The potential of Song's chiral oligoethylene glycol's (oligoEGs) as catalysts was explored in the enantioselective protonation of trimethylsilyl enol ethers in combination with alkali metal fluoride (KF and CsF) and in the presence of a proton source Highly enantioselective protonatigns of various silyl enol ethers of alpha-substituted tetralohes were achieved, producing chiral alpha-substituted-Jetralones in full conversion and with up to 99% ee. The established protocol was successfully exiended to the synthesis of biologically relevant chiral alpha-substituted chromanone and thiothromarione derivatives.

Organocatalytic Enantioselective Cycloetherifications Using a Cooperative Cation-Binding Catalyst
Jadhav, Amol P.,Oh, Jeong-A,Hwang, In-Soo,Yan, Hailong,Song, Choong Eui American Chemical Society 2018 ORGANIC LETTERS Vol.20 No.17

A highly enantioselective cycloetherification strategy for the straightforward synthesis of enantioenriched tetrahydrofurans, tetrahydropyrans, and oxepanes using Song’s cation-binding oligoEG catalyst and KF as the base is demonstrated. A wide range of ε-, ζ-, and η-hydroxy-α,β-unsaturated ketones were cyclized to the corresponding five-, six-, and seven-membered chiral oxacycles with high enantiopurity. This remarkably successful catalysis can be ascribed to systematic cooperative cation-binding catalysis in a densely confined supramolecular chiral cage generated in situ from the chiral catalyst, substrate, and KF.
[FIG OMISSION]

Structural motifs containing contiguous halide bearing stereocenters are common in natural products as well as bioactive molecules. A few successful examples have been reported in the area of asymmetric vicinal dihalogenation of alkenes for accessing dihalogenated products; in this report, an alternative generation method of contiguous halide-bearing stereocenters alpha, beta, gamma, delta relative to carbonyl group in excellent enantioselectivity is proposed by utilizing a Song's oligoEG catalyst-catalyzed asymmetric beta-elimination. According to this methodology, a wide range of anti-syn-trihalides and anti-syn-anti-tetrahalides with high levels of enantioselectivity were synthesized. The synthetic utility of the contiguous halide-bearing stereocenters was demonstrated by several transformations. The results of high-resolution mass spectrometry indicated that the favorable interaction between catalyst and one of the enantiomers of racemic contiguously multihalogenated ketone contributed to the original enantioselectivity of dehydrohalogenation. A deuterium kinetic isotope effect experiment revealed that this beta-elimination reaction proceeds by the E2 mechanism. This strategy opens a new pathway for the asymmetric synthesis of contiguous halide bearing stereocenters of great complexity.

During the Southern Song Dynasty,Intellectual started to actively participate in large-scale bridge construction activities, and to participate in two ways of capital and social impact to exert their influence. The growing in strength of Intellectual groups provided the main of undertaking public welfare. The shrinking of government's administrative capability provided the space for Intellectual to participate in bridge construction activities. Social concepts of "the rich" were criticized provided public opinion support for Intellectual participating in bridge construction. Buddhists Set an example for Intellectual to participate in the activities of a bridge construction. Intellectual involved in the construction of the bridge reflects the Intellectual 's concern for local affairs. Through participation in activities such as bridge construction Intellectual received favorable public opinion, but also accessed to a certain extent of the interpretation of Social Affairs dominance. This had become a sign of new growth of grass-roots social forces.

New composites of UiO-66 and graphene oxide (GO) were synthesized and tested as CO2 adsorbents atroom temperature. The materials and the parent composite components were characterized using X-raydiffraction (XRD), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), nitrogen adsorption–desorption isothermanalysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and FT-IR spectroscopy. The CO2 isotherms on theUiO-66/GO composites and the UiO-66 were measured by a static volumetric method separately. Experiments of multiple adsorption/desorption cycles were conducted to estimate reversibility of CO2on the UiO-66/GO. The results showed that the BET surface area of the composites was higher than thatof the parent UiO-66, and the adsorption capacities of CO2 on the composites were greatly higher thanthat on the UiO-66 sample. The composite UiO-66/GO-5 exhibited the maximum CO2 uptake of3.37 mmol/g at 298 K and 1 bar, which increased by 48% in comparison with that of the UiO-66, and wasmuch higher than those of the conventional activated carbons and the zeolites. The CO2 adsorptioncapacity was dependent on the BET surface area and the micropore volume of the composites. Finally, theadsorption/desorption cycle experiment revealed that the adsorption performance of UiO-66/GO-5 wasfairly stable, without noticeable degradation in the adsorption capacity of CO2 after 6 cycles. Therefore, this kind of composites has a potential application on CO2 capture technologies to mitigate globalwarming.

Powdery photocatalyst has shown great potential in wastewater treatment, yet the low reusability is stillits deficiency. In this work, we prepared magnetically recyclable lanthanum-nitrogen co-doped titania/CaFe2O4/diatomite (LN-TCD) ternary material by sol-gel technology. The photocatalytic activity of thismaterial was evaluated via the decomposition of antibiotic oxytetracycline and disinfection of bacteriaEscherichia coli under visible light. Charge transfer took place at the interface between titania andCaFe2O4, and improved the photocatalytic activity. The photodecomposition rate was accelerated by thehigh adsorption ability of substrate diatomite. The optimal preparation and experimental factors weredetermined, and the decomposition mechanism was proposed.

A Gram-positive, catalase- and oxidase-positive, strictly aerobic, endospore-forming rod bacterium, designated K3514T, was isolated from the leaves of Nicotiana tabacum. The strain was able to grow at temperatures of 8–40°C, pH 5.0–10.0 and NaCl concentrations of 0–7%. The predominant quinones (>30%) of this strain were MK-7(H2) and MK-7. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain K3514T was affiliated to the genus Lysinibacillus, with its closest relatives being Lysinibacillus mangiferihumi (98.3% sequence similarity), Lysinibacillus sphaericus (97.9% sequence similarity), Lysinibacillus fusiformis (97.4% sequence similarity), and Lysinibacillus xylanilyticus (97.3% sequence similarity). However, low levels of DNA-DNA relatedness values suggested that the isolate was distinct from the other closest Lysinibacillus species. Additionally, based on analysis of morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics, the isolate could be differentiated from the closest known relatives. Therefore, based on polyphasic taxonomic data, the novel isolate likely represents a novel species, for which the name Lysinibacillus tabacifolii sp. nov. and the type strain K3514T (=KCTC 33042T =CCTCC AB 2012050T) are proposed.
