ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the accuracy and precision of continuous, non-invasive blood pressure obtained usingthe ClearSight system by comparing it with invasive arterial blood pressure, and to assess the hemodynamic changesusing invasive methods and the ClearSight system in patients undergoing cesarean section. MethodsArterial pressure was measured invasively with an intra-arterial catheter and non-invasively using the ClearSightsystem during cesarean section in patients with placenta previa or placenta accreta. Blood pressure measurementsobtained using these two means were then compared. ResultsTotal 1,277 blood pressure measurement pairs were collected from 21 patients. Under Bland-Altman analysis, theClearSight system demonstrated an acceptable accuracy with a bias and standard deviation of 8.8±13.4 mmHg forsystolic blood pressure, -6.3±7.1 mmHg for diastolic blood pressure, and -2.7±8.0 mmHg for median blood pressure. Cardiac index levels were significantly elevated during fetal delivery and 5 minutes after placental removal, andsystemic vascular resistance index levels were significantly decreased during fetal delivery and 40 minutes afterplacental removal. ConclusionIn patients undergoing cesarean section, the ClearSight system showed excellent accuracy and precision compared tothat of the currently used invasive monitoring system. 영어

Onco-testicular sperm extraction is used to preserve fertility in patients with bilateral testicular tumors and azoospermia. We report the case of a testicular tumor in the solitary testis of a patient who had previously undergone successful contralateral orchiectomy and whose sperm was preserved by onco-testicular sperm extraction. A 35-year-old patient presented with swelling of his right scrotum that had lasted for 1 month. His medical history included a contralateral orchiectomy during childhood. Ultrasonography revealed a mosaic echoic area in his scrotum, suggesting a testicular tumor. The lesion was palpated within the normal testicular tissue along its edge and semen analysis showed azoospermia. Radical inguinal orchiectomy and onco-testicular sperm extraction were performed simultaneously. Motile spermatozoa were extracted from normal seminiferous tubules under microscopy and were frozen. Eventual intracytoplasmic sperm injection using the frozen spermatozoa is planned. Onco-testicular sperm extraction is an important fertility preservation method in patients with bilateral testicular tumors or a history of a previous contralateral orchiectomy.

Welding technology has been developed to improve welding quality. Especially, plasma arc welding has been used for a wide range of areas. However, welding defects occur because of inappropriate arc conditions and lack of arc control with metal vapor contamination in the arc column and anode root. The metal vapor contamination from the anode is varied by the electrical conductivity of the arc in high-temperature medium. The arc emits intense radiation. In this paper, the temperature distribution of the plasma arc contaminated with iron vapor from the anode under consideration of self-absorption was elucidated to develop the plasma arc welding technology and avoid the welding defect. Electromagnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation is used to calculate the temperature. Results show that the temperature distribution was varied under consideration of self-absorption because of the iron vapor distribution, and because ionized argon exists near the cathode.

We observe the proton signals produced by laser interaction with thin-foil targets of polyimide and of copper. We change the thickness of the polyimide target to 7.5 μm, 12.5 μm, and 50 μm. High-energy protons with the maximum energy of ~2.3 MeV from 7.5 μm thick polyimide are observed. This proton beam with the maximum energy of multi-MeV has various applications such as a proton shadowgraphy.
