Correlations Between Fasciology and Yin Yang Doctrine

        Hui Tao,Mei-chun Yu,Hui-ying Yang,Rong-mei Qu,Chun Yang,Xin Zhou,Yu Bai,Jing-peng Wu,Jun Wang,Ou Sha,Lin Yuan 사단법인약침학회 2011 Journal of Acupuncture & Meridian Studies Vol.4 No.2

The aim of this study is to explore the correlations between fasciology and yin yang doctrine. Professor Yuan developed fasciology by three-dimensional reconstruction of connective tissue (fascia) in the trunk and limbs of the human body and tracing back to tissue origins in light of biological evolution and developmental biology. Fasciology states that the human body can be divided into two systems: the supporting-storing system and the functional system. This article elaborates on the roles of the two systems and their mutual relationship. The two systems are used to analyze the yin,the yang, and their relationship. The two systems are promoted but also restricted in different contexts. The supporting-storing system is formed by undifferentiated connective tissue and provides undifferentiated cells and nutrients for differentiated cells of the functional system. Thus, the supporting-storing system could be classified as quiet, similar to yin. The functional system continuously maintains the various functional activities of the human body. Thus, the functional system could be classified as active, similar to yang. In interpreting the yin yang doctrine from the point of view of fasciology, yin can be compared with the supporting-storing system and yang can be compared with the functional system.

Core prescription pattern of Chinese herbal medicine for depressive disorders in Taiwan: a nationwide population-based study

        Diem Ngoc Hong Tran,I-Hsuan Hwang,Fun-Jou Chen,Yuan-Pu Tseng,Ching-Mao Chang,Shih-Jen Tsai,Jen-Lin Yang,Ta-Peng Wu,Chung-Hua Hsu,Fang-Pey Chen,Yen-Ying Kung 한국한의학연구원 2021 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.10 No.3

Background: Depressive disorders (DD) affect not only mood and behavior but also various physical functions. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been shown to have some benefits in treating DD. However, one formula or one single herb might be not show high efficacy when used to treat depression. Thus, this study aimed to examine the core prescription pattern of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) among patients with DD in Taiwan as a reference for related research and clinical applications. Methods: All patients, who had been diagnosed with major depressive disorder or minor depression or dysthymia without any other baseline diseases and had at least one CHM outpatient clinical visit from 2002 to 2011, were extracted from three randomly sampled cohorts, namely the 2000, 2005 and 2010 cohorts of the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) of Taiwan. The collected data was analyzed to explore the patterns of herbal products. Results: There were 197,146 patients with a diagnosis of DD and of these 1806 subjects had only a diagnosis of DD and utilized CHM. The most common formula was Gan-Mai-Da-Zao-Tang (12.19%), while Suan-Zao-Ren (3.99%) was the most commonly prescribed single herb. The core pattern of prescriptions consisted of a combination of Gan-Mai-Da-Zao-Tang, Jia-Wei-Xiao-Yao-San, Chai-Hu-Jia-Long-Gu-Mu-Li-Tang, He-Huan-Pi, Yuan-Zhi and Shi-Chang-Pu. Conclusions: This study describes the CHM core prescription pattern used to treat patients in Taiwan with DD and it is a potential candidate for study in future pharmacological or clinical trials targeting DD.

A case study on safety integrity level analysis for shale gas station

        Yuan-Jian Yang,Chao Huang,Qiu-Yang Zhong,Hai-Jun Chen,Hong-Zhong Huang 대한기계학회 2021 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.35 No.12

Safety integrity level (SIL), as defined in IEC 61511, is a widely used safety performance measure for safety instrumented functions. Shale gas station is an important part of shale gas gathering and transportation system. To ensure the safety of its instrument system is of great significance to the safe and stable operation of the whole gathering and transportation system. This paper is motivated to conduct a case study on safety integrity analysis for shale gas station by using the layer of protection analysis method (LOPA). Firstly, the equipment under control (EUC) is identified. It is followed by the analysis of reaction reasons on safety instrumented function (SIF) from safety instrumented system (SIS). Finally, according to the identification of independent protection layer (IPL) and probability of failure on demand (PFD), the SIL analysis for every SIF is carried out. The result shows that the SIS of this shale gas station has reached the required of SIL and there is no need for further increase in SIS. Utilizing this method can accurately determine the reliability of the SIS in the station, and it can also be the reference of safe operation for this shale gas station.

