        Background and Objectives: Gastric cancer is still the leading cause of cancer death in Korea, and surgery remains the only method of treatment that offers the potential for a cure. Purpose: The aims of this study are to examine the outcome of the patients with gastric adenocarcinoma who underwent curative resection and to identify the prognostic factors leading to improved survival rates in these patients. Materials and Methods: The medical records of 278 patients with gastric adenocarcinoma, treated curatively at the Chosun University Hospital between January 1990 and December 1994, were reviewed retrospectively from January 2000 to March 2000. Follow-up was obtained for 250 patients(89.9%). The survival rates were calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method, and the significance of differences between patient factors(age and sex), tumor factors(location, size, gross type, tumor depth, lymph node metastasis, and stage) and treatment factors(operation method and reconstruction type) were evaluated statistically by the log-rank test. Results: The overall five-year survival probability was 59.6%. There was no survival difference according to age and sex. The 5-year survival rates according to the tumor depth were 97.0% for Tl, 74.5% for T2, 39.6% for T3, and 23.1% for T4(p=0.0000); to the lymph node metastasis were 81,4% for N0, 51.9% for N1, and 21.2% for N2(p=0.0000); to the TNM stage were 96.7% for stage I a, 79.5% for stage I b, 68.8% for stage II, 52.9% for stage III a, 25.9% for stage III b, and 7.5% for stage IV(p=0.0000). Other statistically significant differences were shown in tumor location, size, gross type, operation method, and reconstruction type after subtotal gastrectomy. Conclusion: The most definitive prognostic factors affecting the survival rate of gastric adenocarcinoma were tumor depth, lymph node metastasis, and tumor stage. The keys to successful outcome includes early diagnosis and curative resection with radical lymph node dissection at early stage as possible.

        In this paper, remote monitoring system for wind turbine is developed. The developed system consists of data acquisition for wind sensor, and monitoring for site environment. In order to accomplish effective monitoring, the system uses Datasocket, SMB, FTP, Web Server, and G Web Server. Two computer system - one is data acquisition computer using Windows-XP and the other is monitoring computer using UNIX - constraint the distribute system with individual tasks. By using this system, one can perform various monitoring and control tasks in Wind-Turbine application, efficiently.

Its customers represent every sector of the world s economy and every segment of the world s population The industry s competitive environment is undergoing fundamental change. Its development in major market is constrained by problems mused by overloaded airport and air traffic control systems and by concern about air transport s environmental impact. To meet growing demand, the industry is investing heavily in new technology and in modem aircraft. The airlines are improving upon outstanding standards of safety, efficiency and reliability and are continually reducing cost to the customer. At the same time the industry is constantly seeking to reduce its environmental impact and has regulurly improved its environmental performance over time. Air transport has consistently made optimal use of technology and has sponsored technological innovation - even though this has entailed major material and financial investment. Air traffic world-wide is growing by an average 5 percent each year. Current trends suggest that by the year 2005 its growth may double Should it grow to this extent, and if scientists predictions about global warming hold true, a number of conditions will need to be met; Quite apart from the major question of the ability o f the airways and airports to absorb forecast growth air transport will need to further improve its environmental record If air transport s impact on the environment is to be minimised, the industry must continually devote adequate resources to the protection of the environment and fully exploit the best available technology. The airlines are playing their part in cleaning up" the planet and in preserving and protecting its natural resources. However, they are concerned that governments and the public are not sufficiently aware of the world-wide economic loss which would result from an industry fettered by unnecessary constraints. Stringent environmental standards entail heavy airline investment, which is eventually passed on to passengers in higher fares.

        The world-famous corporation in various fields of industry established their business and maintained the fame by their own steady hit goods. Steady hit good means the product which ensures high demand and gives high sales, profits for a long time to the corporation after entering to the market successfully. This study is aimed at analyzing steady hit goods, and inducing out their success factors. As the result of analysis of the three cases of steady hit goods in the domestic food and drink industry, several common, and discriminative success factors were derived. For general success factors of steady hit goods, future studies are needed in more number of cases in all the industries.

      • 연료정책에 따른 대기오염 개선효과 분석에 관한 연구 : 대구지역을 중심으로

        청정연료와 저유황유의 공급확대에 따른 대구지역의 대기오염 개선효과를 분석하기 위하여 향후 1996, 2001년 대구지역의 유종별, 소비부문별 소비량을 추정하고 이에 따른 아황산가스, 분진, 질소산화물 및 일산화탄소에 대한 배출량을 각각 산정하였다. 특히 향후 대구지역 대기중 아황산가스농도에 대하여 개정된 환경기준치의 달성가능성 여부를 연간 총배출량측면에서 검토한 결과 2001년의 아황산가스 배출량이 추정된 허용배출량 이하로 떨어질 것으로 나타나 저황유의 공급과 청정연료 사용의무화정책을 현재 계획대로 추진할 경우 아황산가스 농도는 대체로 환경기준을 충분히 달성할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. A study was carried out to evaluate the improvement of air quality in Taegu area in the years of 1996 and 2001 with the extended supply of cleaner fuels such as town gas and low sulfur fuel oil. The emission quantities of the air pollutants from the combustion of various fuel were estimated with respect to the sections of end-use in this area. With the implementation of the planned fuel policy to this area, the level of sulfur dioxide in the ambient air will satisfy the revised ambient air quality standard based on the yearly total quantity of the sulfur dioxide emission. If the fuel policy is implemented as scheduled, the attainability of the ambient air quality standard of sulfur dioxide will be possible as the total quantity of sulfur dioxide emission will be well below of that of the predicted value obtained under current fuel policy.

        The objective of this study was to develop an mathematical model which can take into account the effects of steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) on the flexural and shear behavior of a reinforced steel fibrous concrete beam(RSFC beam). The model developed on the basis of the nonlinear layered finite element method and the nonlinear programming technique was successfully able to find the necessary amount of steel fibers, tensile steels and comporessive steels(if any) to constitute and equivalent RSFC beam section compared to a given conventionally reinforced concrete beam in terms of equal flexural an shear strengths as well as ductility. Using the developed model. some parametric studies were also performed in order to examine the possible replacement of conventional reinforcement with steel fibers and consequently the changes in the amount of tension, compression, and shear reinforcement for the beam made of different reinforcement ratios and concrete compressive strengths.
