Optical communication systems are rapidly spread following increases in data traffic. In this work, a 32-Gb/s inductorless output buffer circuit with adjustable pre-emphasis is proposed. The proposed circuit consists of an output buffer circuit and an emphasis circuit. The emphasis circuit emphasizes the high frequency components and adds the characteristics of the output buffer circuit. We proposed a design method using a small-signal equivalent-circuit model and designed the compensation characteristics with a 65-㎚ CMOS process in detail using HSPICE simulation. We also realized adjustable emphasis characteristics by controlling the voltage. To confirm the advantages of the proposed circuit and the design method, we fabricated an output buffer IC with adjustable pre-emphasis. We measured the jitter and eye height with a 32-Gb/s input using the IC. Measurement results of double-emphasis showed that the jitter was 14% lower, and the eye height was 59% larger than single-emphasis, indicating that our proposed configuration can be applied to the design of an output buffer circuit for higher operation speed.

Background/Aims: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for superficial non-ampullary duodenal tumors (SNADETs) is associat-ed with a high rate of en bloc resection. However, the technique for ESD remains challenging. Recent studies have demonstrated the ef-fectiveness of S-O clips in colonic and gastric ESD. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of duodenal ESD using an S-O clip for SNA-DETs. Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent ESD for SNADETs between January 2011 and December 2021 were retrospectively en-rolled. Propensity score matching analysis was used to compare patients who underwent duodenal ESD with the S-O clip (S-O group)and those who underwent conventional ESD (control group). Intraoperative perforation rate was the primary outcome, while proce-dure time and R0 resection rate were the secondary outcomes. Results: After propensity score matching, 16 pairs were created: 43 and 17 in the S-O and control groups, respectively. The intraopera-tive perforation rate in the S-O group was significantly lower than that in the control group (p=0.033). A significant difference was ob-served in the procedure time between the S-O and control groups (39±9 vs. 82±30 minutes, respectively; p=0.003). Conclusions: The S-O clip reduced the intraoperative perforation rate and procedure time, which may be useful and effective in duo-denal ESD.

We present the results of the pressure dependence of the superconductivity of the inorganicelectride 12CaO·7Al2O3:e− (C12A7:e−) single crystal through the ac-susceptibility measurementunder high pressure. C12A7:e− has the cage structure and the density of states derived fromthe cages may play an important role in the superconductivity. The superconducting transitiontemperature (Tc) is 0.2 K at ambient pressure and monotonically increases up to 1.79 K at4.7 GPa. The upper critical field Hc2 and −dHc2/dT at Tc, in proportion to the density of states(DOS) at Fermi energy becomes larger under high pressure. The superconductivity in C12A7:e− ismediated by the electron-phonon interaction, and the increase of Tc with pressure may arise froma peak structure of the DOS of cage conduction band.

Recently, welfare vehicles are widely used by patients and elders indoors, and many welfare vehicles with free casters drive indoors. However, the vehicle with free casters may not be able to move well on gravel or dirty road as seen in rural yard. In order to expand driving area for welfare vehicles, it is necessary to apply a new mechanism on the rough road. To design compact welfare vehicles for outdoor use at low cost, the skid steer mechanism is focused on. The skid steer vehicle (SSV) has been used for its high traveling ability on rough road. However, the SSV has disadvantage that the maneuvering assistance is required because its steering is highly affected by road condition. This study aims a driving assistance of SSV for patients and elders by using Model Error Compensator (MEC) that suppresses the modeling error. The proposed controller consists of MEC, Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) that reduces sensor and system noise assuming the undulating and skiddy gravel road, and estimation of cornering power of SSV. The effectiveness of the proposed control system is confirmed by the outdoor driving experiment comparing asphalt and gravel roads.

