Cathelicidins are a family of antimicrobial peptides which exhibit broad antimicrobial activities against antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Considering the progressive antibiotic resistance, cathelicidin is a candidate for use as an alternative approach to treat and overcome the challenge of antimicrobial resistance. Cathelicidin-BF (Cath-BF) is a short antimicrobial peptide, which was originally extracted from the venom of Bungarus fasciatus. Recent studies have reported that Cath-BF and some related derivatives exert strong antimicrobial and weak hemolytic properties. This study investigates the bactericidal and cytotoxic effects of Cath-BF and its analogs (Cath-A and Cath-B). Cath-A and Cath-B were designed to increase their net positive charge, to have more activity against methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA). The results of this study show that Cath-A, with a +17-net charge, has the most noteworthy antimicrobial activity against MRSA strains, with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) ranging between 32–128 μg/ml. The bacterial kinetic analysis by 1 × MIC concentration of each peptide shows that Cath-A neutralizes the clinical MRSA isolate for 60 min. The present data support the notion that increasing the positive net charge of antimicrobial peptides can increase their potential antimicrobial activity. Cath-A also displayed the weakest cytotoxicity effect against human umbilical vein endothelial and H9c2 rat cardiomyoblast cell lines. Analysis of the hemolytic activity reveals that all three peptides exhibit minor hemolytic activity against human erythrocytes at concentrations up to 250 μg/ml. Altogether, these results suggest that Cath-A and Cath-B are competent candidates as novel antimicrobial compounds against MRSA and possibly other multidrug resistant bacteria.
Delay Tolerant Information Dissemination via Coded Cooperative Data Exchange
Shahriar Etemadi Tajbakhsh,Parastoo Sadeghi 한국통신학회 2015 Journal of communications and networks Vol.17 No.2
In this paper, we introduce a system and a set of algorithms for disseminating popular content to a large group of wireless clients spread over a wide area. This area is partitioned into multiple cells and there is a base station in each cell which is able to broadcast to the clients within its radio coverage. Dissemination of information in the proposed system is hybrid in nature: Each base station broadcasts a fraction of information in the form of random linear combinations of data blocks. Then the clients cooperate by exchanging packets to obtain their desired messages while they are moving arbitrarily over the area. In this paper, fundamental trade-offs between the average information delivery completion time at the clients and different parameters of the system such as bandwidth usage by the base stations, average energy consumption by the clients and the popularity of the spread information are studied. Moreover different heuristic algorithms are proposed to control and maintain a balance over these trade-offs. Also, the more complicated case of multiple sessions where each client is interested in an arbitrary subset of sessions is considered and two variants of the basic dissemination algorithm are proposed. The performance of all the proposed algorithms is evaluated via extensive numerical experiments.

In this paper we prove that $C^1$-generically, if a diffeomorphism f on a closed $C^{\infty}$ manifold M satisfies weak specification on a locally maximal set ${\Lambda}{\subset}M$ then ${\Lambda}$ is hyperbolic for f. As a corollary we obtain that $C^1$-generically, every diffeomorphism with weak specification is Anosov.

$TiO_2$ nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized by SEM and XRD techniques. The $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were employed as a recyclable, inexpensive and efficient catalyst for the synthesis of substituted quinoxalines in high to excellent yields and in relatively short duration.

N-Bromosaccharin/$Mg(ClO_4)_2$ is an effective and regioselective system for ${\alpha}$-monobromination of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. A wide variety of ${\beta}$-keto esters and 1,3-diketones in reaction with this system afforded a regioselectively ${\alpha}$-monobrominated products. The bromination reaction can be conducted at 0-5 $^{\circ}C$ either in solution or under solvent-free conditions.

A simple and effective procedure for conversion of primary, secondary, allylic and benzylic alcohols into the corresponding iodides is described using $CeCl_3{\cdot}7H_2O/NaI\;over\;SiO_2$ under microwave irradiation. Benzylic alcohols are selectively converted in the presence of saturated alcohols into their corresponding benzylic iodides under these conditions.
Prediction of fatigue life in cold expanded Al-alloy 2024-T3 plates used in double shear lap joints
Hadi Taghizadeh,Tajbakhsh Navid Chakherlou,Afshin Babaei Aghdam 대한기계학회 2013 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.27 No.5
To predict fatigue crack initiation and fatigue crack growth lives in cold expanded double shear lap joints a numerical method has been employed. The total estimated fatigue lives were compared with available experimental fatigue test results for plain hole and cold expanded hole specimens of Al 2024-T3 in double shear lap joints. Three-dimensional finite element simulations have been performed in order to obtain the created residual stresses field due to cold expansion and subsequent far field longitudinal loading in the double shear lap joint. The obtained stress and strain distributions from the finite element analyses were employed to predict stress concentration factors to calculate fatigue crack initiation and fatigue crack growth lives using AFGROW computer code. The predicted fatigue lives demonstrate that there is a good agreement between the proposed method and experimental fatigue test results.
Hyperbolicity of chain transitive sets with limit shadowing
Abbas Fakhari,이승희,Khosro Tajbakhsh 대한수학회 2014 대한수학회보 Vol.51 No.5
In this paper we show that any chain transitive set of a diffeomorphism on a compact C∞-manifold which is C1-stably limit shadowable is hyperbolic. Moreover, it is proved that a locally maximal chain transitive set of a C1-generic diffeomorphism is hyperbolic if and only if it is limit shadowable.
