        In this paper, stair walking of small power biped robot is implemented by load sharing method of walking gait and adding body. Generally, in one foot standing, load is burdened to especial joint. Further, robot's foot is long steps and is lifted up high to go up stairs. So, especial joint is sometimes overloaded during walking and this makes walking impossible. This problem is solved in this paper using adding body, load sharing method and kick action. By this ways, stair walking of small power biped robot can be implemented without overload to joint.

      • 외국 소프트웨어의 한글지원을 위해 한글코드가 나아가야 할 방향연구

        We analyse Hangul codes of KS C 5601 which is currently standardized, Microsoft Hangul, and Unicode2.0 supported in the ISO 10646. First, there are many different codes in the KS C 5601 and we just analysed two important codes of it(completion type code and mixture type code). Second, we analysed Microsoft Hangul and pointed out some problems of it. Finally, we analysed Hangul parts of the Unicode2.0 in detail. After analysis, we study differences between KS C 5601 currently standardized and Unicode nationally standardized. As a conclusion, we have suggested the direction that Hangul code must follow.

        In this paper, design and construction of mobile robot is conducted and the error reduction and obstacle avoidance techniques is introduced. Up to now, in the design of most mobile robots, there are emphasis on the compensation of tracking errors using the additional sensors and guidance method, rather than the reduction of the tracking errors of motor itself and wheel errors. In this purpose, high performance motor and encoder are used for the driving actuator, and the acceleration/deceleration technic is introduced to reduce the driving errors. Also ultrasonic sensor performs obstacle avoidance, which is proved using the driving test.

        In this paper, a biped robot is designed and implemented, and walking tests are performed using a fast walking model. In order to embody the human joint structure, designed biped robot has each two degree of freedom attached to the pelvic, knee, and ankle . Using two motors for each knee makes it possible to have the same walking as human walking and fast walking. Also in joint controller, PID control algorithm may causes variation to the robot, which make the system unstable. Therefore, a PD controller is used to limit the vibrations as much as possible allowing steady state error to a certain extent.

        의약풍이 생체내로 흡수되는_파정에서 생리학적 인자 및 제제학적 인자들에 의해 생체이용률이 달라져 약물의 흡수과정을 연구함으로써 약물의 생체이용률을 예측하는 것이 가능하다. 그러나 제제학적 측면에서 용출시험과 흡수과정인. 장관막 투과도 나아가서 생체이용률간의 띤구가 미흡한 상태이다. 따라서 약물의 흡수과정을 연구하벼 생체이용률을 예측하기 위하여 장관막 투과도 및 혈중농도사이의 상관관계를 예견할 수 있는 모델을 개발하고자 1999년도 연구사업으로 고혈압치료제중 베타-차단약 (아테놀올, 메토프롤올, 프라프라놀꼴)을 선택하여 웅출시험과 장관막 투과도계수를 측정하여 사람의 흡수을을 예측할 수 있는 장관막 투파도 모델을 확림하였고, 2000년도에는 계속사업으로서 각 약물에 대한 횐쥐에서의 생체이용를 파라메타를 측정하고 1999년도 연구사업결과에서 얻은 장관막 투과도 시험결과를 가지고 생체이용률과의 상관섞을 구하고자 하였다. 각 베타-차단약을 경구 및 정맥투여하고 시간별로 채혈한 후 분리한 혈장으로부터 각 약물에 대한 EfLC를 이용한 분석준건을 확지하여 혈중농도를 측정하고 생체이용률 파라메타(AUC, Cma, Tme, 등)를 구하였다. 횐쥐의 소장을 이용하여 diffusion chamber 법으로 측정한 장관막 투과도계수와 각 생체이용률 파라미터 사이의 상관성을 구찬 결과 양호한 상관관계를 보였다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 통하여 약물의 특성에 따라 동물의 장관막 투도. 모델을 이용하여 사람의 생체이용률도 예측할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.       • Enhancing the Minority Discipline in the IT Industry: A Survey of Usability and User-Centered Design Practice

        <P> This article reports the results of a survey conducted in 2003 of 184 information technology (IT) development practitioners and 90 user interface (UI)/usability practitioners. The survey covered a broad range of issues including the respondents' profiles, current development environment, usability and user-centered design (UCD) adoption issues in Korean IT development environments, overall assessment of UCD/usability, and the most widely used methods and techniques. The results reveal various UCD/usability practices and problems in the IT industry. For both development practitioners and UI/usability practitioners, the most serious problems encountered in a project are the differences between output and customer requirements, as well as further requirements from customer, delays in a project schedule, and overages on project budgets. The degree of recognition of usability/UCD is higher than expected, but UCD/usability is not yet fully employed in the project, because 42% of respondents used usability/UCD. Profiles from UI/usability practitioners and projects show a relatively weak position and short HCI tradition in the Korean IT industry. This study is expected to provide both an empirical basis for usability and UCD planning, training, adoption, and execution in the IT industry of Korea and an important information source for many HCI practitioners outside Europe and the United States who struggle to introduce usability into their IT industries.</P>

      • A Checklist for Evaluating Usability of Digital Interactive Kiosk in Public Spaces

        Objective: The aim of this study is to develop a checklist for evaluating usability effectively of digital interactive kiosk that is influenced by environment, appearance, and users in public spaces. Background: Different types of digital interactive kiosk have various problems in several public spaces. However, there is no method to evaluate them effectively so far. Method: To do this, we apply heuristic evaluation method to develop a checklist for digital interactive kiosk. Above all, we reviewed a total of 134 usability principles from previous literatures and conducted a field investigation. Next, we screened out a total of 19 usability principles among them in terms of digital interactive kiosk and added an indispensable principle related to attribute of digital interactive kiosk. And then we redefined 20 usability principles. The screened principles are categorized into four groups systematically using card sorting method. Lastly, usability principles for each group are developed as the checklist items, so a total of 59 items are produced on a 7-point likert scale. Results: We evaluated different digital interactive kiosks currently in operation using developed checklist. As a result, we are gained the advantages and disadvantages of each digital interactive kiosk effectively. Conclusion: In this study, we developed a checklist that was optimized for evaluating usability of digital interactive kiosk in several public spaces. Application: The results could be expected to be utilized the guidelines for improving usability of the existing digital interactive kiosk and designing the futuristic digital interactive kiosk.

      • A Usability Checklist for the Usability Evaluation of Mobile Phone User Interface

        <P> In the last decade, the research of the usability of mobile phones has been a newly evolving area with few established methodologies and realistic practices that ensure capturing usability in evaluation. Thus, there exists growing demand to explore appropriate evaluation methodologies that evaluate the usability of mobile phones quickly as well as comprehensively. This study aims to develop a task-based usability checklist based on heuristic evaluations in views of mobile phone user interface (UI) practitioners. A hierarchical structure of UI design elements and usability principles related to mobile phones were developed and then utilized to develop the checklist. To demonstrate the practical effectiveness of the proposed checklist, comparative experiments were conducted on the usability checklist and usability testing. The majority of usability problems found by usability testing and additional problems were discovered by the proposed checklist. It is expected that the usability checklist proposed in this study could be used quickly and efficiently by usability practitioners to evaluate the mobile phone UI in the middle of the mobile phone development process.</P>
