A rice diacylglycerol kinase (DGK) gene, OsBIDK1, which encodes a 499-amino acid protein, was cloned and characterized. OsBIDK1 contains a conserved DGK domain, consisting of a diacylglycerol kinase catalytic subdomain and a diacylglycerol kinase accessory subdomain. Expression of OsBIDK1 in rice seedlings was induced by treatment with benzothiadiazole (BTH), a chemical activator of the plant defense response, and by infection with Magnaporthe grisea, causal agent of blast disease. In BTH-treated rice seedlings, expression of OsBIDK1 was induced earlier and at a higher level than in water-treated control seedlings after inoculation with M. grisea. Transgenic tobacco plants that constitutively express the OsBIDK1 gene were generated and disease resistance assays showed that overexpression of OsBIDK1 in transgenic tobacco plants resulted in enhanced resistance against infection by tobacco mosaic virus and Phytophthora parasitica var. nicotianae. These results suggest that OsBIDK1 may play a role in disease resistance responses.
Staging Unity, Celebrating Chineseness
WEIDONG ZHANG 한국언론학회 2004 Asian Communication Research Vol.1 No.2
This paper examines the Chinese television text of the Spring Festival Eve Gala 2002, and explores how Chinese national identity, or Chineseness, and ethnicity are represented and circulated in the popular entertainment text by the Chinese media. The paper argues that the state-run media function as an ideology state apparatus, interpellate individuals with dominant ideology through their hegemonic discourses. Regardless of ethnic boundaries, a homogenous, monolithic Chineseness is imposed on every Chinese. In this process, ethnicity, though not totally effaced, can only be staged on the margin. The ethnic minorities are reduced, exploited and appropriated for the purpose of construction of a national unity.
Filtration and regeneration behavior of polytetrafluoroethylene membrane for dusty gas treatment
Weidong Zhang,Deqiang Jiang,Junteng Liu,Zhongqi Ren,Wang Geng 한국화학공학회 2008 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.25 No.4
With micron talcum particles and nano-CaCO3 powder as test dust, a series of experiments have been carried out to systematically study the gas filtration and regeneration behavior of polytetrafluoroethylene membrane, and some comparisons were made with common filter media. The experimental results showed that the PTFE membrane had a filtration efficiency of above 99.99% for micron particles, and excellent regeneration behavior was obtained, though a much higher initial pressure drop existed. Based on the results, it was concluded that the PTFE membrane is an excellent surface-filtration media for micron particles. Effects of operation parameters, including airflow velocity, particle concentration and particle characteristics were also investigated. To better understand the evolution of pressure drop during the filtration process, a mathematical model with operation parameters and characteristics of particles was derived from the gas-solid two-phase flow theories. A novel method on the determination of regeneration period of the filter media was put forward based on the analysis of the pressure drop according to this model

Growth-blocking peptide (GBP) is a 25 amino acid insect cytokine found in lepidopteran insects that has diverse biological activities such as larval growth regulation, paralysis induction, cell proliferation and stimulation of immune cells. Density-dependent phase polyphenism is a phenomenon of phenotypic plasticity in which the expression of a variety of traits can be affected by local population density. In the present study, the armyworm Mythimna separata larvae with four rearing densities (1 larva/vial, 2 larvae/vial, 4 larvae/vial and 6 larvae/vial) were tested for cuticular melanization and body weight throughout the third-fifth instar, and the functional role of GBP in regulating the changes was investigated. The results indicated that when reared at high densities, the larvae exhibited less body weight and more degree of cuticular melanization than larvae reared at low densities. The gene expression of GBP in armyworm larvae showed an initial rise and then decline trend with increased rearing densities in the third to fifth instar. Compared with control, more degree of cuticular melanization was observed in GBP-injected larvae (500 ng/larva in volume 50 μL) than that in Ringer’s solution-injected counterparts. Furthermore, the gene expression level of dopa decarboxylase and prophenoloxidase increased significantly in GBP-injected fifth instar larvae from 6 h to 12 h after injection, suggesting the role of GBP in modulating density-dependent phase trait of armyworm cuticular melanization.