      • A Quad-band Compact Diversity Antenna for Mobile Handset Devices

Yang Yang,Yuan’An Liu,Fan Wu 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.9 No.6

A quad-band planar compact diversity antenna for mobile handset devices is presented in this paper. The antenna unit of the proposed antenna is a “paperclip” structure consisted by an inverted L-shaped strip and a C-shape meander branch connected by a metallic via hole. The radiation structure of the proposed antenna is compact, 15.6×25mm2. Simulated and measured results show that the proposed antenna can operate at 0.915/2.45/3.5/5.8GHz WSNs, WLAN and LTE bands with quasi-monopole radiation patterns. Two diversity antenna geometry are compared and discussed in the overall size of 60mm × 100mm substrate similar like the size of modern mobile handset devices. A low Enveloped Correlation Coefficient(ECC) characteristic are achieved by the optimized diversity design. Together with compact volume, the proposed diversity antenna is a good candidate for mobile handset device applications.

CNC Corner Milling Parameters Optimization Based on Variable-Fidelity Metamodel and Improved MOPSO Regarding Energy Consumption

        Yang Yang,Yuan Wang,Qianfeng Liao,Jiongliang Pan,Junyu Meng,Hao Huang 한국정밀공학회 2022 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.9 No.4

In the corner milling process, processing energy consumption is a very important objective, since the energy efficiency of CNC machine is barely above 14.8%. Meanwhile, the excessive processing temperature will increase the thermal deformation of the product and leads to quality decline. Improper process parameters will lead to unnecessary high temperature and energy consumption. By optimizing the process parameters, the appropriate temperature and Specific Energy Consumption can be obtained. This study investigated into modeling Specific Energy Consumption and temperature in corner milling process using variable-fidelity metamodels. The adopted variable-fidelity metamodels are constructed by Hierarchical Kriging, in which 48 sets of low-fidelity data obtained from the AdvantEdge software simulation are used to reflect the trends of the metamodels, and 16 sets of high-precision data obtained from physical experiments are used to calibrate the trends. The experimental cost is reduced and the prediction accuracy is increased by making full use of both sets of data. An improved K-means Multi-objective Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm was adopted and applied on the multi-objective corner milling parameters optimization problem to find satisfactory specific energy consumption and temperature. The obtained Pareto solutions can provide guidance for selecting process parameters according to different requirements, such as reducing energy consumption or temperature.

Post-quantum identity-based authenticated multiple key agreement protocol

        Yang Yang,Hongji Yuan,Linbo Yan,Yinglan Ruan 한국전자통신연구원 2023 ETRI Journal Vol.45 No.6

Authenticated multiple key agreement (AMKA) protocols provide participants with multiple session keys after one round of authentication. Many schemes use Diffie-Hellman or authenticated key agreement schemes that rely on hard integer factorizations that are vulnerable to quantum algorithms. Lattice cryptography provides quantum resistance to authenticated key agreement protocols, but the certificate always incurs excessive public key infrastructure management overhead. Thus, a lightweight lattice-based secure system is needed that removes this overhead. To answer this need, we provide a two-party lattice- and identity-based AMKA scheme based on bilateral short integer or computational bilateral inhomogeneous small integer solutions, and we provide a security proof based on the random oracle model. Compared with existing AMKA protocols, our new protocol has higher efficiency and stronger security.

