By adopting regression and time series analysis, this article tries to quantify people’s enthusiasm towards beauty based on sales performance of cosmetics product in previous years in China. The basic assumption in this paper is that people’s attitude towards beauty is positively associated with their purchase behavior of cosmetics product.

The large vertical centrifugal pump is the core power equipment for longdistance water division and large-scale irrigation projects. The power of the matching motor can reach 40 MW. In view of reducing the operating energy consumption of this kind of pump, the efficiency under the design condition was taken as the optimization objective, and a matching optimization on hydraulic components was proposed in this research. The optimization process was divided into two stages. The first stage focused on improving the configuration of the vane diffuser. In the second stage, the Plackett-Burman test design was used to screen out the optimization design variables of the vane diffuser and the volute, the optimal Latin hypercube sampling method was adopted to generate 106 sample cases, and an automatic numerical simulation optimization platform was built. Then, different approximate models were employed to construct the relationship between the optimization design variables and the objective function, and their fitting accuracy and robustness were compared. Finally, the optimal design parameters were determined by particle swarm optimization, and entropy production theory was used to analyze the internal flow pattern of the model before and after optimization. Results showed that D 3 , b 4 , β 3 , and S 8 have the greatest impact on the hydraulic efficiency of the pump. The multilayer backpropagation neural network has a higher fitting accuracy and better robustness compared with the other three approximate models. The efficiency of the optimized model under the design condition is increased by 4.22 %, reaching 90.82 %. Reducing the number of layers and vanes of the diffuser and improving the matching of hydraulic components can dramatically improve the hydraulic performance and hump characteristics of large vertical centrifugal pumps. Entropy production theory is a reliable approach to visualizing flow loss. The turbulent flow dissipation in the vane diffuser can be reduced the most after optimization.

As an important nonlinear filter theory, particle filter is a heated issue in domestic and foreign researches. The option of importance density is one of the key steps of particle filter algorithm. The proper option of importance density can minish the negative influence of filter algorithm caused by degeneracy problem. This paper introduces several widely-used options of importance density systemically, and analyzes their features and applied perspectives respectively. The paper also advances a comprehensive method of importance density, analyzes its technical features, explores the adjudgement and improvement of this method based on various performance, and finally puts forward the necessary further study according to the engineer requirements.

Currently, the systems for culturing buffalo spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) in vitro are varied, and their effects are still inconclusive. In this study, we compared the effects of culture systems with undefined (foetal bovine serum) and defined (KnockOut Serum Replacement) materials on the in vitro culture of buffalo SSC-like cells. Significantly more DDX4- and UCHL1-positive cells (cultured for 2 days at passage 2) were observed in the defined materials culture system than in the undefined materials system (p < 0.01), and these cells were maintained for a longer period than those in the culture system with undefined materials (10 days vs. 6 days). Furthermore, NANOS2 (p < 0.05), DDX4 (p < 0.01) and UCHL1 (p < 0.05) were expressed at significantly higher levels in the culture system with defined materials than in that with undefined materials. Induction with retinoic acid was used to verify that the cultured cells maintained SSC characteristics, revealing an SCP3+ subset in the cells cultured in the defined materials system. The expression levels of Stra8 (p < 0.05) and Rec8 (p < 0.01) were significantly increased, and the expression levels of ZBTB16 (p < 0.01) and DDX4 (p < 0.05) were significantly decreased. These findings provided a clearer research platform for exploring the mechanism of buffalo SSCs in vitro.

Phenolic composition and nutritional attributes of diaphragma juglandis fructus (Djf) and walnut shells (Ws) were investigated. Phenolic acids, hydroxybenzoic acid, isoflavone, and flavone were identified in the free phenolic fractions (FPFs) of both Djf and Ws. Bound phenolic fractions were less than FPFs both in content and diversity. The soluble dietary fiber contents of Djf and Ws were 25.56 g/100 g and 9.5 g/100 g, respectively. The contents of unsaturated fatty acids (1912.28 mg/kg and 9137.56 mg/kg, respectively) were significantly higher than that of saturated fatty acid both in Djf and Ws. The content of essential amino acids in Djf (9.67 mg/g) was significantly higher than that in Ws. More than eight types of monosaccharides were detected in Djf and Ws. The monosaccharide content of Djf (314.16 mg/g) was significantly higher than that of Ws (60.97 mg/g). Trehalose was the predominant component both in Djf (71.2%) and Ws (78.6%).

