      • Fluid Solid Coupling Analysis of Large Underground Oil Storage Caverns in Containment of Groundwater

        Yang Shang-Yang,Li Shu-Cai,Xue Yi-Guo,Zhang Qing-Song 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.11

Triaxial compression tests had been performed to determine the properties of the rock mass around unlining underground crude oil a storage cavern which was the first one in China. The execution situation of the tunnel project and the seepage law of groundwater were taken into account. The stress and the seepage field around the tunnel in different working states were simulated by applying Comsol around a underground crude oil storage caverns. According to the test results, it was found that the excavation process may arise the local damage. The extension of the loose zone induced by excavation ranged from 0 to 15.6 m, depending on the buried depth of the caverns. According to numerical simulation results, the crown settlement and stress concentration was depended on the buried depth and the water pressure distribution after excavation of the main cavity. This research results can provide the reference for analysis on the stability of the underground cavities under low stress level and on the water sealed underground petroleum storage rock caverns.

Toxicity of Mycotoxins from Contaminated Corn with or without Yeast Cell Wall Adsorbent on Broiler Chickens

        Shang, Q.H.,Yang, Z.B.,Yang, W.R.,Li, Z.,Zhang, G.G.,Jiang, S.Z. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2016 Animal Bioscience Vol.29 No.5

This study investigated the effects of feeds naturally contaminated with mycotoxins on growth performance, serum biochemical parameters, carcass traits, and splenic heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) mRNA expression levels in broiler chickens. The efficacy of yeast cell wall (YCW) adsorbent in preventing mycotoxicosis was also evaluated. Three hundred 1-d-old Arbor Acres broiler chicks were randomly allotted to 3 treatments in completely randomized design for 42 d. Each treatment group had 5 replicate pens with 20 birds. The treatments were as follows: i) basal diet (control), ii) naturally contaminated diet (NCD), and iii) NCD+0.2% YCW adsorbent (NCDD). The NCD decreased average daily gain (ADG) (p<0.01) of 0 to 21 d, 22 to 42 d, and 0 to 42 d, and increased feed conversion ratio (p<0.01) of 22 to 42 d and 0 to 42 d. Both the breast meat percentage and thigh meat percentage of the NCD group were significantly higher (p<0.01) than that of the control group on d 21. The NCD group showed significantly increased levels of triglycerides (p<0.05) and cholesterol (p<0.05) on both d 21 and d 42 compared to the control group. However, the NCD significantly reduced (p<0.01) the high-density lipoprotein (HDL) on d 42 compared to controls. Compared with the NCD, supplementation with YCW significantly improved (p<0.01) the ADG of 0 to 21 d and 0 to 42 d, and increased (p<0.01) concentrations of HDL on d 42, and on d 21, and triglycerides (p<0.05) on d 21 and d 42. Supplementation with YCW reduced (p<0.01) the breast meat percentage, the thigh meat percentage, the concentrations of cholesterol (p<0.01) and the low-density lipoprotein (p<0.05) on d 21, and improved (p<0.01) the splenic Hsp70 mRNA expression levels compared with the NCD group. The results of this study indicated that feeding NCD for 42 d had adverse effects on broiler chickens, and that YCW might be beneficial in counteracting the effects of mycotoxins.

Application of Compressive Sensing to Two-Dimensional Radar Imaging Using a Frequency-Scanned Microstrip Leaky Wave Antenna

Shang-Te Yang,Hao Ling 한국전자파학회JEES 2017 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.17 No.3

The application of compressive sensing (CS) to a radar imaging system based on a frequency-scanned microstrip leaky wave antenna is investigated. First, an analytical model of the system matrix is formulated as the basis for the inversion algorithm. Then, L1-norm minimization is applied to the inverse problem to generate a range-azimuth image of the scene. Because of the antenna length, the near-field effect is considered in the CS formulation to properly image close-in targets. The resolving capability of the combined frequency-scanned antenna and CS processing is examined and compared to results based on the short-time Fourier transform and the pseudo-inverse. Both simulation and measurement data are tested to show the system performance in terms of image resolution.

