• NATO's Factor in Ensuring the National Security of Modern Ukraine

Biloshytskyi, Volodymyr,Hanhal, Artur,Mokliak, Sergii,Pysmennyi, Oleksii,Smolianiuk, Volodymyr International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2021 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.21 No.spc12

The study is based on the elaborated normative and legal documentation regulating the national security of modern Ukraine and the normative and legal documents adopted by NATO in the responding policy to the challenges that arose after 2014. The main advantages of cooperation with NATO are ensuring military security, developing army standards, improving the country's investment climate, and reducing expenditures on the army. The disadvantages of cooperation with NATO in hostilities with Russia are not highlighted. Still, defined obstacles show that Ukraine is not ready to realize entry into NATO in the short term. Such factors include weak information support, corruption, and unclear diplomatic decisions.

      • Public-Private Partnership in the System of Economic Development of the Country

Muliar, Volodymyr,Ryda, Tetyana,Dolot, Volodymyr,Didych, Oleg,Grechanyk, Bogdan,Chornysh, Iurii International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2022 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.22 No.9

The main purpose of the study is to determine the key aspects of the public-private partnership system in the context of the economic development of the state. At first glance, the mutually exclusive interests of the state and business do not contribute to the development of common and agreed development goals. At the same time, ignoring the versatility of interests and the aggravation of the discussion regarding the two sides under consideration, the study of the theoretical foundations of the interaction between the public and private sectors of the economy allows us to draw the following conclusion: world economic theory from classical political economy to new institutionalism has a clear structured position on the ancient historical depth of existence of the form of partnerships Based on the results of the study, the main elements of the public-private partnership system in the context of the economic development of the state were identified.

Insufficiently diverse: The problem of nonviolent leverage and radicalization of Ukraine’s Maidan uprising, 2013–2014

Volodymyr Ishchenko 한양대학교 아태지역연구센터 2020 Journal of Eurasian Studies Vol.11 No.2

The article explains the violent radicalization of the initially peaceful Maidan uprising in January 2014 as the result of failure to build efficient leverage against Viktor Yanukovych with nonviolent methods. Maidan lacked critical diversity of nonviolent tactics insofar as directly disruptive methods of noncooperation (e.g., strikes and boycott) remained smallscale and inefficient. The Maidan protest coalition primarily lacked social-organizational resources, i.e. authoritative civil society organizations and strong labor movement, for developing nonviolent leverage that was partially connected to gaps in ideological and regional diversity and partially to unfavorable structural conditions. However, radical nationalists actively participating in the protests possessed a unique combination of resources for initiating and diffusing efficient, coordinated, and strategic violence when it became legitimated by intensifying repressions and disillusionment in the incapacity of the oppositional political parties to propose an efficient strategy against the government. Violent radicalization facilitated geographical expansion of disruption via occupations of governmental buildings in western and central Ukrainian regions that the state was ultimately incapable of containing.

      • Impact of Low-cost Carriers on International Air Passenger Movements to and from Major Airports in Asia

        Volodymyr Bilotkach,Keisuke Kawata,Tae Seung Kim,Jaehong Park,Putut Purwandonok,Yuichiro Yoshida 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 2017 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 학술대회 Vol.2017 No.1

Asia is the world’s most rapidly growing aviation market, and the region now cradles the largest number of low-cost carriers (LCCs). This paper identifies the causal effect of LCC entry on international air passenger flows to and from 30 major airports in Asia using reservation-based international air passenger traffic data for years 2010 and 2015 (N=123,148). In order to bypass the endogeneity arising from self selection of LCCs’ entry decision as well as confounding by unobservables, the paper utilizes multiple identification strategies, namely, difference-in-differences (DID), propensity score matching coupled with DID, DID with inverse-probability weighted regression adjustment, and a fuzzy RDD with the maximum flight range of an aircraft typically used by LCCs as the cutoff. The results consistently show that LCC impact on international air passenger traffic is strictly positive, and is decreasing over distance with slight convexity. Another finding is that the impact of LCC entry net of competition effect holding market concentration constant account for the major part of the overall impact, i.e. LCC replacing full-service carriers greatly increases international air passenger movements in Asia.

Cardiac Lipoma Extirpation with Chronic Lung Abscess Excision: A Case Report of Simultaneous Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery Procedures

Volodymyr Fedorovych Kryvetskyi,Pavlo Serhiiovych Lysak,Svitlana Hryhorivna Kaminska,Bohdan Oleksiiovych Mitiuk 대한흉부외과학회 2021 Journal of Chest Surgery (J Chest Surg) Vol.54 No.6

This study examined a rarely seen benign heart tumor that was found incidentally on a chest X-ray. Radiological images were taken of a 42-year-old patient with no symptoms of a heart condition, showing a thick-walled left lung cavity that appeared after prior inflam- mation and concomitant enlargement of the cardiac shadow. A large subepicardial lipoma in combination with a chronic abscess on the left lung was revealed on chest computed tomography. The treatment consisted of simultaneous surgical removal of both the lung and heart lesions using video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery.