      • CHEK2 1100delC Variant and Breast Cancer Risk in Caucasians: A Meta-analysis Based on 25 Studies with 29,154 Cases and 37,064 Controls

Yang, Yuan,Zhang, Fan,Wang, Yang,Liu, Sheng-Chun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.7

Links between the CHEK2 1100delC heterozygote and breast cancer risk have been extensively explored. However, both positive and negative associations with this variant have been reported in individual studies. For a detailed assessment of the CHEK2 1100delC heterozygote and breast cancer risk, relevant studies published as recently as May 2012 were identified using PUBMED and EMBASE and selected using a priori defined criteria. The strength of the relationship between the CHEK2 1100delC variant and breast cancer risks was assessed by odds ratios (ORs) under the fixed effects model. A total of 29,154 cases and 37,064 controls from 25 case-control studies were identified in this meta-analysis. The CHEK2 1100delC heterozygote was more frequently detected in cases than in controls (1.34% versus 0.44%). A significant association was found between CHEK2 1100delC heterozygote and breast cancer risk (OR=2.75, 95% CI: [2.25, 3.36]). The ORs and CIs were 2.33 (95% CI: [1.79, 3.05]), 3.72 (95% CI: [2.61, 5.31]) and 2.78 (95% CI: [2.28, 3.39]) respectively in unselected, family, early-onset breast cancer subgroups. The CHEK2 1100delC variant could be a potential factor for increased breast cancer risk in Caucasians. However, more consideration is needed in order to apply it to allele screening or other clinical work.

Investigation on aerodynamics and active flow control of a vertical axis wind turbine with flapped airfoil

        Yang Yang,Chun Li,Wanfu Zhang,Xueyan Guo,Quanyong Yuan 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.4

A 2D unsteady numerical simulation with dynamic and sliding meshing techniques was conducted to solve the flow around a threeblade Vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT). The circular wakes, strip-like wakes and the shedding vortex structures interact with each other result in an extremely unstable performance. An airfoil with a trailing edge flap, based on the NACA0012 airfoil, has been designed for VAWT to improve flow field around the turbine. Strategy of flap control is applied to regulate the flap angle. The results show that the flapped airfoil has an positive effect on damping trailing edge wake separation, deferring dynamic stall and reducing the oscillating amplitude. The circular wake vortices change into strip vortices during the pitch-up interval of the airfoils. Examination of the flow details around the rotating airfoil indicates that flap control improves the dynamic stall by diminishing the trend of flow separation. Airfoil stall separation has been suppressed since the range of nominal angle of attack is narrowed down by an oscillating flap. Vortices with large intensity over rotational region are reduced by 90 %. The lift coefficient hysteresis loop of flapped airfoil acts as an O type, which represents a more stable unsteady performance. With flap control, the peak of power coefficient has increased by 10 % relative to the full blade VAWT. Obviously, the proposed flapped airfoil design combined with the active flow control significantly has shown the potential to eliminate dynamic stall and improve the aerodynamic performance and operation stability of VAWT.

        Wen, Yuan-Yuan,Pan, Xiong-Fei,Loh, Marie,Tian, Zhi,Yang, Shu-Juan,Lv, Si-Han,Huang, Wen-Zhi,Huang, He,Xie, Yao,Soong, Richie,Yang, Chun-Xia Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.5

Objective: Gastric cancer remains a major health problem in China. We hypothesized that XRCC1 Arg194Trp and ADPRT Val762Ala may be associated with risk. Methods: We designed a multicenter 1:1 matched case-control study of 307 pairs of gastric cancers and controls between October 2010 and August 2011. XRCC1 Arg194Trp and ADPRT Val762Ala were sequenced, and demographic data as well as lifestyle factors were collected using a self-designed questionnaire. Results: Individuals carrying XRCC1 Trp/Trp or Arg/Trp variant genotype had a significantly increased risk of gastric cancer (OR, 1.718; 95% CI, 1.190-2.479), while the OR for ADPRT Val762Ala variant genotype (Ala/Ala or Val/Ala) was 1.175 (95% CI, 0.796-1.737). No gene-gene or gene-environment interactions were found. In addition, family history of cancer and drinkers proportion were higher among cases than among controls (P<0.05). Conclusions: XRCC1 194 Arg/Trp or Trp/Trp genotype, family history of cancer, and drinking are suspected risk factors of gastric cancer from our study. Our findings may offer insight into further similar large gene-environment and gene-gene studies in this region.