Extraction separation of toluene/cyclohexane with hollow fiber supported ionic liquid membrane
Fan Zhang,Zhongqi Ren,Wei Sun,Junteng Liu,Weidong Zhang 한국화학공학회 2014 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.31 No.6
A supported liquid membrane with ionic liquid was used for the separation of toluene/cyclohexane. Theinteractions of ionic liquid with toluene and cyclohexane were calculated and experimentally studied by quantum chemicalcalculation and liquid-liquid extraction process. The results showed [BPy][BF4] have stronger interaction with toluenethan that with cyclohexane. The selectivity of SILM processes was larger than 10 at the temperature of 323 K and theflow rate of 13.5 mL·min-1 on both shell side and lumen side. Due to the higher viscosity of IL, SILM process hadgood long-term stability. As the effects of mass transfer driving force of SILM process, the flux and removal efficiencyincreased with increase of initial toluene concentration, while the selectivity decreased because of the competitive transport. Base on the resistance in-series model and experimental results, the mass transfer resistance was mainly lay liquidmembrane phase. The influence of flow rates on both sides was slight. The higher temperature could enhance the masstransfer performance significantly. The removal efficiency increased from 28.2% to 45.1% with the increasing of operationtemperature from 298 K to 323 K.
An Efficient Blind Detection Algorithm of Median Filtered Image
Yongzhen Ke,Fan Qin,Weidong Min,Qiang Zhang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.1
Due to the significant advances of digital photography and the availability of many powerful photo editing tools, it becomes easier to create forgery images by non-professional users. Median filtering that is usually applied to erase the forensically significant fingerprints has recently received increased attention. In this paper, we present an effective blind forensic algorithm to detect the median filtering manipulation. First, the median filtered residual (MFR) is generated by computing the difference between a testing image and a median filtered version of itself. Then, three feature sets including histogram, autocorrelation and gradient are extracted from the median filter residual. Last, those features are fetched into support vector machine (SVM) for training and classification. Our experimental results demonstrate that our proposed forensic method achieves not only better detection rate but also lower computational complexity compared with other existing median filtering detection methods. Our proposed forensic method also can locate local median filtering of image effectively.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between the static characteristics of non-pneumatic tires (NPTs) and spokedesign parameters using the fi nite element (FE) method. A three-dimensional FE model of the NPT was established. Theinfl uence of diff erent ranges of stress and strain on the calculation accuracy of the Neo-Hookean and Yeoh constitutivemodels was analyzed. Subsequently, the main design parameters—spoke thickness, spoke number, and arc curvature—wereselected according to the geometric characteristics of the spokes. The eff ects of these three parameters on the vertical stiff -ness, maximum spoke stress, overall maximum stress, and maximum and average contact pressures were examined usingunivariate and multivariate analysis methods. The range and variance analysis results indicated that the spoke thickness, spoke number, and arc curvature had a signifi cant eff ect on the vertical stiff ness. Finally, the relationship between the verticalstiff ness and product of the spoke thickness and number was obtained using a nonlinear fi tting method. When the arc curvatureof the spoke was less than 5 m −1 , the errors between the calculated and simulated vertical stiff ness did not exceed 5%. This observation can be used to facilitate the rapid design of spoke parameters under diff erent load capacity requirements.
The Value of Tumor Treating Fields in Glioblastoma
Zhang, Chaochao,Du, Jianyang,Xu, Weidong,Huang, Haiyan,Gao, Li The Korean Neurosurgical Society 2020 Journal of Korean neurosurgical society Vol.63 No.6
Glioblastoma (GBM) is one of the most common tumors of the central nervous system, which is the most lethal brain cancer. GBM treatment is based primarily on surgical resection, combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Despite the positive treatment, progression free survival and overall survival were not significantly prolonged because GBM almost always recurs. We are always looking forward to some new and effective treatments. In recent years, a novel treatment method called tumor treating fields (TTFields) for cancer treatment has been proposed. TTFields devices were approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for adjuvant treatment of recurrent and newly diagnosed GBMs in 2011 and 2015, respectively. This became the first breakthrough treatment for GBM in the past 10 years after the FDA approved bevacizumab for patients with relapsed GBM in 2009. This paper summarized the research results of TTFields in recent years and elaborated the mechanism of action of TTFields on GBM, including cell and animal experimental research, clinical application and social benefits.
A Novel Cross-Layer Dynamic Integrated Priority-Computing Scheme for 3G+ Systems
Weidong Wang,Zongwen Wang,Xinlei Zhao,Yinghai Zhang,Yao Zhou 한국통신학회 2012 Journal of communications and networks Vol.14 No.1
As Internet protocol and wireless communications have developed, the number of different types of mobile services has increased gradually. Existing priority-computing schemes cannot satisfy the dynamic requirements of supporting multiple services in future wireless communication systems, because the currently used factors, mainly user priority, are relatively simple and lack relevancy. To solve this problem and provide the desired complexity, dynamic behavior, and fairness features of 3G and beyond 3G mobile communication systems, this paper proposes a novel crosslayer dynamic integrated priority-computing scheme that computes the priority based on a variety of factors, including quality of service requirements, subscriber call types, waiting time, movement mode, and traffic load from the corresponding layers. It is observed from simulation results that the proposed dynamic integrated priority scheme provides enhanced performance.