Tsarist Business: State-owned Enterprises in the Late Russian Empire

        Volodymyr Kulikov,Martin Kragh 한국외국어대학교(글로벌캠퍼스) 러시아연구소 2021 REGION Vol.10 No.2

The role of the state in the industrialization of the late Russian Empire has been a recurrent topic in historiography. Scholars have studied certain seg- ments of state-owned entrepreneurship but have not taken a holistic approach to enterprises run or controlled by central or local government. This article draws on statistical yearbooks and other primary sources to address this gap in scholarship. It demonstrates that while Tsarist Russia had a diverse public sector, it employed no more than 10 percent of all economically active workers in all areas apart from public administration, the military, education, human health, and social work. The government kept certain enterprises in its owner- ship for various reasons, such as fiscal correction, regional development, and defense. Although the economic footprint of the state was considerable, there is no evidence that its role was significantly more prominent in the Russian case than elsewhere in Europe. The financial performance of most state-owned enterprises was poor; they were less efficient than their European counterparts and compared to private enterprises with a similar profile operating in Russia.

      • Progressive NKCC1-Dependent Neuronal Chloride Accumulation during Neonatal Seizures.

        Dzhala, Volodymyr I,Kuchibhotla, Kishore V,Glykys, Joseph C,Kahle, Kristopher T,Swiercz, Waldemar B,Feng, Guoping,Kuner, Thomas,Augustine, George J,Bacskai, Brian J,Staley, Kevin J The Society 2010 The Journal of neuroscience Vol.30 No.35

Seizures induce excitatory shifts in the reversal potential for GABA(A)-receptor-mediated responses, which may contribute to the intractability of electro-encephalographic seizures and preclude the efficacy of widely used GABAergic anticonvulsants such as phenobarbital. We now report that, in intact hippocampi prepared from neonatal rats and transgenic mice expressing Clomeleon, recurrent seizures progressively increase the intracellular chloride concentration ([Cl(-)](i)) assayed by Clomeleon imaging and invert the net effect of GABA(A) receptor activation from inhibition to excitation assayed by the frequency of action potentials and intracellular Ca(2+) transients. These changes correlate with increasing frequency of seizure-like events and reduction in phenobarbital efficacy. The Na(+)-K(+)-2Cl(-) (NKCC1) cotransporter blocker bumetanide inhibited seizure-induced neuronal Cl(-) accumulation and the consequent facilitation of recurrent seizures. Our results demonstrate a novel mechanism by which seizure activity leads to [Cl(-)](i) accumulation, thereby increasing the probability of subsequent seizures. This provides a potential mechanism for the early crescendo phase of neonatal seizures.

      • Psychological And Pedagogical Aspects Of Implementation Of Innovation In The Modern Educational Process

Hordieiev, Volodymyr,Shcherbakova, Nadiia,Syryatska, Tetyana,Popov, Yuriy,Сhernyshchuk, Yulia,Pavlenko, Inna International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2022 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.22 No.11

The article determines that, in the preservation of cultural heritage, lifestyle, an important role is played by the subjects' high assessment of the probability of achieving the result they need through the implementation of traditional models, ways of interaction. If dissatisfaction with the results of interaction is great, but there are no necessary conditions for a phased resolution of contradictions, for changing, developing interpersonal relations within the framework of the existing system, interaction becomes more difficult. It has been determined that the presence of effective models that show the possibility of meeting the requirements for the psyche of a variety of individuals from the side of activity, activating an extended search for mutually acceptable ways to success, depends on the development of the personality and its social relations, the success of interaction between people, socially psychological climate in the team.

Thermodynamic analysis of hybrid two-stage CO2 mechanical compression–ejector cooling cycle

        Ierin Volodymyr,Chen Guangming,Hao Xinyue,Volovyk Oleksii 대한설비공학회 2023 International Journal of Air-Conditioning and Refr Vol.31 No.1

In the present study, the main results of thermodynamic analysis of the hybrid two-stage carbon dioxide (CO2) transcritical mechanical compression–ejector cooling cycle using R245ca are provided. In the proposed cycle, an increase in the energy efficiency of a mechanical compression refrigeration machine (MCRM) is provided by additional supercooling of CO2 after the gas cooler due to the use of cold obtained in an ejector cooling machine (ECM). The ECM uses part of the superheated vapor heat after the high-pressure compressor and the intermediate pressure heat after the low-pressure compressor. This solution provides intermediate cooling of CO2 vapor without using an external cooling medium. The proposed method of computation makes it possible to determine the optimal parameters of the hybrid cooling cycle for the design conditions, ensuring the maximum possible MCRM efficiency. At the same time, the method considers the need to determine the optimal gas cooler pressure – a parameter that has a significant impact on efficiency growth. The effect of the intermediate pressure is extremely insignificant and is defined as the geometric mean value of the product of the gas cooler and evaporator pressures. The results show an increase in efficiency of the two-stage CO2 MCRM by up to 31.6% at high temperatures of the environment. In addition, as a result of the exergy analysis, components have been identified, the improvement of which can lead to an additional increase in the efficiency of the entire system. As follows from the data obtained, the greatest attention should be paid to improving the ejector and reducing throttle losses in the CO2 cycle.
