Synthesis of Nickel-doped Transparent Glass-ceramics for Ultra-broadband Optical Fiber Amplifiers
Takenobu Suzuki,Yusuke Arai,Yasutake Ohishi 한국세라믹학회 2007 세라미스트 Vol.10 No.3
The structural and optical properties of Ni-doped σansparent glass-ceramics are reviewed. The quantum efficiencies of ceramics were examined to explore suitable crystalline phase for Ni-doping in glass-ceramics. Inverse spinel LiGa5O8 have the quantum efficiency of almost 100% at room temperature. Transparent glass ceramics containing LiGa5O8 was successfully synthesized by heat treatment of LiO2-Ga2O3r-SiO2-NiO glass. Most of Ni2+ ions in glassceramic were incorporated into LiGa5O8 nanocrystals. The near-infrared emission covering from the O-band to L-band (1260-1625 nm) was observed from the Ni-doped LiO2-Ga2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramic though it was not observed from the as-cast glass. The lifetime of the emission was about 580 μsec even at 300K. The emission quantum efficiency was evaluated as about 10 % that is enough high for practical usage as gain media of optical fiber amplifiers. The figure of merit (the product of the stimulated emission cross section and lifetime) was as high as that of rare-earth-doped glasses, The broad bandwidth, high quantum efficiency and high figure of merit show that transparent glass-ceramics containing Nt2+: LiGa5O8 nanocrystals are promising candidates as novel ultra-broadband gain media.
Recent Topics in Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva
Takenobu Katagiri,Sho Tsukamoto,Yutaka Nakachi,Mai Kuratani 대한내분비학회 2018 Endocrinology and metabolism Vol.33 No.3
Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is a rare genetic disease that is characterized by the formation of heterotopic bone tissuesin soft tissues, such as skeletal muscle, ligament, and tendon. It is difficult to remove such heterotopic bones via internal medicineor invasive procedures. The identification of activin A receptor, type I (ACVR1)/ALK2 gene mutations associated with FOP hasallowed the genetic diagnosis of FOP. The ACVR1/ALK2 gene encodes the ALK2 protein, which is a transmembrane kinase receptorin the transforming growth factor-β family. The relevant mutations activate intracellular signaling in vitro and induce heterotopicbone formation in vivo. Activin A is a potential ligand that activates mutant ALK2 but not wild-type ALK2. Various types of smallchemical and biological inhibitors of ALK2 signaling have been developed to establish treatments for FOP. Some of these are inclinical trials in patients with FOP.

A numerical simulation method has been developed to predict atmospheric flow and stack gas diffusion using a calculation domain of several km around a stack under complex terrain conditions containing buildings. The turbulence closure technique using a modified k-$\varepsilon$-type model under a non hydrostatic assumption was used for the flow calculation, and some of the calculation grids near the ground were treated as buildings using a terrain-following coordinate system. Stack gas diffusion was predicted using the Lagrangian particle model, that is, the stack gas was represented by the trajectories of released particles. The numerical model was applied separately to the flow and stack gas diffusion around a cubical building and to a two-dimensional ridge in this study, before being applied to an actual terrain containing buildings in our next study. The calculated flow and stack gas diffusion results were compared with those obtained by wind tunnel experiments, and the features of flow and stack gas diffusion, such as the increase in turbulent kinetic energy and the plume spreads of the stack gas behind the building and ridge, were reproduced by both calculations and wind tunnel experiments. Furthermore, the calculated profiles of the mean velocity, turbulent kinetic energy and concentration of the stack gas around the cubical building and the ridge showed good agreement with those of wind tunnel experiments.
Development of "Virtual office" for job training
Yasuhiro Yamanaka,Kazuyuki Itoh,Takenobu Inoue 한국재활복지공학회 2011 한국재활복지공학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2011 No.11
This study looks into the status of work support at home in work support organizations. We propose the concept of "Virtual office" for job training. We are developing a home virtual office system to acquire IT skills and business manner for persons with disabilities. We executed the one-on-one training to evaluate this system.
A Determination Method of Initial Camera Parameters for Coplanar Calibration
Kaset Sirisantisamrid,Kitti Tirasesth,Takenobu Matsuura 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2009 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.7 No.5
Most coplanar calibration algorithms determine the initial camera parameters from a single image under the assumption that the principal point is known in advance. However, the camera orientations, the shifted principal point and the noise corrupted on images have an influence on the estimated initial camera parameters under the above assumption. This paper proposes a useful method to determine the initial camera parameters for coplanar calibration. The proposed method can determine the initial camera parameters from the single image, wherein the principal point is considered as a parameter. In our experiments, both synthetic and real images are used. The experimental results show that the proposed method provides both stable initial camera parameters and noise robustness for changes of camera orientations, noise levels and shifts of principal point.
