Paeoniflorin (PAE) is the most abundant compound in Xuebijing injection widely used to treat sepsis. We aimed to investigate effect of PAE on expression of soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (sTREM-1) in a rat model of sepsis. Wistar rats were divided into Normal, Model, and PAE groups (n=20 each). Endotoxin was administrated at 5 mg/ml/kg in Model and PAE rats to establish rat sepsis model. 1 h after endotoxin administration, PAE was administrated at 4 ml/kg in PAE group once per day for 3 days. Routine blood tests and biochemical indexes were assessed, including aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and creatine kinase-MB (CKMB). The plasma sTREM-1 level was measured using quantitative ELISA. At the end of experiment, the small intestine, liver, kidney and lung were subjected to pathological examinations. A rat model of sepsis-induced multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) was established successfully with endotoxin administration (5 mg/ml/kg), evidenced by histo-pathological examinations, routine blood tests and biochemical indexes: platelet count decreased and white blood cell count increased (p<0.05), CK-MB and AST increased (p<0.05). PAE treatment significantly reduced the plasma levels of AST, CK-MB, and sTREM-1, compared to Model group (p<0.05). Meanwhile, sepsis-induced damages in the liver, lung, stomach and intestinal mucosa were also markedly ameliorated by PAE treatment. PAE demonstrated a significantly protective effect in a rat model of sepsis by decreasing plasma sTREM-1 level, reducing inflammation, preventing MODS and protecting organ functions.

In consideration of cost reduction, three-phase four-switch (TPFS) converters are applied in permanent magnet synchronous motor/generator (PMSM/G) drive application. However, the reduced number of active vectors has a negative infl uence on the signal waveform and the stator copper losses. With respect to the stator copper loss reduction, the root-mean-square (RMS) value of the stator copper loss ripple is chosen as a performance criterion in this paper. It is proved in this paper that the stator current ripple plays a more important role than the equivalent resistance in the copper loss ripples by double Fourier integral analysis. Thus, the RMS value of the stator current ripple can be applied as an analytical approach to evaluate the stator harmonic copper losses of the two proposed space vector modulation (SVM). Consequently, the proposed SVM strategy realizes the highfrequency stator copper loss ripple reduction. The experimental results demonstrate the validation of the proposed analysis.

We characterized the proteomes of murine N2a cells following infection with three rabies virus (RV) strains, characterized by distinct virulence phenotypes (i.e., virulent BD06, fixed CVS-11, and attenuated SRV9 strains), and identified 35 changes to protein expression using twodimensional gel electrophoresis in whole-cell lysates. The annotated functions of these proteins are involved in various cytoskeletal, signal transduction, stress response, and metabolic processes. Specifically, a-enolase, prx-4, vimentin, cytokine-induced apoptosis inhibitor 1 (CIAPIN1) and prx-6 were significantly up-regulated, whereas Trx like-1 and galectin-1 were down-regulated following infection of N2a cells with all three rabies virus strains. However, comparing expressions of all 35 proteins affected between BD06-, CVS-11-, and SRV9-infected cells, specific changes in expression were also observed. The up-regulation of vimentin, CIAPIN1, prx-4, and 14-3-3 θ/δ, and downregulation of NDPK-B and HSP-1 with CVS and SRV9 infection were ≥2 times greater than with BD06. Meanwhile, Zfp12 protein, splicing factor, and arginine/serine-rich 1 were unaltered in the cells infected with BD06 and CVS- 11, but were up-regulated in the group infected with SRV9. The proteomic alterations described here may suggest that these changes to protein expression correlate with the rabies virus`` adaptability and virulence in N2a cells, and hence provides new clues as to the response of N2a host cells to rabies virus infections, and may also aid in uncovering new pathways in these cells that are involved in rabies infections. Further characterization of the functions of the affected proteins may contribute to our understanding of the mechanisms of RV infection and pathogenesis.