This study was to investigate the composition and characteristics of long-chained alcohols extracted from the algal strain Monoraphidium 3s35. The production of biomass was optimized using different cultivation methods. Under the aerated growth condition, this strain yielded up to 37.26% extracts of dry weight and $576mgL^{-1}$ biomass. The major compounds of the extracts are mainly long-chained alcohols (89.24%), with carbon chain length ranging from 12 to 20. Interestingly, or the long-chained alcohols, 3-(2-Methoxyethyl)-1-nonanol, 3,7,11,15-Tetramethyl-2-hexadecen-1-ol and oleyl alcohol accounted for 53.68%, 23.45%, and 12.11%, respectively. Because of their amphipathic nature, these long-chained alcohols have been widely used in bioenergy production and cosmetics industry. Furthermore, Monoraphidium 3s35 produced 9.73% of $C_{17}$ and $C_{20}$ alkanes, which can be used as an important supplement for the petrodiesel-like fuel.

Embryonic lethal abnormal visual (elav) is a lethal gene in Drosophila inducing the abnormal development and function of nervous system. We cloned a Bmelav gene by bioinformatics and biological experiment, based on sequence of ELAV protein and dbEST of Bombyx mori. The full-length of Bm-elav cDNA is 1498 bp, contains a 906 bp open read frame (ORF) encoding a precursor of 301 amino acid residues with a calculated molecular weight of 34 kDa and pI of 8.99. Bm-ELAV protein precursor contains three RNA recognition motifs (RRM) in 24~91, 110~177 and 222~295 bit amino acid residues respectively, and belongs to RNA-binding protein family. Bm-ELAV shared varying positives, ranging from 56% to 60% (Identities from 41% to 45%), with RRM from other species of Xenopus tropicalis, Apis mellifera, Tribolium castaneum, Branchiostoma belcheri and Drosophila. Gene localization indicated that Bm-elav is a single-copy gene, gene mapping within 12-chromosome from 7916.68 knt to 7918.16 knt region of nscaf2993. Spatiotemporal expressions pattern analysis revealed that Bm-elav expressed higher in most tested tissues and developmental stages in whole generation, such as silk gland, fat body, midgut, hemopoietic organ and ovary, but almost no expression in terminated diapause eggs. This suggested that the expression of Bm-elav in early developmental embryonic stages might induce abnormal development like in Drosophila. Cloning of the Bmelav gene enables us to test its potential role in controlling pests by transferring the gene into field lepidopteran insects in the future.

<P>We report a simple method for preparing transparent conductive graphene films using a chemically converted graphene (CCG) suspension that was obtained via controlled chemical reduction of exfoliated graphene oxide (GO) in the absence of dispersants. Upon thermal annealing of the CCG films, the films displayed a sheet resistance on the order of 10<SUP>3</SUP> Ω·◻<SUP>−1</SUP> at 80% transparency (550 nm), with a bulk conductivity on the order of 10<SUP>2</SUP> S·cm<SUP>−1</SUP>. FT-IR, UV−visible, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed that the combination of the controlled reduction of GO in suspension and thermal annealing of the CCG films efficiently restored the sp<SUP>2</SUP> carbon networks of the graphene sheets, facilitating charge carrier transport in the individual CCG sheets. Furthermore, grazing-incidence X-ray diffraction results showed that the thermal annealing of the CCG films reduced the interlayer distance between the CCG sheets to a distance comparable to that in bulk graphite, facilitating charge carrier transport across the CCG sheets. Polymer solar cell devices composed of the CCG films as transparent electrodes showed power conversion efficiencies, η, of 1.01 ± 0.05%, which corresponded to half the value (2.04 ± 0.1%) of the reference devices, in which indium tin oxide-covered glass was used for the transparent electrode.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jpccck/2010/jpccck.2010.114.issue-34/jp105029m/production/images/medium/jp-2010-05029m_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/jp105029m'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
