The diagnostic requirements were suggested and explained regarding the systems of differentiation of symptoms and signs in the third year study of standardization and unification of the terms and conditions used for diagnosis in oriental medicine. The systems were as follows : - analyzing and differentiating of epidemic febrile disease - analyzing and differentiating in accordance with the Sasang constitution medicine based on four-type recognition - differentiation of disease according to pathological changes of Chong and Ren channels - standards for diagnosis of women's disease - standards for diagnosis of children's disease - standards for diagnosis of motor and sensor disturbance (-muscle. born, joint, etc.) - standards for diagnosis of neuropsychiatric disease - standards for diagnosis of five sense organ disease - standards for diagnosis of external disease The indivisual diagnosis pattern was arranged by the diagnostic requirements in the following order : another name, notion of diagnosis pattern, index of differentiation of symptoms and signs, the main point of diagnosis, analysis of diagnosis pattern, discrimination of diagnosis pattern, prognosis, a way of curing a disease, prescription, herbs in common use, disease appearing the diagnosis pattern, documents. The standards for diagnosis of each disease was arranged by the diagnostic requirements in the following order : another name, notion of disease, the main point of diagnosis, analyzing and differentiating of disease, analysis of disease, discrimination of disease, prognosis, a way of curing and prescription of disease, disease in western medicine appearing the disease in oriental medicine, documents.

Sodium silicate, SS, Na2SiO3, is known as water glass or liquid glass. It possesses a number of biological activities, especially in improvement of cell growth.However, there were few reports on effects of the SS on an immune system have been reported so far. In this study, we investigated the immunostimulant effects of SS in mice. A total of 20 male ICR mice, eight-week-old, were divided into four groups, five mice for each group, and this experiment was duplicated. Animals were fed with the tap water containing 0%, 1%, 2% and 3% sodium silicate for two weeks. After the animals had been sacrificed, spleen, spleen, thymus,and serum were obtained. Complete blood cell, CBC, counts and white blood cell, WBC, differ-rential counts in blood have been performed using an automatic hematology analyzer. Cytokines, IL-2, IL-4, INF- α, levels in spleen, thymus, and serum were measured using commercial ELISA assay kits. SS, 2%, as drinking water increased phagocytic activity by approximately 60% compared with the control. Levels of IL-2, IL-4, and TNF- α levels in spleen, thymus, and serum were not changed by SS treatments. However, IFN- γ in thymus showed a decrease in the 3% SS group compared with the control group. No significant differences in CBC counts and WBC differential counts were observed among experi-mental groups. These results suggest that SS treatments by drinking do not cause any toxicity and do not modulate immune response as determined by cytokine levels in mice.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Strontium titanate (SrTiO<SUB>3</SUB>) powder has been prepared through a liquid-phase precursor (LPP) method involving strontium (Sr) acetate and different types of titanium (Ti) raw materials; the powders were synthesized using two kinds of lactate complex and TiCl<SUB>3</SUB>. The effects from the addition of the Ti raw materials to the nanostructure and the resultant synthetic efficiency were investigated in this work for the development of nano-sized particles and a low firing temperature. The morphology and size of the SrTiO<SUB>3</SUB> nanopowders were controlled by adjusting the Sr- and Ti-precursor concentrations and the selection of the type of Ti raw material. The most-effective raw material was selected and then used as the basis for the attainment of the results in accordance with the ratio. Using X-ray diffraction (XRD), phase analyses of the samples calcined at different temperatures and compositions were performed. SEM was used for the characterization of the morphologies of the raw materials and reaction products, and they varied from ~25nm to ~50nm.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Various thermo-responsive polymers have been developed for controlled drug delivery upon the local application of external heat. The development of thermo-responsive polymers with high biocompatibility and tunable thermo-sensitivity is crucial for safe and efficient therapeutic application. In this study, thermo-responsive drug carriers featuring tunable thermo-sensitivities were synthesized using biocompatible poly(<I>N</I>-vinyl caprolactam) (PVCL) and stop-flow lithography. The PVCL-based particles showed selective drug release depending on temperature, illustrating their feasibility for on-demand controlled drug delivery. The volume phase transition temperature (VPTT) of the PVCL-based particles can be adjusted to vary from room temperature to body temperature by controlling their monomer compositions. In addition, modulated drug release was achieved by constructing multicompartments of different thermo-sensitivities within the PVCL particles. To accomplish thermo-responsive anticancer therapy, doxorubicin (DOX) was encapsulated into the PVCL particles as an anticancer drug. The DOX-loaded PVCL particles exhibited both thermo-responsive drug release and anticancer activity. 온라인 마켓플레이스의 신뢰 형성과 다차원적 제도적 메커니즘의 역할

