        Slow Modulation Behavior of the FMCW Radar for Wireless Channel Sounding Technology

        <P>A frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar is used to sounding wireless channel. An intermediate frequency signal of the FMCW radar can be treated simultaneously as a frequency-domain signal as well as a time-domain signal when the modulation time is sufficiently long. This distinctive compatibility enables the FMCW radar system to measure the normalized impulse response for the power delay profile and Rician K-factor by using an oscilloscope. This theory is fully demonstrated and experiments are performed in the reverberation chamber for the small-scale fading environments of Rayleigh and Rician conditions, and all measurements are verified by using the oscilloscope.</P>

        동의보감(東醫寶鑑) 진액문(津液門)의 침구법(鍼灸法)에 관한 소고(小考)

        Objectives: The aim of this study was to show the rationale of point-selection on the methods of acupuncture and moxibustion in the Resin section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Methods: First, We summarized the cause of each disease in the Resin section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Then, We explained the rationale of acupuncture point-selection referring to the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam, character of each acupuncture points, flow of meridian pathways and specific acupuncture points etc. Results and Conclusions: Total 11 acupuncture points were used in the Resin section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Most of acupuncture points were specific acupuncture points. But, some rationale of acupuncture point-selection were explained by the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam, flow of meridian pathways etc.

        동의보감(東醫寶鑑) 구설문(口舌門)의 침구법(鍼灸法)에 관한 소고(小考)

        Objectives: The aim of this study was to show the rationale of point-selection on acupuncture and moxibustion in the Mouth & Tongue Section (in the Oehyeong Chapter) of the Donguibogam. Methods: First, We summarized the causes of each disease in the Mouth & Tongue Section (in the Oehyeong Chapter) of the Donguibogam. Then, We explained the rationale of acupuncture point-selection referring to the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam, character of each acupuncture points, flow of meridian pathways and specific acupuncture points etc. Results and Conclusions: Total 20 acupuncture points were used in the Mouth & Tongue Section (in the Oehyeong Chapter) of the Donguibogam. Most of acupuncture points were specific acupuncture points. But, some rationale of acupuncture point-selection were explained by the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam, flow of meridian pathways etc.

        Sphingomonas hankyongensis sp. nov. isolated from tap water

        <P>A Gram reaction-negative, strictly aerobic, non-motile, translucent and rod-shaped bacterium (designated W1-2-4(T)) isolated from tap water was characterized by a polyphasic approach to clarify its taxonomic position. Strain W1-2-4(T) was observed to grow optimally at 25-30 A degrees C and at pH 6.5 on nutrient agar. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain W1-2-4(T) belongs to the genus Sphingomonas and is most closely related to the Sphingomonas fennica K101(T) (95.3 % similarity). The G+C content of genomic DNA was 67.1 mol%. Chemotaxonomic data [major ubiquinone-Q-10, major polyamine-homospermidine, major fatty acids-summed feature 8 (comprising C-18:1 omega 7c/omega 6c), C-16:0 and C-14:0 2OH] supported the affiliation of strain W1-2-4(T) to the genus Sphingomonas. Strain W1-2-4(T) could be differentiated genotypically and phenotypically from the recognized species of the genus Sphingomonas. The novel isolate therefore represents a novel species, for which the name Sphingomonas hankyongensis sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain W1-2-4(T) (=KACC 18308(T) = LMG 28595(T)).</P>

        Condition monitoring of cooling tower fan using K‐band Doppler radar

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>A contactless condition monitoring technique for cooling tower fans is proposed using K‐band Doppler radar. The system is realized using a commercial K‐band Doppler radar module, the Hilbert transform is adopted to minimize the hardware complexity, and the Fourier transform is used to analyze the received signal. The proposed system has several advantages. First, Doppler radar is less vulnerable to the adverse effects of scattering from mist or dust, since the wavelength of a microwave is longer than that of a laser. Second, the proposed radar system can be applied to any sized fans, although it is suitable for cooling tower fans. Third, it can be easily implemented in a low‐cost manner. The test results show that the RPM of the HANARO cooling tower fan agree with that of the motor in both low‐speed and high‐speed modes. The proposed system can be applied to the condition monitoring of cooling tower fans in thermal control systems.</P>

      • Two Cases of Uterine Tumors Resembling Ovarian Sex-cord Tumors : Rare Case of Uterine Tumor

        Uterine tumors resembling ovarian sex-cord tumors (UTROSCT) are very rare tumors that occur mainly in the uterine fundus of women in reproductive age. These tumors can be classified into group 1 and group 2 by histological results. In group 1, epitheliallike differentiation is partially observed in the tumors. In group 2, sex-cord elements are predominant in uterine mural mass. We experienced UTROSCT group 1 in a 29-yearold woman who complained of severe abdominal pain that started one week after delivery and UTROSCT group 2 case in a 49-year-old woman who complained of dysfunctional uterine bleeding. We report two different types of UTROSCT cases that we experienced.

        기후변화와 농업생산의 전망과 대책

        Over the 20th century global temperature increase has been 0.6℃. The globally averaged surface temperature is projected to increase by1.4 to 5.8℃ over the period 1990 to 2100. Nearly all land areas will have higher maximum temperature and minimum temperature, and fewer cold days and frost days. More intense precipitation events will take place over many areas. Over most mid-latitude continental interiors will have increased summer continental drying and associated risk of drought. By 2100, if the annual surface temperature increase is 3.5℃, we will have 15.9℃ from 12.4℃ at present. Also the annual precipitation will range 1,118-2,447 mm from 972-1,841 mm at present in Korea. Consequently the average crop periods for summer crops will be 250 days that prolonged 32 days than at present. In the case of gradual increase of global warming, an annual crop can be adapted to the changing climate through the selection of filial generations in breeding process. The perennial crops such as an apple should be shifted the chief producing place to northern or high latitude areas where below 13.5℃ of the annual surface temperature. If global warming happens suddenly over the threshold atmospheric greenhouse gases, then all ecosystems will have tremendous disturbance. Agricultural land-use plan, which state that farmers decide what to plant, based on their climate-based advantages. Therefore, farmers will mitigate possible negative impacts associated with the climate change. The farmers will have application to use agricultural meteorological information system, and agricultural long-range weather forecast system for their agroecosystems management. The ideal types of crops under CO_2 increase and climate change conditions are considered that ecological characteristics need indispensable to accomplish the sustainable agriculture as the diversification of genetic resources from yield-oriented to biomass-oriented characteristics with higher potential of CO_2 absorption and primary production. In addition, a heat-and-cold tolerance, a pest resistance, an environmental adaptability, and production stability should be also incorporated collectively into integrated agroecosystem.

        In this study, the experimental study has carried out to select pitch angle on the backward flow in an axial fan that has adjustable pitch blades. With the change of pitch angle of axial fan with adjustable blade, air flow rate, pressure and air flow direction can be changed. Because of this merit, adjustable axial fan can be used in the backward flow. For the selection of the backward flow pitch angle, fan performance test method is selected by KS B 6311. Dynamic pressure, static pressure, electric current and voltage are measured in each pitch angles of axial fan that are 36°, -16°, -21°, -26°, -31° and -36°. In the result of test, fan performance curves at several pitch angle has been investigated. Finally, pitch angle of -26° has been selected to get largest flow rate at backward flow situation.
