Objetives : In order to provide useful data tbr the further clinical studies with Korean alcohol-dependent patients, enrollment and non-relapse rates were investigated while alcohol-dependent patients wcre followed up for 24 weeks. Methods : The subjects of this study were alcohol-dependent male patients who, for the first time, visited a hospital among 3 groups of hospitals, University Hospital, General Hospital or Mental Hospital, or those who needed to be followed up after discharge from those hospitals. After assigning 12 subjects to each hospital, we investigated enrollment and non-relapse rates while cognitive-behavioral therapy and pharmacotherapy were provided. Results : 1) Forty-eight patients were enrolled and the rate of enrollment was 36.4%. The enrollment rate in the University Hospital group was 52.1%, in the General Hospital group 50.0%. and in the Mental Hospital group 10.4%. 2) In 48 patients, non-relapse rate was 27.1% at 12 week and 18.8% at 24 weeks after starting follow-up. It was 24.4% and 20.0% at 12 and 24 weeks, repectively, in the University Hospital group while the General Hospital group showed 33.3% and 16.7%, respectively, and the Mental Hospital Group showed 20.0% at both 12 and 24 weeks. Conclusion : These results provide important data for further clinical studies of Korean alcohol-dependent patients.

<P>This paper presents a novel polyphase-basis discrete cosine transform that can be used for challenges to observe heart rate (HR) variability and sudden changes of HR in short time. To succeed in the challenges, real-time measurement which requires a short window length is needed. As the window length decreases, however, increased main-lobe width (MLW) and sidelobe width (SLW) result errors in measuring HR. Unlike commonly used discrete Fourier transform (DFT), the proposed method is based on DCT, which improves the accuracy of measured HR even though the short window length is used for the real-time measurement of HR. We demonstrate that the DCT can give 2 times shorter MLW and SLW than the DFT can. To verify the proposed method, it is compared with well-known existing methods, arctangent demodulation and complex signal demodulation, which use the DFT. We measured HR using a 10.225-GHz continuous-wave Doppler radar. In each experiment, the window lengths of 3, 2, and 1.5 s were used to measure HR in real time. Experimental results show that the proposed method has lower mean and standard deviation of errors than the existing methods have.</P>

<P>A performance comparison of <TEX>$2 \times 2$</TEX> multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna arrays with different configurations and polarizations in a reverberation chamber (RC) is presented at the 28-GHz band. Eight types of antenna arrays are proposed according to different configurations and polarizations. The measured results of the antenna arrays show that they have similar antenna performance with respect to the same array size except for those concerning with the polarization. Based on these antenna arrays, we propose twelve cases of <TEX>$2 \times 2$</TEX> MIMO antenna arrays with dual-separated polarizations between top and bottom side. A 28-GHz channel sounder and a vector network analyzer were used to measure complex channel transfer functions at the specific position of the rotating mode stirrer in the RC. The proposed MIMO antenna arrays were measured in the RC without and with absorbers. To clarify the channel performance for each case, a wideband channel capacity is calculated from the measured result.</P>

<P>A theoretical model of a cylindrical ferrite resonator antenna with a dc magnetic bias, applied in the direction parallel to the antenna height, is proposed. HE11 delta mode splitting behavior caused by tensor nature of the permeability of a biased ferrite is investigated. The proposed model is validated through an experimental investigation of the HE11 delta mode antenna. This communication utilizes a Li-ferrite suitable for the antenna applications. The presented theory is shown to correlate well with the measured results. It is also found that HE11 delta mode splitting behavior of the antenna involves frequency and polarization, and bandwidth tuning performances. Therefore, the antenna is a good candidate for a multifunctional antenna.</P>

<P>To prevent potential hazards posed by fast-evolving drones, it is of importance to develop a radar system for drone detection. Frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radars are widely used for that purpose. Heterodyne architectures are preferred for them to mitigate dc offset errors. Having said that, FMCW radars suffer from permanent leakage from the transmitter into the receiver. The leakage phase noise raises the total noise floor and limits the radar sensitivity. Here, we propose a stationary point concentration (SPC) technique in order to overcome the challenges. The SPC technique concentrates the leakage phase noise on a stationary point to alleviate the impact of the noise. The technique can be realized using digital signal processing without additional hardware. The results show that the proposed technique significantly lowers the noise floor.</P>

<P>A low side-lobe substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW) antenna array is presented at the 28-GHz band using broadband unequal feeding network for millimeter-wave (mm-wave) handset devices. The ground-plane size of the proposed antenna is fixed to half of the size of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The antenna array has been implemented with a multilayer structure created by stacking three substrates and a copper plate. An 8-way SIW feeding network with broadband 4-stage T-junction dividers and a cavity-backed antenna are investigated to obtain broadband performance. The proposed unequal T-junction dividers with phase compensation are introduced and designed for various output ratios. Applying Taylor beam-pattern synthesis in the 8-way SIW feeding network, low side-lobe performance is achieved. The measured result of the fabricated antenna has 2.3 GHz bandwidth within S11 <; - 10 dB. The fabricated antenna can be performed with a gain up to 13.97 dBi with a low cross-polarization and symmetrical fan beam radiation patterns with low side-lobe levels. Most of the measured results are validated with the simulated results. The proposed antenna array provides low cost, broadband performance, and good radiation performances with low side-lobe levels for mm-wave handset devices.</P>

<P>Left-hand and right-hand circularly polarized (LHCP and RHCP) substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) antenna arrays are presented at the 28-GHz band for millimeterwave (mm-wave) applications. Two types of circularly polarized (CP) antenna elements are designed to achieve respective LHCP and RHCP performance. Eight-element LHCP and RHCP antenna arrays have been implemented with feeding networks and measured. Based on the measurement, the LHCP and RHCP antenna arrays have impedance bandwidths of 1.54 and 1.7 GHz within vertical bar S-11 vertical bar < -10 dB, whereas 3-dB axial-ratio bandwidths are 1.1 and 1.3 GHz, respectively. Each of the fabricated LHCP and RHCP antenna arrays is accomplished with a gain up to 13.09 and 13.52 dBi. Most of the measured results are validated with the simulated ones. The proposed CP antenna arrays can provide low-cost, broadband characteristics, and high-gain radiation performance with CP properties for mm-wave applications.</P>

With the development of information communication and network technologies, ubiquitous era that supports various services regardless of places and time has been advancing. The development of such technologies has a great influence on educational environments. As a result, e-learning concepts that learners use learning contents in anywhere and anytime have been proposed. The various learning contents authoring systems that consider the e-learning environments have also been developed. However, since most of the existing authoring systems support only PC environments, they are not suitable for various ubiquitous mobile devices. In this paper, we design and implement a contents authoring system based on learning activities for u-learning environments. Our authoring system significantly improves the efficiency for authoring contents and supports various ubiquitous devices as well as PCs.