Existing PWM methods suffer from a trade off between zero-sequence circulating current (ZSCC) and line-current ripple, which are two major concerns of two parallel interleaved two-level (2L) voltage-source converters (VSCs). Thus, this paper introduces a novel space vector-based PWM strategy to reduce both line-current ripple and ZSCC. Given the redundancy of the vector combination of two parallel interleaved converters, this paper proposes eight optimal vector sequences, which simultaneously optimizes the ZSCC and the line-current ripple. Then, a carrier-based scheme is applied to yield optimal vector sequences, which simplifies the implementation procedure. Furthermore, this paper quantitatively compares both the ZSCC and the line-current ripple of the proposed method to those of existing PWM schemes. This comparison confirms that the proposed method is superior to existing PWM schemes in terms of current ripple and ZSCC. Finally, experimental results further verify the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Non-doped organic light-emitting diodes with saturated red emission were fabricated using 4-(2-(3,3-dicyanomethylene-5,5-dimethyl-1-cyclohexylidene)vinyl)phenyldi(1-naphthyl)amine (DNP-2CN) or 4-(2-(3,3-dicyanomethylene-5,5-dimethyl-1-cyclohexylidene)vinyl)phenyl(1-naphthyl)phe- nylamine (DPN-2CN) as the emitting layer. Different electron-transporting materials, tris(8-hydroxylquinoline) aluminum (Alq$_3$), 2,2',2''-(1,3,5-phenylene)tris[1-phenyl-1$H$-benzimidazole] (TPBI) and 2-(4-biphenyl)-5-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (PBD), were introduced into the devices for examining their energy level compatibility of DNP-2CN or DPN-2CN. The device with a structure of ITO/ NPB/ DNP-2CN/ BCP/ Alq$_3$/ LiF/ Al showed red emission with $\lambda_{max}$ at 670 nm (CIE coordinates: $x$ = 0.66, $y$ = 0.33) and a high luminance of 438 cd m$^{-2}$ at a driving voltage of 12 V. The device with a structure of ITO/ NPB/ DPN-2CN/ BCP/ Alq$_3$/ LiF/ Al showed a high brightness of 225 cd m$^{-2}$ at a driving voltage of 12 V with $\lambda_{max}$ at 674 nm (CIE coordinates: $x$ = 0.65, $y$ = 0.33).

Some Motifs Were Important for Myostatin Transcriptional Regulation in Sheep (Ovis aries)
Du, Rong,An, Xiao-Rong,Chen, Yong-Fu,Qin, Jian Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2007 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.40 No.4
Many motifs along the 1.2 kb myostatin promoter (MSTNpro) in sheep have been found by the MatInspecter program in our recent study. To further verify the role of the motifs and better understand the transcriptional regulation mechanism of the myostatin gene in sheep, the reporter gene EGFP (enhanced green fluorescent protein) was selected and the wild-type (W) vector MSTNPro$^W$-EGFP or motif-mutational (M) vector MSTNPro$^M$-EGFP were constructed. The transcriptional regulation activities were analyzed by detecting the fluorescence strength of EGFP in C2C12 myoblasts transfected with the vectors. The results showed that E-box (E) 3, E4, E5 and E7, particularly E3, E5 and E7, had important effects on the activity of the 1.2 kb sheep myostatin promoter. In addition, we also detected several other important motifs such as MTBF (muscle-specific Mt binding factor), MEF2 (myocyte enhancer factor 2), GRE (glucocorticoid response elements) and PRE (progesterone response elements) along the sheep myostatin promoter by the mutational analysis.

This paper is concerned with the robust stability for neutral-type Lur’e system with mixed time-varyingdelays. By combining the delay-fraction theory with the reciprocally convex method andWirtinger-based inequalitytechnology, some new delay-derivative-dependent stability criteria are derived via a modified Lyapunov-Krasovskiifunctional (LKF) approach. The criteria are less conservative than some previous ones.
