      • Value of Ultrasound Elastography in Assessment of Enlarged Cervical Lymph Nodes

        Background: To investigate the value of ultrasound elastography (UE) in the differentiation between benign and malignant enlarged cervical lymph nodes (LNs). Methods: B-mode ultrasound, power Doppler imaging and UE were examined to determine LN characteristics. Two kinds of methods, 4 scores of elastographic classification and a strain ratio (SR) were used to evaluate the ultrasound elastograms. Results: The cutoff point of SR had high utility in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant of cervical lymph nodes, with good sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. Conclusion: UE is an important aid in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant cervical LNs.

        Conductivity relaxation in NiTiO3 at high temperatures

        NiTiO3 ceramics were prepared via the traditional solid-state reaction route. The dielectric properties of NiTiO3 ceramics have been systematically investigated in the temperature range from room temperature to 1073 K NiTiO3 ceramics exhibit intrinsic dielectric response in the temperature range below 400 K. Two relaxations were observed in the temperature range higher than 400 K. The relaxation activation energy is 0.95 eV and 1.17 eV for the low- and high-temperature relaxations, respectively. Our results strongly indicate that the two relaxations are related to conductivity relaxation associated with the singly and doubly ionized oxygen vacancies.

        Performance study of g-C3N4/carbon black/BiOBr@Ti3C2/MoS2 photocatalytic fuel cell for the synergistic degradation of different types of pollutants

        In this study, a bipolar visible light responsive photocatalytic fuel cell (PFC) was constructed by loading a Z-scheme g-C3N4/carbon black/BiOBr and a Ti3C2/MoS2 Schottky heterojunction on the carbon brush to prepare the photoanode and photocathode, respectively. It greatly improved the electron transfer and achieved efficient degradation of organic pollutants such as antibiotics and dyes simultaneously in two chambers of the PFC system. The Z-scheme g-C3N4/carbon black/BiOBr formed by adding highly conductive carbon black to g-C3N4/BiOBr not only effectively separates the photogenerated carriers, but also simultaneously retains the high reduction of the conduction band of g-C3N4 and the high oxidation of the valence band of BiOBr, improving the photocatalytic performance. The exceptional performance of Ti3C2/MoS2 Schottky heterojunction originated from the superior electrical conductivity of Ti3C2 MXene, which facilitated the separation of photogenerated electron–hole pairs. Meanwhile, the synergistic effect of the two photoelectrodes further improved the photocatalytic performance of the PFC system, with degradation rates of 90.9% and 99.9% for 50 mg L−1 tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) and 50 mg L−1 rhodamine-B (RhB), respectively, within 180 min. In addition, it was found that the PFC also exhibited excellent pollutant degradation rates under dark conditions (79.7%, TCH and 97.9%, RhB). This novel pollutant degradation system is expected to provide a new idea for efficient degradation of multiple pollutant simultaneously even in the dark.

        Sparsity maximization nonlinear blind deconvolution and its application in identification of satellite microvibration sources

        In this study, sparsity maximization nonlinear blind deconvolution (NBD) is proposed to identify the vibration sources of satellite systems from mixed vibration signals. The proposed algorithm decomposes NBD into two independent stages, namely, nonlinear compensation and blind deconvolution. Since nonlinear distortion weakens the sparsity of the observed signals, sparsity maximization is introduced to the nonlinear compensation stage. In the blind deconvolution stage, the blind deconvolution algorithm with reference is used to separate the source signals. The proposed algorithm can improve the accuracy of source signal extraction from nonlinear mixed signals of complex mechanical systems. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through simulations. An experimental system of aluminum cabin structure is built based on the satellite’s cabin structure. Results show that the proposed algorithm can successfully realize the identification of source signals.

        Hybrid Scheduling and Quantized Output Feedback Control for Networked Control Systems

        A novel co-design scheme of hybrid scheduling strategy, adaptive logarithmic quantizer and dynamic robust H-infinity output feedback controller for a class of networked control system (NCS)with communication constraints and time delay is proposed. The hybrid scheduling scheme integrates dead zone scheduling and Try Once Discard (TOD) scheduling so as to get the stronger adaptability and flexibility than the single scheduling. In this scheme, dead zone scheduling which updates the threshold according to mode-dependent control strategy is used for single node of NCS to reduce the network bandwidth utilization while TOD scheduling is used for the whole node of NCS in order to meet the requirements of communication constraints and guarantee the overall system performance.We develop the integrated design for the hybrid scheduling strategy, adaptive quantizer and dynamic robust output feedback controller to maintain asymptotic stability of the closed-loop NCS by using the multiple-Lyapunov function and switched system theory. The proposed method can improve the the quality of service (QoS) meanwhile ensure the quality of control (QoC) of overall systems, which make a better trade-off between network utilization and control performance. An simulation example demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed method.

