The protective effects of BMSA1 and BMSA5-1-1 proteins against Babesia microti infection

The intracellular parasite Babesia microti is among the most significant species causinghuman babesiosis and is an emerging threat to human health worldwide. Unravelling thepathogenic molecular mechanisms of babesiosis is crucial in developing new diagnosticand preventive methods. This study assessed how priming with B. microti surface antigen1 (BHSA 1) and seroreactive antigen 5-1-1 (BHSA 5-1-1) mediate protection against B. microti infection. The results showed that 500 µg/ml rBMSA1 and rBMSA5-1-1 partiallyinhibited the invasion of B. microti in vitro by 42.0±3.0%, and 48.0±2.1%, respectively. Blood smears revealed that peak infection at 7 days post-infection (dpi) was 19.6%,24.7%, and 46.7% in the rBMSA1, rBmSA5-1-1, compared to the control groups (healthymice infected with B. microti only), respectively. Routine blood tests showed higher whiteblood cell, red blood cell counts, and haemoglobin levels in the 2 groups (BMSA1 andBMSA5 5-1-1) than in the infection control group at 0–28 dpi. Moreover, the 2 groups hadhigher serum interferon-γ, tumor necrosis factor-α and Interleukin-17A levels, and lowerIL-10 levels than the infection control group throughout the study. These 2 potential vaccine candidate proteins partially inhibit in vitro and in vivo B. microti infection and enhancehost immunological response against B. microti infection.
중국어 落 류 동사의 의미지도 연구 : 이동동사 掉 , 落 을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 유의어인 掉 와 落 을 중심으로 의미 확장 양상을 비교 분석하여 개념 간의 밀접도에 근거하여 개념공간을 구축하고 의미지도를 그려보았다. ‘落 류 동사는 공간-시간-추상화 , 물리적-사회적-심리적 으로 의미 확장을 한다. 어원이 다른 ‘掉 와 ‘落 의 의미 변화 연속체를 살펴보면 ‘落 는 기점, 과정, 종점을 직시적 중심으로 하며 ‘掉 에 비하여 훨씬 많은 의미 확장이 일어난다. 형태-통사 변화 연속체를 살펴보면 하향성(移落)을 나타내는 동사에서 수평성(移位)을 나타내는 동사로 사용되고, ‘V掉 에서는 보어, ‘V落 에서는 보어, 조사, 개사로 허화되었다. 본고에서는 落 류 동사의 의미 확장과 문법화 경로를 일목요연하게 보여주어 사전 편찬 및 중국어 교육현장에서 필요한 언어자료로 유용하게 활용할 수 있을 것이다. This study comparatively analyzed the aspect of semantic extension focusing on synonyms 掉 and 落 , and then established the conceptual space and drew the semantic map based on the closeness between concepts. The verbs in the group of ‘落 show the semantic extension like space-time-abstraction and physical-social-psychological . In the results of examining the semantic change continuum of ‘掉 and ‘落 with different derivation, ‘落 takes the starting point, process, and end as the presentive center, and also has a lot more semantic extensions than ‘掉 . Examining the morphologic-syntactic change continuum, it was used as a verb meaning the horizontality from a verb meaning the downwardness. It was shown as a complement in ‘V掉 , and also shown as a complement, postposition, and preposition in ‘V落 . This thesis clearly shows the semantic extension and grammaticalization path of verbs in a group of 落 , which could be usefully used as a linguistic material necessary for the compilation of dictionaries and the field of Chinese language education.

The somatic Sertoli cells play an essential role in testis determination and spermatogenesis by providing nutrition and structural support. In the current study, we report on the novel Ankrd7 gene that contains five ankyrin repeat domains. This gene was specifically expressed in Sertoli cells and was regulated in a maturation-dependent manner. Its expression was restricted to testicular tissue, and its mRNA could be detected in testes at as early as 14 dpp (days post partum) using RT-PCR analysis. In both testicular tissue sections and in vitro cultured Sertoli cells, the Ankrd7 protein was localized to the nucleus of the Sertoli cell. Immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry investigations showed that the protein was detectable in testicular tissues at 20 dpp, at which time Sertoli cells were gradually differentiating into their mature cellular form. These results suggest that Ankrd7 is probably involved in the process of Sertoli cell maturation and in spermatogenesis.
Dynamic analysis for gene expression profiles of endothelial colony forming cells under hypoxia

Previous studies have shown that endothelial colony forming cells (ECFCs) play an important role in the neovascularization of tumors. Hypoxia is emphasized as an important promoter of angiogenesis. However, little is known about genome-wide transcriptional regulation of ECFCs under hypoxic conditions. In this study, gene expression profiles in ECFCswere evaluated under hypoxic conditions for 3, 6, 12, 24,and 48 h, using Affymetrix U133 plus 2.0 chip microarray. 1,103 hypoxia-regulated genes were filtered, with 379(0.693 %) genes up-regulated and 724 (1.32 %) genes downregulated. Most of the up-regulated genes were involved in apoptosis, cell proliferation, or metabolic processes, while most of the down-regulated genes were involved in cell adherence,cell cycle,DNAandmRNAmetabolic processes,multi-cellular organism development, protein metabolic processes, response to stress, signal transduction, or transport. This expression profile is ECFC-specific, because it is significantly different from those of endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells under hypoxic conditions. Moreover, hypoxia-regulated apoptosis in ECFCs is mainly related with the mitochondrial pathway (p53-BAX-Caspase-9) and the death receptor pathway (FASCaspase-8-Caspase-3). MAPK pathway is activated in ECFCs under hypoxic conditions. The differentially expressed genes of ECFCs were identified under hypoxic conditions, and related with cell apoptosis, cell cycle and MAPK pathways, shedding light on the mechanism of angiogenesis.

漢語是華廈的精神家園也是人類的共同財富, 傳播漢字是人類對世界文明的責任. 漢字的出現是前人對世界認識結果的符號化表現形式, 因此漢字的造字受前人認知規律的支配從而形成造字理據. 然而, 對于敎師來說, 漢字敎學是一個依據漢字造字理據, 重溫前人認識, 最後讓學習者直接獲取前人的認知結果從而形成創造力的過程. 當今世界的漢字敎學未能自覺地遵守漢字造字理據, 敎學方法機械, 效果欠佳, 給世界造成了“漢字難”的錯覺. 本文從中國大陸的漢字敎學現狀出發, 展現漢字敎學低效現象幷分析其原因, 提出敎學中對漢字理據的尊重. 本文著重從中國哲學觀, 政治制度, 經濟條件等方面來認識漢字造字理據的存在意義幷對漢字敎學提出見解, 爲世界範圍內的漢字敎學提出思考, 力求達到趣味, 高效的漢字敎學效果. The Chinese words have become the treasure shared by all people of the world so the teaching of them means the spreading of civilization in the world. In fact, the Chinese words represent the cognitive results from the prehistoric Chinese people. In the classrooms, the instructors will help the learners to accept the results for their originality in future by following the path of the Chinese word-formation. Unfortunately, the teachers have applied the simple and tedious methods with little attention to the philosophy of the Chinese word-formation. Form more efficient teaching, the authors introduce the existence of the philosophy of the Chinese word-formation and discusses the visualization in the words. Because the philosophy of the Chinese word-formation is an unveiled field in the Chinese researches, the paper directs the understanding from the Chinese philosophy, political system and ancient life in history. Finally, the authors suggest the three ways to the Chinese teaching guided by the philosophy of the word-formation.