Recently, electrical welfare vehicles with free casters are widely used by patients and elders indoors. However, welfare vehicles may not be able to move well on gravel or dirty roads as seen in suburbs. In order to expand driving area, the skid steer mechanism is focused on. The sked steer vehicle (SSV) has been used for its high traveling ability on rough road. However, the SSV has disadvantage that the driving assistance is required because its steering is highly affected by road conditions. In this paper, a driving assistance control of SSV using the model error compensator and state estimator, i.e. EKF and cornering power estimator is proposed. The maneuverability is evaluated by correlation coefficient of joystick operation comparing asphalt road and gravel road.
Simple Routing Control System for 10 Gb/s Data Transmission Using a Frequency Modulation Technique
Daichi Omoto,Keiji Kishine,Hiromi Inaba,Tomoki Tanaka 대한전자공학회 2016 IEIE Transactions on Smart Processing & Computing Vol.5 No.3
This paper describes a simple routing control system. We propose achieving high-speed data transmission without modifying the data frame configuration. To add a routing control signal, called the “labeling signal” in this paper, to the data frame, we use a frequency modulation technique on the transmitted frame. This means you need not change the data frame when you transmit additional signals. Using a prototype system comprising a field-programmable gate array and discrete elements, we investigate the system performance and devise a method to achieve high resolution. A three-channel routing control for a 10 Gb/s data frame was achieved, which confirms the advantages of the proposed system.

Background/AimsThe precise incidence of symptomatic uncomplicated diverticular disease (SUDD) and its effects on the quality of life (QOL) remain unclear, particularly in Asian patients with right-sided SUDD. We assess the prevalence of SUDD and its impact on QOL in a real-world population. MethodsFive institutional cohorts of patients who received outpatient treatment for unexplained abdominal symptoms from January 15, 2020 to March 31, 2022, were included. All patients underwent colonoscopy. SUDD was defined as the presence of recurrent abdominal symptoms, particularly pain in the lower right or left quadrant lasting > 24 hours in patients with diverticulosis at the site of pain. The 36-item short-form health survey was used to assess QOL. ResultsDiverticula were identified in 108 of 361 patients. Among these 108 patients, 31% had SUDD, which was right-sided in 39% of cases. Of the 50 patients with right-sided diverticula, 36% had SUDD, as did 15 of 35 patients with left-sided diverticula (43%). Among the 33 patients with SUDD, diverticula were right-sided, left-sided, and bilateral in 39%, 45%, and 15% of patients, respectively. Diarrhea was more frequent in the SUDD group than in the non-SUDD group. Patients with SUDD had significantly lower physical, mental, and role/social component scores than those without SUDD. ConclusionsIt is important to recognize that patients with SUDD account for as high as 31% of outpatients with unexplained abdominal symptoms; these patients have diarrhea and a low QOL. The presence of right-sided SUDD was characteristic of Asian patients.
SUMO-specific protease SUSP4 positively regulates p53 by promoting Mdm2 self-ubiquitination

The p53 tumour suppressor has a key role in the control of cell growth and differentiation, and in the maintenance of genome integrity. p53 is kept labile under normal conditions, but in response to stresses, such as DNA damage, it accumulates in the nucleus for induction of cell-cycle arrest, DNA repair or apoptosis. Mdm2 is an ubiquitin ligase that promotes p53 ubiquitination and degradation. Mdm2 is also self-ubiquitinated and degraded. Here, we identified a novel cascade for the increase in p53 level in response to DNA damage. A new SUMO-specific protease, SUSP4, removed SUMO-1 from Mdm2 and this desumoylation led to promotion of Mdm2 self-ubiquitination, resulting in p53 stabilization. Moreover, SUSP4 competed with p53 for binding to Mdm2, also resulting in p53 stabilization. Overexpression of SUSP4 inhibited cell growth, whereas knockdown of susp4 by RNA interference (RNAi) promoted of cell growth. UV damage induced SUSP4 expression, leading to an increase in p53 levels in parallel with a decrease in Mdm2 levels. These findings establish a new mechanism for the elevation of cellular p53 levels in response to UV damage.