        Investigation on Drained Mechanical Properties of Sandy Soil after Internal Erosion with an Erosion-Stress Coupling Apparatus

        Internal erosion is one of the important causes of soil damage. In this paper, an erosion-stress coupling apparatus was developed to investigate the mechanical property of soil after internal erosion. Main efforts were devoted to rebuilding pressure cell so that soils can be eroded under confining pressure and deviator pressure. The hydraulic gradient is controlled by using the water-head control method which can provide up to 40 m water-head. The volume change of the sample can also be accurately measured by the volume controller. The eroded particles were collected by the eroded soil collection system. Triaxial consolidation drained shear tests after internal erosion were performed on gap graded soils. It was found that the drainage failure strength and drainage internal friction angle of soil after internal erosion under confining pressure decreased with the increase of fine particle loss. Based on the experimental data, amodified Duncan-Chang model considering fine particle loss was introduced. Numerical modelling of vertical displacement of dam was carried out by using the modified Duncan-Chang model, and it was found that when the fine particle loss exceeds 10%, the displacement increases significantly.

        A Research of High Frequency Isolated Photovoltaic Inverter

        In recent years, high frequency inverter technology has become a research focus for renewable energy power generation system. High frequency isolated inverter has electrical isolation, light weight, small volume etc. In this paper, we research on the control technology of high frequency isolation inverter, and introduce the soft switching technology of the high frequency isolation photovoltaic grid connected inverter. Using the LCL resonant circuit, reduce the switching loss of the switching devices. Finally, its feasibility is validated by simulation.

        Early bolt looseness state identification via generalized variational mode decomposition and similarity index

        A novel method for early looseness state identification of bolted joint beams is proposed in this paper based on generalized variational mode decomposition (GVMD) and a similarity index. In the proposed method vibration signals are decomposed by GVMD, which has the property of the multiscale and fixed-frequency decomposition. To effectively extract the desired modes, the frequency band allocation is designed through flexibly defining scale parameters and prior center frequencies according to the characteristics of the signal itself and real needs. A new similarity index is formed based on the centroid frequency ratio of sensitive vibration modes to reliably identify early looseness state. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by impulse experiments of bolted joint transverse beam and bolted joint vertical beam. The results indicate that compared with other methods, the proposed method can effectively identify the early looseness state of the bolted joint beams, and has a good repeatability.

        Structural and electronic properties of neutral boron clusters doped with two potassium atoms

        This paper reports a systematic study on the doping of two potassium atoms in small-sized neutral boron clusters. The CALYPSO software in conjunction with DFT was used to anticipate the low-energy structures, optimize their geometry, and adjust their energies. With increasing size, the structural development of the K2Bn (n=1–12) clusters was revealed, and we discovered that the majority of their ground-state structural isomers structurally inherited well from the corresponding ground-state isomers of pure B clusters. A fresh fnding was made after confrming the NPA (natural population analysis) of the low-lying K2Bn (n=1–12): every doped K atom in the structure has a positive charge. According to relative stability analysis, the most stable K2B8 cluster within the parameters of our investigation has a HOMO–LUMO gap of 3.31 eV. Strong interactions between K-4s and B-2P AO were also discovered through an additional examination of the molecular orbitals and bonds of K2B8 clusters. These interactions may be the primary cause of K2B8's exceptional stability. We hope that our research will be useful in the future for synthesizing and using doped boron-based nanomaterials.

      • Meta-analysis of Associations Between four Polymorphisms in the Matrix Metalloproteinases Gene and Gastric Cancer Risk

        Background: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) play important roles in pathogenesis and development of cancer. Recently, many studies have show associations between polymorphisms in the promoter regions of MMPs and risk of gastric cancer. The present meta-analysis was conducted in order to investigate the potential association between four polymorphisms in the MMP gene and gastric cancer risk. Methods: A computerized literature search was conducted in databases of Med-line, Embase, Science Citation Index and PubMed till June 2013 for any MMP genetic association study of gastric cancer. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated for each gene under dominant and recessive models, and heterogeneity between studies was assessed using the Q test and $I^2$ value. Overall and subgroup analyses according to ethnicity were carried out with Stata 12.0. Results: 14 reports covering 8,146 patients (2,980 in the case group and 5,166 in the control group) were included in the present meta-analysis. We found that the MMP-7 (-181A>G) polymorphism increased the gastric cancer risk in therecessive model (GG vs. AA/AG, OR=1.768, 95% CI =1.153-2.712). For MMP2 -1306 C>T, MMP1-1607 1G/2G, and MMP9-1 562 C>T, there were no associations between these polymorphisms and the risk of gastric cancer under dominant or recessive models. Conclusion: This meta-analysis suggested that the MMP7-181 A>G polymorphism may contribute to gastric cancer susceptibility. More studies are needed, especially in Europeans, in the future.
