THE BRUCK CONJECTURE AND ENTIRE FUNCTIONS SHARING POLYNOMIALS WITH THEIR k-TH DERIVATIVES
Feng Lu,Hongxun Yi 대한수학회 2011 대한수학회지 Vol.48 No.3
The purpose of this paper is twofold. The rst is to establish a uniqueness theorem for entire function sharing two polynomials with its k-th derivative, by using the theory of normal families. Meanwhile, the theorem generalizes some related results of Rubel and Yang and of Li and Yi. Several examples are provided to show the conditions are necessary. The second is to generalize the Bruck conjecture with the idea of sharing polynomial.
THE BRÜCK CONJECTURE AND ENTIRE FUNCTIONS SHARING POLYNOMIALS WITH THEIR κ-TH DERIVATIVES
Lu, Feng,Yi, Hongxun Korean Mathematical Society 2011 대한수학회지 Vol.48 No.3
The purpose of this paper is twofold. The first is to establish a uniqueness theorem for entire function sharing two polynomials with its ${\kappa}$-th derivative, by using the theory of normal families. Meanwhile, the theorem generalizes some related results of Rubel and Yang and of Li and Yi. Several examples are provided to show the conditions are necessary. The second is to generalize the Br$\"{u}$-ck conjecture with the idea of sharing polynomial.
Wind-induced vibration fragility of outer-attached tower crane to super-tall buildings: A case study
Yi Lu,Luo Zhang,Zheng He,Fan Feng,Feng Pan 한국풍공학회 2021 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.32 No.5
To gain insight into the wind-induced safety concerns associated with attached tower cranes during the construction of super-tall buildings, a 606 m level frame-core tube super-tall building is selected to investigate the wind-induced vibration response and fragility of an outer-attached tower crane at all stages of construction. The wind velocity time history samples are artificially generated and used to perform dynamic response analyses of the crane to observe the effects of wind velocity and wind direction under its working and non-working resting state. The adverse effects of the relative displacement response at different connection supports are also identified. The wind-resistant fragility curves of the crane are obtained by introducing the concept of incremental dynamic analysis. The results from the investigation indicate that a large relative displacement between the supports can substantially amplify the response of the crane at high levels. Such an effect becomes more serious when the lifting arm is perpendicular to the plane of the connection supports. The flexibility of super-tall buildings should be considered in the design of outer-attached tower cranes, especially for anchorage systems. Fragility analysis can be used to specify the maximum appropriate height of the tower crane for each performance level.
Global Power Transitions and Their Implications for the 21st Century
Yi Feng 인하대학교 국제관계연구소 2013 Pacific Focus Vol.28 No.2
This essay presents a theoretical approach toward war and peace, reviews basic conditions for world leadership, discusses four modes of global power transitions, illuminates the likely emergence of the future superpowers, and summarizes the differences and common interests between the United States, the incumbent world leader, and China, a potential contender for the global leadership in the 21st century. The theoretical background is powertransition theory, which predicts war when superpowers are close in power and peace when power preponderance exists. Power parity need be also considered in the context of common interests and preferences of superpowers. Conflict abates when the nations share fundamental rules of the game in world affairs. Four historical modes of transitions – co-dominion, deterrence, confrontation, and cooperation – were identified. Of the four historical transitions, each time, the challenger surpassed the hegemon in economic power, and deterrence and confrontation by the hegemon against the challenger did not prevent the challenger from assuming global leadership in the long term. Among the newly rising nations (BRICs), China is discussed as a potential contender for world leadership. The economic and financial interdependence between the United States and China is currently the driving force in their relations. It shapes their political arrangements, necessitating coordination and cooperation in policy issues. While economic collaboration and interdependence drive the relations between the two, they are not suffi-cient conditions for a peaceful transition, until their political and security relations are solidified and their preferences coalesce substantively.

<P>A template-engaged strategy is used to synthesize nanostructured metal phosphides with different compositions. Among the as-synthesized metal phosphides, nickel cobalt phosphides quasi-hollow nanocubes exhibit the best electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction in terms of lower overpotential and smaller Tafel slope in alkaline solution.</P>

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most diagnosed cancer worldwide. Healthcare resource constraints may predispose treatment delays. We aim to review existing literature on whether delayed treatment results in worse outcomes in HCC. PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, and Scopus were systematically searched from inception till December 2022. Primary outcomes were overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). Secondary outcomes included post-treatment mortality, readmission rates, and complications. Fourteen studies with a total of 135,389 patients (delayed n = 25,516, no delay n = 109,873) were included. Age, incidence of male patients, Child–Pugh B cirrhosis, and Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer Stage 0/A HCC were comparable between delayed and no delay groups. Tumor size was significantly smaller in delayed versus no delay group (mean difference, –0.70 cm; 95% confidence interval [CI]: –1.14, 0.26; p = 0.002). More patients received radiofrequency ablation in delayed versus no delay group (OR, 1.22; 95% CI: 1.16, 1.27; p < 0.0001). OS was comparable between delayed and no delay in HCC treatment (hazard ratio [HR], 1.13; 95% CI: 0.99, 1.29; p = 0.07). Comparable DFS between delayed and no delay groups (HR, 0.99; 95% CI: 0.75, 1.30; p = 0.95) was observed. Subgroup analysis of studies that defined treatment delay as > 90 days showed comparable OS in the delayed group (HR, 1.04; 95% CI: 0.93, 1.16; p = 0.51). OS and DFS for delayed treatment were non-inferior compared to no delay, but might be due to better tumor biology/smaller tumor size in the delayed group.