White light emitting diodes(LEDs) with good color rendering indices(CRI) and high luminous efficiencies by the encapsulation of mixed and double-deck phosphors

        Shang-Hui Yang,Jian-Shian Lin,Fuh-Shyang Juang,Ding-Chin Chou,Ming-Hua Chung,Chen-Ming Chen,Lung-Chang Liu 한국물리학회 2013 Current Applied Physics Vol.13 No.5

In this paper, white light emitting diodes (LEDs) with good color rendering indices (CRI) and high luminous efficiencies have been fabricated by the encapsulation of mixed and double-deck phosphors. Experimental results revealed that white LEDs with the encapsulation of double-deck phosphors exhibited better CRI and higher luminous efficiencies than those with the encapsulation of mixed phosphors because no secondary excitation took place. The hue, CRI, and luminous efficiencies of white LEDs with double-deck phosphors under 200 mA were CIEx,y =(0.357, 0.348), 90, and 62.3 lm/W,respectively while the hue, CRI, and luminous efficiencies of white LEDs with mixed phosphors under 200 mA were CIEx,y = (0.366, 0.354), 89, and 56.5 lm/W, respectively.

The inhibitory effect of pyrogallol on tyrosinase activity and structure: Integration study of inhibition kinetics with molecular dynamics simulation

        Xiong, Shang-Ling,Lim, Gyu Tae,Yin, Shang-Jun,Lee, Jinhyuk,Si, Yue-Xiu,Yang, Jun-Mo,Park, Yong-Doo,Qian, Guo-Ying Elsevier 2019 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF BIOLOGICAL MACROMOLECULES Vol.121 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Pyrogallol is naturally found in aquatic plant and has been proposed as a substrate of tyrosinase. In this study, we evaluated the dual effect of pyrogallol on tyrosinase as an inhibitor in the presence of L‑DOPA simultaneously via integrating methods of enzyme kinetics and computational molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Pyrogallol was found to be a reversible inhibitor of tyrosinase in the presence of L‑DOPA and its induced mechanism was the parabolic non-competitive inhibition type (<I>IC</I> 50 = 0.772 ± 0.003 mM and <I>K</I> i = 0.529 ± 0.022 mM). Kinetic measurements by real-time interval assay showed that pyrogallol induced rapid inactivation process composing with slight activations at the low dose. Spectrofluorimetry studies showed that pyrogallol mainly induced regional changes in the active site of tyrosinase accompanying with hydrophobic disruption at high dose. The computational MD simulations further revealed that pyrogallol could interact with several residues near the tyrosinase active site pocket such as HIS61, HIS85, HIS259, ASN260, HIS263, VAL283, and ALA296. Our study provides insight into the mechanism by which hydroxyl group composing pyrogallol inhibit tyrosinase and pyrogallol is a potential natural anti-pigmentation agent.</P>

      • Analysis of the peptides detected in atopic dermatitis and various inflammatory diseases patients-derived sera

        Yin, Shang-Jun,Cho, Ick-Hyun,Yang, Hee Seung,Park, Yong-Doo,Yang, Jun-Mo Elsevier 2018 International journal of biological macromolecules Vol.106 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Serum proteomics has been applied for the discovery and analysis of biomarkers related to human disease. Serum is an optimal source to identify proteins derived from diseased-tissue compartments. We recently established an integrative method to analyze highly basic proteins that remain unresolved by the general 2D-PAGE method. In this follow-up study, we successfully detected several disease-associated proteins from sera samples obtained from patients with atopic dermatitis (AD). After proteomic analyses, target proteins were validated from AD patient-derived sera using ELISA or Western blotting methods We detected zinc finger CCHC domain containing 10 (ZCCHC10), peptidoglycan recognition protein L (PGRP-L), kininogen, α-1-antitrypsin, and hornerin proteins that are dysregulated in AD patient sera samples, which suggest effective approaches to methodologically analyze the serum proteome. Thus, the integrated proteomic method approach described here could be applicable for the detection of proteins associated with other human diseases. Our present study provides new insights into optimized serum proteomic techniques to understand systemic events of AD.</P>

      • Air pollution and hospital admissions for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: are their potentially sensitive groups?

        Tsai, Shang-Shyue,Yang, Ya-Hui,Liou, Saou-Hsing,Wu, Trong-Neng,Yang, Chun-Yuh Techno-Press 2012 Advances in environmental research Vol.1 No.1

Recent studies showed that air pollution is a risk factor for hospitalization for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, there is limited evidence to suggest which subpopulations are at higher risk from air pollution. This study was undertaken to examine the modifying effect of specific secondary diagnosis (including hypertension, diabetes, pneumonia, congestive heart failure) on the relationship between hospital admissions for COPD and ambient air pollutants concentrations. Hospital admissions for COPD and ambient air pollution data for Taipei were obtained for the period from 1999-2009. The relative risk of hospital admissions for COPD was estimated using a case-crossover approach. None of the secondary diagnosis we examined showed much evidence of effect modification.
