping systems with fluorescence and room temperaturephosphorescence (RTP) dual emission. The steady-state spectroscopy, ultrafast spectroscopy techniques,and theoretical calculations indicate that Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) between singlet statesbetween host and guest components enables energy redistribution in doped systems. At the same time,the Dexter energy transfer (DET) between the triplet states realizes the obvious absorption of the excitedtriplet state of the guest, resulting in the long-lived room temperature phosphorescence of the doped system. Doping materials have unlimited potential for information storage and anti-counterfeiting byexploiting the properties of photo activation.

        Effects of Gal-13 on the Content of Immunoglobulin, Proliferation of Lymphocyte and Antibody Titers after Vaccination with Infectious Bursal Disease Virus Vaccine in Chickens

        Gal-13 is an antimicrobial peptide isolated from chicken intestine. Ninety chickens were randomly divided into two groups (45 chickens for each group) to determine the effect of oral administration of Gal-13 on the acquired immune response. The chickens in the first group were fed a diet without Gal-13 as the control, and the chickens in the second group were fed the same diet, except that Gal-13 ($1{\mu}g/ml$) was suspended in drinking water just after hatching. Samples of blood, thymus, bursa of fabricius and spleen were taken at day 1, 4, 7, 10 and 17. The chickens in both groups received infectious bursal disease virus vaccine at day 20, and then sera samples were collected for analysis at 14, 21, 28 and 35 days after vaccination. The results showed: (1) Gal-13 could enhance the content of immunoglobulin (Ig)G at the age of 4 to10 days (p<0.05) and IgM at the age of 4 and 10 days (p<0.05) in the serum; (2) In vitro experiments showed that Gal-13 (0.625-1.250${\mu}g/ml$) enhanced the proliferation of peripheral blood lymphocytes of the chickens stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and concanavlin A (ConA). Compared to the control, Gal-13 (1 ${\mu}g/ml$) enhanced the proliferation of bursa lymphocytes at 17 days of age (p<0.01) and thymus lymphocytes at 7 days of age (p<0.01), but restrained lymphocyte proliferation in chicken spleen and differed significantly at day 10 (p<0.01); (3) Gal-13 enhanced infectious bursal disease virus antibody in sera of chickens 21 days after infectious bursal disease virus vaccine administration (p<0.05). These results suggested that Gal-13 could modulate adaptive immune responses of chickens.

        중국 태권도 지도자들의 역사관 형성의 특징에 관한 연구

        본 연구는 태권도가 전 세계의 무도스포츠로 발전되어 가고 있는 가운데 중국 태권도 지도자의 태권도 역사관을 알아봄으로써 태권도 역사 연구의 당위성을 확보 하는데 의의가 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 태권도역사연구의 방향성 모색을 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 중국 태권도 지도자의 태권도사관 형성과정에 대해 알아 보는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 2012년 12월부터 2013년 3월까지 4개월 동안 중국지도자 5명을 대상으로 질적 연구방법 중 하나인 심층면담을 이용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 기존 선행연구의 다양한 태권도사관에 관한 이론 적 배경을 토대로 연구 참여자의 태권도사관 형성과정을 다각적으로 분석한 결과, 서로 다른 학습배경과 수련배경을 가지고 있는 연구 참여자들은 국기원에서 발표한 태권도사에 대하여 신뢰하지 않고 있었으며 대부분 태권도역사에 대하여 개인적인 견해를 가지고 있었다. 그 원인은 국기원의 태권도사에 대한 신뢰성 부족, 태권도와 가라테․중국무술의 유사한 관계, 태권도 철학의 고유성 부재 3가지로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to secure the appropriateness of Taekwondo history study by finding out Taekwondo historical view of Chinese Taekwondo masters in the age when Taekwondo is developed into the worldwide martial art sports. Therefore, the study found out the creation of Taekwondo historical view of Chinese Taekwondo master in order to provide basic data for searching for the direction of Taekwondo history study. For the study purpose, for 4 months from December 2012 to March 2013, 5 Chinese Taekwondo masters were selected and in-depth interview, which is a qualitative study method, was performed to collect data. On the basis of theoretical background about the creation process of various Taekwondo historical views, which are shown in previous studies, the study participants' creation processes of Taekwondo historical views were analyzed in multilateral ways. The result revealed that the study participants who have different study backgrounds and training backgrounds did not trust Taekwondo history announced by Kukkiwon but most of them had individual viewpoints. Its reasons were insufficient reliance on Kukkiwon's Taekwondo history, similar relationship between Taekwondo and Karate and Chinese martial arts and absence of unique Taekwondo philosophy.

      • Weight Assignment using Entropy

        In this paper, a compromised method is presented for the interlaced signals. The interlaced signals are vertically reconstructed by interpolation method. The efficient edge directed line average method is the advanced version of edge directed line average method, which uses two more useful metrics to assess edge direction. On the other hand, Bob method does not consider edge direction, rather its results are the average results of upper and lower lines. We used information entropy to give weights. Considered two methods were efficient edge directed line average and Bob methods, and we obtain compromised approach. Experimental results show that the presented method provides satisfactory results.
