The gene encoding an acid protease natively produced by Saccharomycopsis fibuligera was cloned and overexpressed in Yarrowia lipolytica and the resultant recombinant acid protease was purified and characterized. The molecular mass of the purified enzyme was estimated as 94.8 kDa by gel filtration chromatography. The optimal pH and temperature of the purified acid protease were 3.5and 33oC, respectively, and the enzyme was very stable over a pH range of 1.0 ~ 3.0. The recombinant acid protease was activated by Zn2+, but was inhibited by Hg2+,Fe2+, Fe3+, and Mg2+, EDTA, EGTA, iodoacetic acid, and pepstatin. The purified recombinant acid protease from the positive transformant 71 had high milk clotting activity,suggesting that it may be used as a rennet substitute in the cheese industry.
Seismic performance and its favorable structural system of three-tower suspension bridge

Due to the lack of effective longitudinal constraint for center tower, structural stiffness of three-tower suspension bridge becomes less than that of two-tower suspension bridge, and therefore it becomes more susceptible to the seismic action. By taking a three-tower suspension bridge-the Taizhou Highway Bridge over the Yangtze River with two main spans of 1080 m as example, structural dynamiccharacteristics and seismic performance of the bridge is investigated, and the effects of cable’s sag to span ratio, structural stiffness of the center tower, and longitudinal constraint of the girder on seismic response of the bridge are also investigated, and the favorable structural system is discussed with respect to seismic performance. The results show that structural response under lateral seismic action is more remarkable, especially for the side towers, and therefore more attentions should be paid to the lateral seismicperformance and also the side towers. Large cable’s sag, flexible center tower and the longitudinal elastic cable between the center tower and the girder are favorable to improve structural seismic performance of long-span three-tower suspension bridges.
Study of seismic performance of cable-stayed-suspension hybrid bridges

By taking a cable-stayed-suspension hybrid bridge with main span of 1400 m as example, seismic response of the bridge under the horizontal and vertical seismic excitations is investigated numerically by response spectrum analysis and time history analysis, its seismic performance is discussed and compared to the cable-stayed bridge and suspension bridge with the same main span, and considering the aspect of seismic performance, the feasibility of using cable-stayed-suspension hybrid bridge in super long-span bridges is discussed. Under the horizontal seismic action, the effects of structural design parameters including the cable sag to span ratio, the suspension to span ratio, the side span length, the subsidiary piers in side spans, the girder supporting system and the deck form etc on the seismic performance of the bridge are investigated by response spectrum analysis, and the favorable values of these design parameters are proposed.
Numerical Analysis of ICRF Antenna Array

A numerical code for the calculation of the coupling between an ICRF wave and a plasma by using the variational principle has been extended so that it can be applied to a phased antenna array. The fundamental parameters, such as the self-consistent current distribution in the antenna, the RF fields excited inside the plasma and the antenna impedance can be evaluated by using this code for various types of antenna arrays. In this paper, the antenna impedance dependence on various antenna parameters and the field structure in the various phasing cases are discussed for the ICRF heating in the Experimental Advanced Superconductor Tokamak (EAST).
Mechanics feasibility of using CFRP cables in super long-span cable-stayed bridges

To gain understanding of the applicability of CFRP cables in super long-span cable-stayed bridges, by taking a 1400 m cable-stayed bridge as example, mechanics performance including the static behavior under service load, dynamic behavior, wind stability and seismic behavior of the bridge using either steel or CFRP cables are investigated numerically and compared. The results show that viewed from the aspect of mechanics performance, the use of CFRP cables in super long-span cable-stayed bridges is feasible, and the cross-sectional areas of CFRP cables should be determined by the principle of equivalent axial stiffness.

Purpose: To investigate the prevalence of spina bifida occulta (SBO) and its relationship with the presence of overactive bladder (OAB) in middle-aged and elderly people in China. Methods: A cross-sectional community-based survey was carried out at 7 communities in Zhengzhou City, China from December 15, 2013 to June 10, 2014, where residents aged over 40 years were randomly selected to participate. All of the participants underwent lumbosacral radiographic analysis and relevant laboratory tests. A questionnaire including basic information, past medical history and present illness, and the OAB symptom score was filled out by all participants. Chi-square tests and logistic regression were used for data analysis with a P-value of <0.05 denoting statistical significance. Results: A total of 1,061 subjects were qualified for the final statistical analysis (58.8±11.7 years; male, 471 [44.4%]; female, 590 [55.6%]). The overall prevalence of SBO was 15.1% (160 of 1,061): 18.3% (86 of 471) in men and 12.5% (74 of 590) in women. Among these subjects, 13.7% (145 of 1,061) had OAB: 13.2% (62 of 471) in men and 14.1% (83 of 590) in women. The results of logistic regression showed that age, SBO, history of cerebral infarction (HCI), and constipation were risk factors for OAB (P<0.05), while sex, history of childhood enuresis (HCE), body mass index (BMI), and diabetes mellitus (DM) were not (P>0.05). In men, age, SBO, and constipation were risk factors for OAB (P<0.05), while HCE, BMI, DM, HCI, and benign prostate hyperplasia were not (P>0.05). In women, age, SBO, and HCI were risk factors for OAB (P<0.05), while HCE, BMI, DM, vaginal delivery, and constipation were not (P>0.05). Conclusions: The prevalence of SBO is high and it is related to OAB in middle-aged and elderly people in China.