Purpose This study was conducted to identify the multidimensional role of institutional mechanisms in the linear relationship of satisfaction, trust and repurchase intention, which are used as an important concept in the research of e-commerce. To this end, a research model was proposed by combining concepts which are the concept of perceived effectiveness of institutional mechanisms for overall e-commerce environment(e.g., PEEIM) and the concep of perceived effectiveness of institutional structures(e.g., PEIS) of a specific marketplace based on the social cognitive theory. Design/methodology/approach This study was conducted by dividing the data into two groups to identify institutional mechanisms and trust-building relationships according to the institutional contexts inherent in e-commerce. The institutional contexts were set up for the top two online companies and the bottom two online companies according to the results of the open market brand assessment from 2018 to 2019 in South Korea. Findings The result of this study found that PEIS had a direct impact on trust in both high and low groups respectively whereas PEEIM presented different paradoxical results in high and low groups. In the relationship between the satisfaction and the trust in the vendor of the high group, PEEIM showed negative moderating effects but in the relationship between the trust and the repurchase intention of the low group PEEIM showed positive moderating effects.
Clinical characteristics and prognostic factors for primary appendiceal carcinoma.

<P>AIM: Primary adenocarcinoma of the appendix is a rare malignancy. This study assessed prognostic factors affecting the clinical outcome in patients with appendiceal neoplasms. METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis of patients who had appendectomies between 1991 and 2007 at five centers in South Korea. RESULTS: Overall 55 patients (19 men, 36 women, median age 61 years) were identified. Of these, 37 (67.3%) were mucinous adenocarcinomas, 14 (25.5%) were intestinal-type adenocarcinomas, and four (7.3%) were signet ring cell carcinomas. The distribution of stages was: 26 (47.3%) with localized disease, five (9.1%) with regional disease, and 24 (43.6%) with distant metastatic disease. The overall 3- and 5-year survival rates among all patients were 72.2% and 64.0%, respectively, with 20 deaths during the follow-up period. In a multivariate analysis, high histological grade (hazard ratio [HR]vs low grade 15.7; P = 0.001) and pathological stage (distant vs loco-regional, HR 6.2; P = 0.021) were independent predictors of overall survival. Of the 34 patients who underwent curative resections of primary appendiceal carcinomas, the 3- and 5-year disease-free survival rates were 66.4% and 53.3%, respectively. The recurrence rate was higher in patients with regional lymph node metastasis (HR vs node negative disease 23.4; P = 0.005) and high-grade tumors (HR vs low grade 6.3; P = 0.029). Additionally, a right hemicolectomy reduced the risk of recurrence (HR vs lesser procedures 0.05; P = 0.005). CONCLUSION: High tumor grade and advanced stage were significantly predictive of poor survival outcome in patients with primary appendiceal carcinomas.</P>

Recently, biological researches are required to deal with a large scale of data. While scientists used classical experimental approaches for researches in the past, it is possible to get more sophisticated observations easily with convergence of information technologies and biology. The study on diseases is one of the most important issues of the life science. Conventional services and databases provide users with information such as classification of diseases, symptoms, and medical treatments through the Web.. However, it is hard to connect or develop them for other new services because they have independent and different criteria. It may be a factor that interferes the development of biology. In this paper, we propose an integrated data structure for the disease databases. We also design and implement a novel directory system for diseases as an infrastructure for developing the new diseases services.
