        Optimization of photocatalytic degradation of Cefradine using a “green” goethite/H2O2 system

        An environmental friendly photocatalyst, goethite in the presence of H2O2, was used to remove Cefradinefrom aqueous solution. Four factors were examined using Box–Behnken Design and results wereanalyzed by response surface method. H2O2 concentration had the largest effect on Cefradine removaland the optimal reaction conditions were: H2O2 concentration, 4 mmol/L; solution pH, 5; goethitedosage, 1.2 g/L and illumination time, 9 h. Experimental data on Cefradine removal under optimalconditions closely coincided with model predictions, validating the model. Hydroxyl radicals ( OH) andsuperoxide anion were involved in the Cefradine photodegradation process and that OH makes thelarger contribution.

        Nonlinear Excitation Control Design of Generator Based on Multi-objective Feedback

        In order to realize the multi-objective control of single-input multi-output nonlinear differential algebraic system (NDAS) and to improve the dynamic characteristics and static accuracy, a design method of nonlinear control with multi-objective feedback (NCMOF) is proposed, the principium of this method to arrange system poles, as well as its nature to coordinate dynamic characteristics and static accuracy of the system are analyzed in detail. Through NCMOF design method, the multi-objective control of the system is transformed into linear space, and then it is effectively controlled under the nonlinear feedback control law, the problem to balance all control objectives caused by less input and more output of the system thus is solved. Applying NCMOF design method to generator excitation system, the nonlinear excitation control law with terminal voltage, active power and rotor speed as objective outputs is designed. Simulation results show that NCMOF can not only improve the dynamic characteristics of generator, but also damp the mechanical oscillation of a generator in transient process. Moreover, NCMOF can control the terminal voltage of the generator to the setting value with no static error under typical disturbances.

        Effects of Florfenicol and Chromium (III) on Humoral Immune Response in Chicks

        One hundred and sixty day-old Hainan chicks were randomly allotted into eight pens to investigate the effect of different dietary concentrations of chromium (Cr) in the form of chromium chloride, and different dosages of florfenicol on humoral immune responses by determining antibody titers to Newcastle disease (ND) vaccines using the hemagglutination inhibition test. The results indicated that ND antibody titers were significantly higher in chicks receiving Cr at low (5 mg/kg feed) and middle (10 mg/kg feed) dose compared with the control (p<0.01). However, ND antibody titers were significantly decreased in chicks receiving Cr at a high dosage of 500 mg/kg feed (p<0.01), though the ND antibody titers of the early days (d 21 and d 28 of age) were higher than that of the control group. It is suggested that excessive Cr intake has detrimental effects on ND antibody production in chicks. No significantly lower response was measured in chicks that received florfenicol at a low dosage of 50 mg/kg feed (p>0.05), but the ND antibody titers were significantly decreased in chicks receiving 200 and 400 mg/kg feed of the drug (p<0.01). The ND antibody titers of group receiving 200 mg/kg feed of florfenicol plus 10 mg/kg Cr were slightly higher than that of the group receiving single florfenicol of 200 mg/kg although, no significant differences were observed between these two treatments. It is suggested that the humoral immune response impaired by florfenicol (200 mg/kg feed) could not be significantly reversed by Cr (10 mg/kg feed).

      • Data-Driven Quadratic Optimization for Tracking Problems with Application to a Tray Indexing System

        Iterative Feedback Tuning (IFT) algorithm explores the correlation between the cost function and the parameters of the controller. It introduces one data-driven approach to derive the gradient of the cost function with respect to the controller parameters and provides an iterative numerical method for the controller parameters optimization. However, classical IFT algorithms require three experiments to be conducted at one iteration, and one special experiment is included in the three experiments. That means the reference signal is changed during the iteration because of the special experiment, which restricts the application of the IFT algorithm in many areas. Besides, in many process control applications with long duration, IFT algorithm is much more time-consuming than many other tuning algorithms. In this paper, a novel IFT algorithm is proposed. For each iteration, no special experiment is required, which means parameters of the controller can be tuned when the system is running normally. Simulation results on a tray indexing system demonstrate the high performance and applicability of this algorithm.
